Bikerbetty, those were my best subjects too! Maths and science were just awful for me! I've never been good with numbers. If someone says a number and I have to write it down, alot of the time, I write the numbers back to front, so 136, I would write 163. It's awful! And science......ha! My teacher told my parents that I work in a vicious circle when it comes to science - I don't understand it, so I don't enjoy it, so I don't put the effort in, and because of that, I'm back to not understanding again - and so the circle continues! Put I passed my science GCSE and passed my maths after a 2nd attempt! I had to re-take it whilst I was in college!
English and Drama exams I used to enjoy, because I knew that there was really no right or wrong answer - as long as I could back up my answers with examples, it would be fine. I love long essay questions cos I could just babble - much like I'm doing now! I got an A in both English and Drama! Yay me! :)
So in conclusion......just go into exams with a positive attitude. Don't go in thinking you're going to fail - cos you will if you think like that - like me with my maths! :) :)

03-09-2004, 12:00 PM
i'va had some of my results back... dun dun duuuunn!!
English reading paper 25/33
English writing paper 26/30
Maths paper's all together 108 - level 6
Science - 170% out of 300% (sounds bad but it's not.. it's still over average!!!) - level 6
Geography 70% out of 100% - B grade at GCSE :D
and thats all i have back :D i'm happy with those though :D

Hooray BBooper! Way to go! I am proud of you!
Women think differently than men, it's a proven fact. Men are better with numbers and statistics, but women are better at abstract and creative thinking. I think we are also very good at basic problem solving...we can think things out and find solutions, men are better with memorizing statistics and data...
So use your strengths and excel in your future endeavors!!!

Hi BBooper! I share BikerBetty's avitar, but it was I who brought up the difference in the male and female brain.;)
I'm happy that you did well. I also had problems getting into my least favorite subjects, but I made myself focus on them, did my homework, and mostly tried real hard to understand the underlying theories and reasons why things were the way they were, and so was able to keep up my grades. I have a way I tackle things in life that I started in school: If it is difficult and not enjoyable to do, get it done first (in case it never gets done at all) then go on to the more fun issues. It works for me...most of the time (when I don't procrastinate, that is!)
Bikerbettyboop
03-12-2004, 02:13 PM
Wow that's great advice and your philosophy on getting the least enjoyable project done first is one I've adhered to as well .. unless of course I'm procratinating too! LOL>>>>>>>>

It's crazy isnt it, how everyone seems to get on so well in here, despite the age differences and locations. Most people seem to 'get' everyone elses humour without getting offended etc. A lot of people sometimes find that I'm a little too sarcastic and they don't know how to take that. I try and keep it quite mild in here, cos I don't want to offend anyone and alienate myself!! xx
