I'm a big Motown fan - Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder.....all of em! I have quite a wide range of musical likes and dislikes. I also loooove Musicals - I just love going to the theatre to see them. In fact I went to see 'Chicago' last week - it was fab!

At the moment I have Elton John's greatest hits in my car cd player but it could change to Morcheeba next week, or even Sheryl Crow. The only kinds of music I really don't like listening to is rap and rock - just not my cuppa tea! xx

Yes, musicals are fun... my family and I saw Mama Mia before the holidays.

The nice thing about working/living near a big city like NYC is the theatres. We try to go to the theatres and see a play at least once a month.

I don't like rap music either... I'm too old to understand it and I don't like loud or obnoxious music either. I don't know why they have to use bad language in some of the music today.

JennyBoop
01-21-2004, 12:05 PM

Hi Jenny I agree with Bexi that maybe it's not really old age... it's just that we all don't understand lyrics that make no sense huh? And some of the lyrics are so disrespectful of everything and everybody. I don't get it.

Sammiie... I live in a real small town in rural Arizona and we're a lot like the old west that you used to see in the old western movies... we don't have too many young folks here and the ones that are here raise horses and cattle. It's cool to see them riding their horses and helping their folks with the cattle.

BBooper.. I've never heard of Jean Paul and that's probably a good thing from what you're saying.

I've heard of Michael Buble - he's very god! He's voice was truly made for that kind of music wasn't it? I saw him on the television once or twice over christmas - there's definitely something about him!
There is a similar artist called Jamie Callum who is english, and also has that sort of style but he has taken some old songs and made them his own. He's very impressive...! If you like Buble, then I reackon you'll like Callum too! x

No I don't think I'm missing much with rap.. too many other kinds of music that is much more pleasant to listen to.

I checked out Michael and Jamie... cute!!!!

I like classic rock and country and ENYA too and a little bluegrass once in a while...

Like when I get together with my father-in-law and we play some of the old bluegrass gospel songs. We have jam sessions that are soooo much fun but he and my husband run away from me and we all end up laughing really hard cause I can't get my fingers to move as fast as theirs does when they're playing guitar.

Did anyone ever see "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" it was out a few years ago....

JennyBoop
02-03-2004, 05:19 PM
Kenny Rogers just seems like A really nice guy. Yea i remember when he toured with Dolly Parton, I don't remember Dottie West though. My mom went to Dolly World Long time ago said she really liked it. Another song by Kenny I liked was "Lucial" I think that's what its called?:D

Bikerbettyboop
02-03-2004, 06:23 PM
Yes, that's the name of it... sad song.... you picked a fine time to leave me Lucille........

I was interviewed for a job at Dolly Parton's radio station (near Dollywood) but I didn't get it. Boy was I bummed out about it.

Ok I started to watch 8 mile last saturday the movie that is loosley based off of his life and I had to turn it off way to much cussing for me every other word out of their mouths was A nasty cuse word. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saint when it comes to language but I just don't want to hear it all the time in A movie.

Kayla
02-11-2004, 08:49 PM
I feel the same way.I cant stand it when thats all they say.

Bikerbettyboop
02-12-2004, 11:48 AM
Me either... I didn't grow up around all that foul language and it makes me so uncomfortable when I hear it... movies aren't the only ones guilty of it.. some of the rappers are the same way... My mom would've washed out our mouths with soap if we cursed at all. We had to say "yes sir and yes mam" and couldn't mumble under our breath or we'd get smacked. And I guess I turned out alright.

Aminal
02-12-2004, 12:01 PM
It' s pretty bad when the only way to express what you want is through cursing. I've watched so many movies and I'm NO stranger to the street and it's lingo. But they dramatically OVERDO the foul language in movies because it is what the lower classes want to hear. The majority of rappers are undereducated streets that were able to get a sound together so for them it's all they know but one would think that movie exec. would have more sense and morals than that. But as a producer once said-- " there's no place for morals in today's movie making industry. The bottom line is how to make the most money while spending the least"

Bikerbettyboop
02-12-2004, 02:27 PM
You are so right.... and what's amazing to me is that the movie industry only makes one or two "G" rated movies or animated features each year and yet they do just as well if not better than the other "R" rated stuff.

Just look at NEMO and how well it's done!!
