So...what's going on in Houston?
I hear that it's off the chain and the whole town is HYPED!!
That should really be exciting. Anybody on the board from Houston who can throw in a little feed back?
What famous faces are there amongst the crowd?
Come in Houston...

Hi There;
I am all excited. The Patriots won. It was much closer than I was hoping for. I was mad when Adam Vinatieri missed the 31 yard FG during the first period. I was more upset when Tom Brady threw the interception in the end zone. ( He should have thrown it over the head of Christian Faurier and settled for the easy field goal )
Those long bombs by Jake Delhomme gave me a heart attack. We are all doing the happy dance here in Boston because Adam got another Super Bowl Game winnng kick with seconds to go. YEAH Big parade in Boston is tomorrow.
John
P.S. Oh by the way I have been a Patriots season ticket holder for years.

Here in holland the performing acts got more attention then the game...

Boopfan713

Hi 10eke;
The game was huge here in Boston but the performers also got alot of attention. The Janet Jackson - Justin Timberlake performance was very controversial. I did not know about the controversy until they mentioned it on the Today Show. I must have looked away for a moment and did notice anything except for the dirty dancing.
Our local band Aerosmith performed before the game. They played the blues standard Baby Please Don't Go ( This will be on the new album Honking on Bobo.) They then went into Dream On.
Beyonce performed the National Anthem.
They had some guy in a referee uniform sneak onto the field right before the second half kickoff. Nobody noticed him until he ripped off his clothes and began streaking. He was stopped by Patriots Linebacker Matt Chatham cross body block. He was then surrounded by police. This was not shown on TV. This was a publicity stunt as he was wearing only an athletic supporter but had a gambling web site address written across his chest.

I for one was really offended by the Janet and Justin half time show. There were millions of people like me "old folks" as it were who watched the half time show in disbelief.

My 76 year old mother was watching the game with my husband and I and they didn't want to watch the half time show and I talked them into it. I said Justin and Janet had class... ha... just goes to show how wrong I was.

The salute/tribute to NASA and the astronauts was wonderful and the National Anthem brought tears to my eyes and I heard that Tobey Keith and Willie Nelson sang but we didn't see it.

I couldn't believe it when Justin ripped off part of Janet's top and exposed her like that. In fact, I thought it was fake but both my husband and my mother told me it was real and they were both really upset and unhappy about it.

I spent part of yesterday morning sending emails to the NFL, MTV and CBS to let them know that we were very unhappy with the half time game.

What were they thinking? I guess I'm just too old fashioned and the world is turning way tooooo fast for me. I used to think I was pretty hip but realize I'm way too old for this kind of stuff! It's sad... now I know why my folks used to talk about the good old days! I thought the 60's were bad but this was really a shocker!

The streaker was stupid but at least we didn't see him fully exposed on television but the Janet Jackson fiasco had to be planned. Otherwise, I'd have thought that Janet would've smacked him! I know I sure would've!! (Not that I'm endorsing domestic violence but her reaction seemed to be pretty well staged) Had it been me, I would've cried from embarassment and shock!

OHH John I loved Aerosmith performance, but I;m biased I am A big fan the group I seen them twice in concert. As for Janet Jackson's performance, I am dissapointed that she would stoop to that just for plublicty she's got alot of talent going for her she doesn't need that.

Bikerbettyboop
02-03-2004, 08:27 PM
I agree with you both about what happened with Janet. It's such a shame because she really is a talented performer and I always thought she had the most class of all the other Jackson entertainers... still makes me sad and mad at the same time.

I would have loved to have been at the Post Game Party after the Patriots Game. Boston's own Aerosmith was the featured performer and they were joined by Kid Rock. They played Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, and a song off the new album that the reporter did not recognize.
Local Country singer ( Holliston Mass ) Jo Dee Messina also performed.
The life of the party was Snoop Dogg who is said to have kept the place Hippin and Hoppin until the hotel begged the Patriots to go to bed. ( They needed the room to serve breakfast )

Congratulations John! I bet your town was hoppin'! I know that you must be so very happy.

During the heyday of the San Francisco 49ers dynasty, I remember how thrilling it was to win Superbowls. I visited San Francisco after the last time they won and watched the parade. It was so fun!

I hope you and your friends had a real good time!:D

Regarding Janet... too tacky! But it will cost MTV and its affiliates millions of dollars in fines I'm sure. And they should pay every penny. That was a cheap tasteless stunt! It should never have been purportrated on the NFL!
And pictures of the incident are all over the internet. She was not wearing a pasty... it was a sun shaped ornament, and it showed EVERYTHING! Ugh! Tacky! Tasteless! Vulgar!:(

I was working Sunday but we have TVs in our wall units and have a satellite dish. The scandal was broadcast right into our showroom!!!!

