I've seen bad women drivers... and I've seen bad men drivers... the only good drivers are my wife and I. LOL

It all depends on the person driving.

:D It all just really depends on the person. I have seen some bad women drivers and men drivers too.

Bikerbettyboop

I agree with MGCHAN on two points but not on the third point.

Men and women are both good and bad drivers... but I don't really think it is fair to say that he and his wife are the ONLY GOOD drivers... ha ha.... I think my husband and I are pretty darned good drivers ourselves.

Now my sis... whew... she drives like a maniac!! I won't ride with her as a passenger... either I drive or we don't ride together.. hah!

Why do we always capitalize MGCHAN??? Is it ok to write it as mgchan?

Bikerbettyboop

I can honestly say the same thing... My last major accident was in 1992 and an 86 year old man hit me.. he made a left turn right into the side of my car... knocked me out.. had a serious head injury... I guess that's why I'm a little nuts today! ha ha.

JennyBoop
03-02-2004, 03:45 PM
Now I can honestly say I got into A car accident with A NUN of all people and it was her fault too. If she would hit me an inch close on the drivers side door I would of had A broken leg or something.:(

Yes I know! I try to be as careful as I can when I'm driving to avoid any nasty accidents. I'm quite observant so I am quite good at spotting hazards. Someone once pulled out on me really fast, but luckily I spotted him and slammed on my breaks - if I hadn't have seen him, it would have been really nasty! x

i voted it depends on the driver....not sure why all the times i've been hit have always been men well 1 woman but she was backing out and only hit my door so it wasn't bad at all but all of my cars that have been totaled were by men. I feel like aminal does they have it out for us and any new car we get. we have them for about 1-2mths and then wham totaled. and they say women don't pay attention. :D

GIRL POWER all the way!!!!!!!

no seriously it depends on the each individual person and all the surrounding factors. One accident doesn't neccessarily make that 1 person a bad driver either.

In Aust according to Insurance Co. statistics - in general younger males are more likely to have the more serious accidents with cars totalled & human ingury (death). whilst females tend to have more accidents they are relatively minor (fender benders).

11-03-2004, 02:12 PM
that is so true BBFan.... and especially when you're riding a motorcycle... now talk about scarey.... it can be a real thrill to suddenly have someone change lanes right on top of you. I wish more drivers would be on the look out for motorcycle riders.

I was in a car accident that totaled my car and both drivers were 45 year old men! The first one hit me from behind and then the other one hit me from the front! What does that tell you. I think there are some women just like that also.

bettyboopfan
11-20-2004, 12:41 AM
You do have your bad men drivers just as well as the women drivers.

I think my husband is the worst!! LOL!!

I voted 4 us chicky babes from my personal experience with driving here in australia, men are 2 cocky they want 2 show off and try impress us women but it never works, well 4 me anyway.
well here is a good example, my brother was only 17 when he got his licence and he only had it 4 8 days b4 he rolled it and smashed it into a tree, he is ok no cuts or brouses just a broused ego.

Depends on what you mean by "better."

Statistically, women are the safer drivers. They have less serious accidents per driver on average than do men.

On average women drive less often, for shorter times, and more slowly. This is changing. Unfortunately as women drive longer hours on faster routes more often, their accident figures approach those of men.

This is statistics. You can get them fom any insurance company. It has nothing to do with gender traits.

It also implies that slower, less experienced drivers are "better." Like I said, it depends what you mean by better.

Is there an intrinsic trend that makes one gender "better?" Let's assume better means safer, although Michael Shumakker (sp?) might not agree.

Conventional wisdom says that aggression is a male survival trait. Aggressive drivers are more likely to speed, race, tailgate, overtake on blind corners and fail to give way. So women are better than men? Used to be the case. I think the trend now is for road rage to be much more a******. The auto two inches from your rear bumper is as likely to be driven by a twenty year old, female, dental assistant as by the archetypical forty year old salesman with high blood pressure.

Are map reading and parking counted as driving skills? Traditionally, the belief has been that men have a better spacial awareness than women. There could be a number of reasons for this:

1) It's actually true, whether because of evolution or some gender difference in the human brain. (Don't reject this out of hand, there are physical differences in the brain cortex that make women intrinsically better at multitasking than men, so maybe there are differences that work the other way round.)

2) Men have more practice at it. This brings me back to earlier arguments. If this is the case, it's changing.

3) It's just something men claim because they're all male chauvinist pigs. Oink :D

Nice discussion, if somewhat off the topic of Betty Boop.

I decided to do an internet search to see if the statment that women have more accidents than men do and guess what I found out? That's not an accurate statement!! I found this link: http://www.metallian.com/panel3.htm with this information:

-Actually women have less accidents then men, that's why our insurance rates are lower then our male counterparts. We also don't feel the need to make up for our lack of self-esteem by driving too fast or too aggressively. I know I can drive better than most men could ever hope to. I can drive full-size vans and trucks, manual shift vehicles, trucks with trailers, and tractors. Most people in the U.S. can't even drive a stick... so I am one up on them. I challenge you to parallel parking a full size Chevy truck!

The Moocher

Women have less reported accidents and insurance claims than men. The difference isn't as wide as it used to be.

A woman can normally get cheaper auto insurance than a man. Our family car is insured in my wife's name with me as co-driver, although neither of us have had an accident in 30 years.

As far as minor fender dents in parking lots go, however, which gender has more? No statistics, but I have my suspicions :P

I have seen a lot of bad drivers out there, some are men some are women. The one's that get me soooooo angry are the women (girls) putting thier make up in the mirror while driving down the road. Irritates me to no end. Or brushing their hair. Take a few extra minutes at home and get it done there. Not while you're behind the wheel of car.

Someone reading while driving. Bugs me every time. I like to honk my horn when they go by so they will pay attention. I saw a police officer doing it last week while driving down the main street of the town near by where I live. I couldn't believe it. I really wanted to follow him and give him my 2 cents worth but I would have probably gotten arrested. I don't think I would do well in jail.

So for me I voted, It depends on the person.

Thanks for letting me rant. Oh wait you didn't have much choice I'm the one at the keyboard. hehehe.

This is crazy!I too got sideswiped by a semi on the highway.I wasn't wearing my seatbelt either.I'm alive by the grace of God.My father saw the car and he told me that I was lucky to be alive. The car was completely totaled. The officer and emt's that attended to me also told me that I was lucky to be alive.Everyone that drove by the accident just kept on asking me if I was the one driving the car. When I answered them yes;that it was me in the car;they were in shock. That taught me a huge lesson;I now wear my seatbelt all the time.As soon as I get into my car;I put it on.I have to live for my boys!I can't play russian rullet with my life;I have 2 little boys that need me.PLEASE ALWAYS BUCKLE UP WHEN YOU GET IN A CAR;THE LIFE YOU MIGHT BE SAVING MAY BE YOUR OWN.GOD BLESS!
