Meet the extraordinarily talented Jasmine Amy Rogers. A triple-threat from Texas with an infectious laugh and soaring voice, Jasmine will be stepping in Betty's shoes when BOOP! the Musical premieres at the CBIC Theatre in Chicago in December and, after seeing her absolutely embody Betty in these amazing photos... we can't wait!

Jasmine joins an already amazing team of artists working to bring BOOP! to life including Tony winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, Grammy winning composer David Foster, legendary lyricist Susan Birkenhead, and book writer Bob Martin.

RGB X BETTY BOOP COLLECTION TO DEBUT AT FRED SEGAL: Collaboration marks the debut of Betty of the People Initiative Celebrating Community and Inclusion!

Today marks the launch of a limited-edition RGB x Betty Boop collection and we truly could not be more excited! The collection, featuring T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweatpants is available right now, in stores and online, at Fred Segal.

The collaboration debuts Fleischer Studios’ Betty of the People initiative. The program, focused on embracing a broad range of identity communities around the world, showcases the style and artistry of a diverse variety of partners creating designs that celebrate community, equity, unity, and inclusion; values that central to the spirit of Betty Boop and the Fleischer Studios brand.

The inspiration for the BOOP Produced by: RGB collection came from RGB designer Antione Joyner. As a Black designer, Joyner wanted this collection to showcase the spectrum of shades people of color represent. As he incorporated the hues of the people in his life, he hopes this collection will inspire others to share the stories of color in their own community.

We certainly feel inspired and are thrilled to share these amazing designs with the world!

PBS corrects misinformation on its site that wrongly credited jazz performer Baby Esther as the inspiration for Betty Boop

In a powerful mea culpa recently published on the PBS website, the editors of one of the nation's most trusted and well-respected journalistic outlets retracted and corrected a story it posted online six years ago stating that Betty Boop was based on the African American performer, Baby Esther. In the story, PBS explains how misinformation managed to remain on its website for so long, but even more importantly it took the opportunity to put the full weight of its journalistic expertise behind a concerted effort to set the record straight.

The people at PBS took this story seriously and we couldn't be more grateful. We know that this story touches on subjects that feel particularly thorny right now and we hope that this course correction will move us toward a fuller and more nuanced understanding of this pivotal period in our country's history; one that continues to resonate and influence us to this day.

We are committed to addressing these rumors, as well as engaging in the very important conversations about race and social and cultural inequity and inequality that are happening right now. As part of this effort, we’ve posted an article on our website exploring and honoring the many talented artists and art forms that came together to inform and inspire the creation of Betty Boop, as well as the complex cultural landscape of New York City in the 1920s and 1930s.

We know that there is conflicting information out there right now, so we have made every effort to share documents and accurate information that will clarify and focus the discussion of Betty’s creation, history and legacy. Betty is and always has been a character whose commitment to love and kindness, independence, mutual respect and universal acceptance embodies the best in all of us.