Well, once again congratulations! My ex-husband was a devoted Patriots fan, and I know that this must be totally thrilling for you, especially 2 years in a row!!!!:D

i was talked into wayching the superbowl by a friend in the usa who was telling me what a big deal it is and how it would be worth watching. I turned it on and caught the entertainment so i saw the whole janet and justin thing and i thought it was really tacky!!
They are two really talented performers and they didn't need to stoop to shock tactics like that when there is such a cross section of people watching. I thought maybe Justin was tryin to top his ex Britney when she kissed Madonna at the mtv awards... and Janet has a new album and single coming out so I guess that explains why she was up for it lol
I love these Betty smilies btw lol

Yeha i agree it was a bit fake! Come on, that kinda thing dont happen by accident.

livingbooper
02-05-2004, 06:08 AM
Oh, it surely was staged to be sure!
But now with the threat of major fines everyone is back-peddling and making excuses....
I'm sure it was deliberately done for shock treatment, but now they are saying that it was supposed to have happened differently and Justin accidentally pulled too much of the cosume away. They also say that the pair practiced secret rehearsals. But even if part of the costume was supposed to have remained, it was still a tacky plan in poor taste.

It's too bad. Everyone is talking more about this sleazy mistake and no one is discussing the Super Bowl game itself.

The Patriots have been waiting for many years for this glory. I hope that it doesn't detract too much from their accomplishment.

My opinion:

What Janet did is not in her best interest. BUT! WE live in a society that has gotten away from all of the "olde" ways and values/morals of life. I mean...if it isn't tight or short...it won't even sell. If it isn't full of holes and has tattered-faded features...it doesn't look good on us or we don't feel comfortable in it.

I saw a talk show right after Janet's big interruption...as a matter of fact they were talking about her on the show when one of the guest speakers got up out of seat and adorned the talk show "hosts'" head with a pair of thongs!

Maybe one day some of the olde values and morals will come back into play. It sure is much needed!

Watch for the Emmy's or Golden Globe Awards coming soon!
Check out the units they'll be sporting!
I think we're in for a real shocker!!

I know what you mean....
Maybe I'm getting old, but I long for the days when people dressed in clothes that fit, that style was based on what you wore not what you didn't wear. I long for the days of honor and integrity, family values, and good old fashioned ethics and morality. What has become of our society?

Well, the good thing about being in this forum is that we all have the dignity and class of Betty Boop to look up to. How refreshing it is to come here! Don't you think?:D

Hey Neckless!
Yes, the Pats didn't have it easy.... they definately had to work for it, and the game was so close. Both teams were really the best this year. Sorry Boopfan, but I was kinda rootin' for the Panthers...
This sport is definately American Football, and was a contest of the best playing the best.
It was a great game! I love it when it is that close and you don't know who will win until the very end. I hate it when one team dominates real bad and wipes out the other team early on... kinda makes ya wonder if the wrong team made it to that point....

Sorry Boopitized about your birthday. That is unfortunate that it was on Super Bowl Sunday... you just know all the focus is on football! Well, your birthday will miss it next year at least!:)

Do not worry Boopitized. The Super Bowl will be played on Feb 6th 2005 so you will get lots of attention on your birthday.
Did you notice that the Patriots are the only team to win in February?
The Super Bowl was pushed back a week to Feb. 3rd 2002 due to the cancellation of games due to the Sept 11th events which was made up after the season ended. The Patriots won that day against the St Louis Rams.
The schedule had the game for Feb 1st this year as well. The Patriots win again!
With the game being played again in February does that mean that we will be back on top next year?
The Patriots would have no comment on that. It is their policy to worry about one game at a time.

Well, I don't care to comment on the halftime show at this point. I watched Beyonce sing the National Anthem, and I thought that she did a lovely job. I thought that her little white suit was very tasteful and cute. I hope that she decides to keep a little class about her....

As far as being winners.... well I am still waiting for Neckless to give us the answer to the question she posed!!!!;)

I loved Beyonce's performance of the half time show... yes she certainly has class and is a wonderful person!!

I was sorry we didn't get to see Willie Nelson and Tobey Keith... the commentators were on instead of allowing us to see the whole halftime show.

But the Superbowl will always be good no matter who's playing or who wins.... it's a fun game to watch.

Football is usually pretty exciting anyway and you're right that this one was because it came right down to the final seconds... what a finish for the Patriots! I have to hand it to them their kicker scored and won the game for them!! Hooray for the Patriots but I still like the Panthers.

The only other exciting game I've seen is when the Arizona Diamondbacks went to the World Series and we won!! Hooray for the Diamondbacks!

Now the Cardinals... that's another sad story....

Hmmmmmm. That is a thought! Probably will. What's his name? Justin Timberlake has already been "Re-accepted"...back into the entertainment world. There was the AWARDS show the other night and he even got up and openly apologized. Janet didn't care to appeaar or was tooooooo embarrassed to appear.
