Yes, I will say hi to my grandmother from everyone here on the forum. I will tell her that I posted her picture and info about her. She will get a kick out of that. This picture doesn't do her justice cause she isn't smiling. I have a favorite one of her smiling.. she's sitting on my couch. But I tried to take a photo of it and it didn't come out well.

thanks for sharing Biker, she looks like she has a calming presence about her. be sure to give her a big hug from us all.
I'm glad you are close and get to see her still. My nan's in her 70's but lives interstate and i only get to see her twice a year, but i guess that's far better than not at all.

Yes, that's pretty cool isn't it? I keep telling my sister that she needs to get her two grandsons, her son, mom and grandma and herself into a photo studio for one of those professional pictures... or even one that isn't professional... they've never all been together at the same time... how bad is that?
If it were my grandsons, I know I'd sure have them meeting their great, great grandmother!!

:o thats bad! it think it would loads of fun if they all got together!!!!

Wow!! Granny looks very well. I haven't anyone left but my mom. All the grands and greats are gone.
Take care of granny. Talk to her daily. Visit her as regular as you can and give her a<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_1_14.gif' alt='Great Big Hug' border=0></a>.

We asked my mom to move up here in 2001 and she loves being close to us. She doesn't drive and so either my sister or I take her shopping etc. My grandmother lives in Tucson with one of my cousins. She doesn't drive anymore either... it's a good thing that she doesn't.

Well my grandmother had a nice quiet Christmas holiday. I decided to make some mini stockings for everyone in our family from a blouse and vest that she gave to me. I did this to honor her. I embroidered each person's name on the stocking and each one was handmade and different from everyone else's stocking. My grandmother said she was very happy that I did this for her. I even made one for her to put on her holiday tree.
She seemed to be recovering quite well from her hand injury and then this afternoon I got a call from my cousin who lives with and cares for my grandmother and she fell down and has a hairline fracture in her arm which she used to try and break her fall. She spent 9 hours in the hospital and they wanted to keep her for observation but she refused and said she'd rather be home.
I am relieved that it isn't more serious than that but I am concerned about her getting hurt so often.

Thanks for the very nice message. I have just passed it along to my cousin. I appreciate the thoughts and prayers and I know she will too. She's 97 1/2 now and says her goal is to reach 100 if it's God's will. I hope it is. She and I are very close.

Thanks everyone for your concern and prayers for my grandmother. She is trying to recover from her fall and broken arm but it is difficult. She went to an orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he told her that 97 is too old to have surgery and that she will just have to allow her body to heal itself. She is taking pain meds every 4 hours and is spending all her time in a chair because she can't get up out of bed. She has nurses and family with her now to provide help to her. I try to speak with her on the phone as often as I can but I can tell it is difficult for her to talk right now.
Thanks again for your prayers.

Thanks for asking about my grandmother. She is improving... slowly but surely. The doctor said that it is going to take 6-8 weeks for her to heal but said it's much better than a broken hip which takes 6-8 months!! And he said that for her age, she is in very good shape. She has improved enough that she can now be in bed instead of sleeping in a recliner chair. She has 2 nurses who come during the day and someone stays with her at night and helps her get up and down. I am happy that she is doing better. She's still in pain but at least she is starting to recover now.
Thanks again for asking about her. She is a real sweet lady and I will be glad when she is back on her feet again. She is planning to come visit me me in May.

BTW...here's an update... my grandmother had her sling removed today and the doctor said he's amazed at how fast her bones are healing. He's already scheduled her to begin physical therapy and said he doesn't need to see her again until March 4th! Isn't that great news?
My sis is still recovering from her horse injury but she's off the prescribed pain meds and just taking aspirin for pain now.
We're a hearty bunch of old gals, aren't we?
