The copyright in the 1930 cartoon “Dizzy Dishes” enters public domain in 2026, along with a precursor to the Betty Boop character appearing in that cartoon, depicted to the left.

What Does Not Enter Public Domain in 2026

The Fleischer Studios’ copyrights in the fully developed modern Betty Boop character and the many revised and subsequent versions do not enter public domain in 2026 and remain in full force.  Additionally, the Betty Boop name and character designs are well-known Fleischer trademarks, and these brands continue to enjoy the full protection of trademark and related laws, unaffected by the expiration of the “Dizzy Dishes” or any other copyright.
