She's really a good dog... often she is mistaken for an assisted living dog. She goes with us everywhere we go. She goes with us on vacation and has logged over 1,000 travel miles with us.

:) One of these day's I'm going to own A dog again. Don't get me wrong I love my cat dearly but I also love dogs too. Now if I could just get my husband to want A dog:rolleyes: He's A cat person. I had dog's all through my childhood and I just adore them.

Dogs and cats are so different personality wise.... cats are more aloof sometimes than dogs are and I think that my dog is a better companion to me than my cat... plus I can't take my cat in the car, he goes nuts but my dog loves going with me in the car or truck.

JennyBoop
01-28-2004, 07:08 PM
Oh trust me I know what it's like to have your cat in the car with you. The cat freaks out, my cat climbs in my lap while I'm driving, I have to have someone in the car with me just to hold her when I take her to the vet.

Bikerbettyboop

I bought a cat carrier for that very reason. I made the mistake of putting my cat in the car with me while I was taking him to the vet and he nearly caused me to have an accident! Plus the way he was howling, you'd have thought I was trying to murder him! It was not a good experience for either one of us.

Now if I get the cat carrier out.... he runs and hides!!

bexi3
01-29-2004, 05:22 AM
Cats really don't like being put in those carriers - mine certainly doesn't! I don't like driving when I have my cat in a carrier on the passenger seat - even though I put the seat belt round it....she cries and I hate it! :( But she always gets treats afterwards so hopefully she'll remember that next time I have to put her in the carrier! x

i think cats re for people who don't go out doors much and need comfort. and i think dog's are for the out-doorsie type :)

So I got home the other night to find devastation in the house......bits of fur everywhere - kitchen door open - empty tin of cat food in the hall....so straight away I presume that my cat and my housemate's cat have been fighting (they don't exactly love each other). And there's my little kitty, sitting next to all the mess with sticky fur and a very small cut on her ear. Of course we shouted at the other cat for beating her up but it soon occurred to us what had actaully happened! We realised that Treacle (my cat) had been in the bin in the kitchen, got out the empty tin, put her head in it and must have got stuck, causing her fur to get all gross and cutting her ear! She just sat there looking like a stray cat - smelling gross! I think she must have heard the word 'bath' cos she soon started to tidy herself up - but it took her a good couple of hours to get rid of all the mess in her fur! It was actually very funny! We usually put them both outside whilst we're at work, but both of us thought the other one had done it, and left the kitchen door open....biiiig mistake! hehe x

Hey Bexi that's a funny story about Treacle... cats do get into mischief sometimes don't they?

My sis told me that the other night she discovered one of her cats had gotten into her pantry and got ahold of a bag of dried beans and there were beans all over her kitchen floor! She said she thinks the cat must've shook them everywhere!! She even found beans on top of her refrigerator!

I've alway had cats and they can be as bad as racoons if given the right situation. Have you ever seen on cartoons where the cat walks on the shelf where all the plates are and proceeds to knock all the plates off on it's path to the other side?? Well I've actually had that happe. ( more than once)

Yes cats are quite limber but can also be quite clumsy too!

I had a cat once that was after a bird and she ran right into a closed door going after the bird. At the last minute the bird swooped upwards but the cat kept on running... nearly knocked her out!

I've never heard them compared to racoons before but it's a good comparison. My sis had a pet racoon for a few years! They are funny!! She called him Rocky the Racoon and he loved chewing gum! He'd go through my purse til he found my gum and then he'd unwrap it and chew it and put the gum back in my purse. He was funny... just like a little monkey.

Jess looked so cute when she was a kitten but I bet she does give you a run for your money now.. she just has that look about her doesn't she? A little mischief maker that one is!!

Rosie is beautiful... does she give Jess a bad time? or the other way around?

I'm sorry that you lost Polly (that's my mom's nickname) I had a cat named Scooter that looked like Polly and she died too and I cried for days. I loved that cat so much, I named our dog "Scooter" after my cat "Scooter"

I tease my German Shepherd all the time that she is named after a cat... ha ha.....

Hey, I didn't see any pictures of your feet in any of those pics. Did I miss it somehow?

My dog Scooter just turned 3 on Valentine's Day and she is already getting gray on her muzzle... makes me sad to think of her growing old so quickly. I want her to live for many, many years.

I saw on the news that President Clinton had to put his dog to sleep and he was very sad... it would make me sad too. Our pets love us unconditionally and bring us so much joy... it's hard to think of life without them.

that's what happened with me.... my dad saw my cat playing in the paint and yelled at me to grab him before he took off running. He was a mess!! But it was my own fault.. I should've put him in another room while we painted. Oh well...... I learned my lesson.

It's a bit of both!! She's just so mischievous! She gets into the cupboards - gets into the bins - knocks things off my window ledge. We have a table in the lounge which has magazines on the bottom of it, and she gallops through, skids on the magazines causing a huge mess, then has a mad half an hour just darting around the room! She's absolutely nuts! The thing is that I am a very tidy person - I like my house to be neat - but Treacle does her utmost to mess it all up again! haha!

Bikerbettyboop
02-25-2004, 09:53 AM
Treacle sounds like an Abysinian cat. I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly. My sister has 2 Abby's and they are Egyptian exotic cats and they jump on her tables and will jump on your shoulders too! They get up on her fridge and just run around like mad cats until they are tired. Drives you crazy if you are a visitor because you feel like you are being attacked. They don't bite just surprise attack you!! My sister said they were bred to be people cats. I tell her that most people don't like being around them because they are so "in your face" with their actions.

My cat is mostly just fat and lazy. He eats and sleeps the majority of the day away.

How old is Treacle? Perhaps she will outgrow her mischievous cycle? We can hope anyway.

bexi3
02-25-2004, 12:31 PM
Yeah, treacle is only 10 months old so hopefully she will grow out of it! It's not that she's in your face cos most of the time it's hilarious - just not when you don't want her playing with every single thing on the table.....!

They are cute when they are kittens and it's easier to accept their behavior when they're small but when full grown they can be quite a handful.

It's funny when they play hide and seek.... my old tom cat is past all that playfullness stage.. he just wants to eat and sleep and hang out with my dog. He's laaaazzzzzy. He likes to chase lizards in the summer time so maybe he's saving up his energy.

I have a sleeping bag here in the office that both my cat and my dog spend most of the day sleeping on. What a life!! They only come alive when someone walks through the door. Then all heck breaks loose. Scooter jumps up and barks and Smokey Joe my cat runs and hides under my desk!
