forum subscription

Hello,

I would like to know what does that do whether we subscribe or not to a forum as the question is asked at the end of each forum and why letters appear instead of smilies when I want to choose one of them, yhank you for answering

Subscribing makes it easier for you to navigate through your selections. Now it might not be a problem because the forum is only three weeks old... but down the road it could be, when there are thousands of threads! ;)

Your Smilies showing up as punctuations might be related to a slow or bad connection. I'm assuming you're connecting to the Internet via a dial-up modem.

I don't really know what a dial up modem is, but when I first registered I managed to have the smilies written correctly so this still is a mystery however, thank you for answering
