It's been 2 months or better since I've been on the forum.
However after the hand deal healed up, I had to have surgery on my right shoulder. There was alot of damage in it from the car accident I was in back in May. Now I am recovering from it. It's a long process. The Doctor say's it will be a full year before I have 90 to 95% use of it, however it could be worse. Had the surgery Sept 16th, it's been 5 weeks now and still can't use it at all. The sling comes off next Thursday. ( I hope ) Then maybe I'll be able to start driving again. But might not be healed enough. I am so bored!!! Haven't been able to do hardly nothing for the past 5 weeks. Can't drive, can't ride my motorcycle. Have no fun. But I can type with one finger, left handed. But it's something.
Glad to be back. :D

Bikerbettyboop & All,

Yes I am feeling much better. Except my arm feels like it's pulling the shoulder apart due to the weight of the arm while it is dangling. But as Rehab Therapy progresses it will loose that feeling. I can't really sit at the computer desk and type for long, but I guess it could be worse. I was lucky with it. I am just now able to drive my stick shift truck. It's hard to make those left turns, but getting easier.

Thanks all

Elaine

Hang in there Elaine.. I know you're going through a rough time during your rehabilitation.

My sister was seriously injured on a terrible fall from her horse... and she got caught in the stirrup and was dragged for a long distance while the horse was at a full gallop.

Anyway to make a long story short, she suffered a serious injury to her arm and shoulder... which has required additional surgeries and while she was going through recovery, she was told to use her arm as much as she could even though it was painful.. but she couldn't handle the pain (she was in her 40's when she had this accident).... and now she is unable to use her arm as much as she could before because she just didn't work at it hard enough... so my advice is keep working it even though it hurts like crazy because that's the only way you're going to get it back to or close to normal again!!!

And we want to see you riding your motorcycle again!

Hang in there!! Love and hugs, Theresa

Ooooh, that sounds really nasty! I've fallen off a horse before and it hurt - but it wasn't at full gallop so I can't imagine how painful that must have been!

I'm Hanging, I went to therapy yesterday and asked the therapist what percentage he thought I would yet back. He said looks to him like I'll get 100% back. The doctor said 90% maybe 95% but the doctor has only seen me 4 times since the surgery. And the therapist would know more. He see's me twice a week now. It was three times a week until this Monday he put it down to twice a week. I try exercising it at home with 3lb weights I have at home, it hurts but I'm a fighter. I have stopped taking all pain meds. I have a high pain tolerence anyway. So I just stopped all the pain pills. I have the good days and bad days. Bad days I just don't do to much.

Bexi.. falling off a horse is dangerous.. been there and done that a few times myself and I guess that's why I now have a motorcycle and my sister still has horses.. she's a bigger glutton for punishment than me.. ha ha....

Elaine it sounds like you've come a long ways and done better than even your doctor predicted. Good for you. Hang in there. I know it's tough and we're all here sending you love and support. Keep at it... hopefully by next summer you'll feel like your old self again. I don't envy you having to go through this and I know it's a real struggle... wish I could help you out with more than just words.. so I'm sending cyber hugs all the way from AZ to FL!!

Bikerbettyboop, Thanks for the cyber hugs. Things are looking better now. I talked to my lawyer today and he said We're going for the full amount of the ladies insurance coverage. ( $ 250,000 ) and I can live with that. He said thats what we make a demand for, then they make an offer and we bicker back an forth until we can come to an agreement. I'de settle for $ 125,000 in my pocket. I am only 47 now, and have alot of years left. But I'll alway's have a 35% disability for the rest of my life. But I can live with that. And be comfortable. My boyfriend and I are buying a new house. And trying to close by the end of this year. So the extra money could be helpful. I still have $ 40,000 in unpaid medical bills and of course the lawyer gets his third.

