I bought this rag doll at a local antique shop for $22 a couple weeks ago and though I am curious to know its true value, i'm more interested in the actual year of the doll, it isn't listed anywhere on the box so i was wondering if you could help me. here are some pictures:

Hi Stella,
This was a good find, and a bargain! You have a 1977 Colorforms doll, and with the box, in good shape, should be in the $100-$200 range. Here's more info, from my book:
1977 “The Original Betty Boop Colorforms Rag Doll”. Soft stuffed doll, 17-inches tall. Flesh colored doll, wearing black cloth dress with red-orange heart, white panties, silk-screened black shoes and black garter belt with white flower. Face is silk-screened with black hair, white eyes, red lips, and has orange plastic ring earrings sewn to ears. Designed by renowned doll designer Mel Birnkrant. 9x19-inch box has colorful graphics all around, front has cellophane window opening to view doll. Colorforms, Inc. Norwood, N.J. No. 317, Made in Taiwan.
enjoy!

I have an original betty boop cloth doll, but she is not in the original box. She is in very good condition and I was just wondering how much she would be worth. Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello....do you have any idea how much the 1977 orignal betty boop cloth doll is worth out of the package? She is in very good condition.
Thank you,

Hi Oooga ...
The Colorforms cloth doll, without the box, would be in the $25 - $100 range, depending on condition.
And for all, just a note on names . .. this is called "The Original Betty Boop Rag Doll" but the reality is that it was created in 1977, so I would hardly call it original. It is even not the first stuffed cloth doll created, as Lenci made a custom cloth boudoir doll for Paramount Studios in the mid-1930s.
Another example of this is currently on ebay, a seller has a reproduction of the 1935 Betty Boop with Henry movie poster, but he calls it "Rare, vintage" and not as a reproduction. And unless you know there are probably fewer that 10 of the original posters in existence, you could be led to believe this really is "original".
So be wary of descriptions and names . .. do some research . . much of this is in my book, which might be a wise purchase. Of course the original manuscript has descriptions (no pictures) of over 3000 items.