Bikerbettyboop, Sorry I haven't been on the site lately, and I do miss it. However things are comming along, but kind of slow. There is a new problem now that I've had the surgery. Amazingly the surgeon forgot to tell me a few little details about the after affect. He had to cut all the muscles that support the chest. Now they are not even and the left is up and normal, but not the right. And now I'm mad!!! My lawyer said they have to compensate me for it, or they will have to pay for a ****** lift. And I'm not willing to go through that either. Hoping to settle around the 1st of the year. I can't ride my bike until after we settle.

ouch.. that sounds awful!!! My sis had to have similar surgery and she still isn't right.. she got hung up in a the stirrups of a runaway colt several years ago and she nearly died... she's had several reconstructive surgeries but she finally said no more... she'd had it... I sure hope you recover well enough to ride again.

in the meantime, Lizzy and I will remember you as we ride with you in our hearts!!!

I rode in my first Toy Run last Saturday.. 500 other bikes.. it was awesome.....

Gotta run... love and hugs to you!

Somehow I missed this thread until now. I don't always cruise through the thread index... but I'm starting to do it more.
We've talked about your injuries on other threads though, I remember.

I hope your recovery is going well. It certainly sounds like no picnic, but you sound very determined and very brave. I hope that you are doing much better now.
Please write to us again and let us know how you are doing.
I have missed you...and I think that everyone else here has too...
Did you guys get your house????

Well, please keep in touch.
And I wish you a very merry Christmas!:D

livingbooper, Yes we got the house and will close on the 22nd of this month. I didn't really want to be moving at Christmas time. But hey Merry Christmas to Me. My Sons are going to help Steve do the move. While my grandson and I bake Christmas cookies. We bake cookies every year. That's our own little thing to do. I bake and he decorates the sugar cookies. We have lots of fun. He likes sugar cookies, I like chocolate chip. Steve likes Peanut butter, and my Dad likes Oatmeal, so my grandson and I bake them all in one weekend before Christmas.

We went to a big bike show tonight in St. Petersburg. I only went because my Daughter was going to be there, and I wanted to see my youngest grandson before they move. He's getting big 5 mths now. Just a beautiful and happy baby boy. This was the first time I have seen him in a while. Just had to go, see all the bikes and the grand baby.

Hey Abettybooster!
Congratulations on the new house! I guess this means that you have chosen to merge your households. Well, he sounds like a terrific guy.
Hearing about your cookies is making me hungry!
I'm glad to hear that you are getting out. How fun to go to a bike show and see the grandbaby! That must have been fun! I hope that you had a good time. He sounds so cute. Don't they make it all so worthwhile??? To do anything?
Well, good luck on the move. I wish for you a smooth, uneventful move.
And Merry Christmas.
Please don't be a stranger and check in with us from time to time.

Take care!

Hi Abettysboopster... congratulations on the new house and I hope you had a good visit with your daughter and grand baby... time sure flies doesn't it? Next thing you know it will be spring and then summer. Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Lizzy... I'm feeling better now that the flu bug seems to be going away. Don and I went to the Harley Owner's Group Christmas party last night and we had a blast. Got a couple Biker Betty Boop gifts... that was pretty neat too.

You both take care!!!

Love and hugs,

Bikerbettyboop, we sign the final closing tomorrow at 3:00. Then we will be moving most of our stuff. Then Christmas day my son is going to come up and spend the night, he is going to help move the real heavy things, livingroom sofa and love seat they are the real heavy pieces they both have the recliners built in. And I'm not much help, can't lift anything over 8 pounds. Shouldn't be to much longer before I have built up the strength in my arm. The Dr say's it will be another 12 months before I'll have 90 % use of it again.

Hoping to get this all settled by Febuary. I can't take not riding my bike much longer. And I'm not going to blow a $ 250,000 law suit just to ride. Besides then I could buy myself a nice new Indian Scout. God I love that bike. I want one solid black and chrome :D

Just wanted to share something cute,

One beautiful December evening Huan Cho and his girlfriend Jung Lee were sitting by the side of the ocean. It was a romantic full moon, when Huan Cho said "Hey baby, let's play Weeweechu."

"Oh no, not now, lets look at the moon" said Jung Lee.

"Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I play Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Huan Cho Begged.

"But I rather just hold your hand and watch the moon."

"Please Jung Lee, just once play Weeweechu with me."

Jung Lee looked at Huan Chi and said, "OK, we'll play Weeweechu."

Huan Cho grabbed his guitar and they both sang..... "Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."

AND SO DO I...

Wishing a MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone on the Betty Boop website
