Hi Vicki! Welcome to the forum. Everyone here is mad about Betty. We always welcome new members and love to see their collections. Some people here have more than others (like houses crammed with BB goodies) and everyone likes to show them off - so if you want to post pictures, we'd love to see your collectables.
We're like a big extended family and I'm sure you'll fit right in!
Have fun Vicki!
Love Becky

Hello Everyone!!!!
Thanks for all the well wish for me and my mom. Things are really hard right now. We are just taking one day at a time. This is her third time dealing with this ugly disease. I really don't know how much more she can take, but she is fighting it every step of the way. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Also, just in case I don't get to talk again before Christmas, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your families. May everyone find peace, happiness, and health in the new year. God Bless. See ya soon!!!!!!

Well, Got some time on my hands because my sister and brother-in-law are staying with my mom until Wednesday (New Year's Eve) so I can get away. Don't get me wrong. I love my mom more that life itself, but I need time for me. Mom finished her treatments at the beginning of December. Now it is just awaiting game to see what is next. Trying to decide if she can have surgery on her back or not for 2 disc that are pinching nerves in her back. Thanks to everyone for the lovely thoughts and prayers. :) It is really nice to know that people who don't even know me or my mom are sending well wishes. I hope everone had a wonderful Christmas and has even a better New Year. Talk again soon!!!!
:) :) :) Gonna go and get some sleep!!!!!!

Hi Vicki!
Thank you for your well wishes. How nice of your sister and brother-in-law to sit in for you so that you can have some time for yourself. That has got to be the best holiday gift of all. I know that it is very emotionally draining to have someone you love fighting cancer. I am dealing with that very issue myself right now.
I send your family my prayers, and I hope that your mother is successful in her fight and regains her health.
My favorite aunt is fighting for her life as I type. She is undergoing her fourth and last chemo. The doctors say that this last time is a one time shot. I love her dearly, like a sister (she's only 9 years older than me) and I can really relate to what you are going through.
Take care! Enjoy your personal time! And thank you for checking in!!!!:D :D :D

Hi Vicki... I know how you feel about needing time away from the stressful situation you are in with your mother.
I went through the same thing with my dad when he was dying with cancer. It was horrible and I don't think people really understand unless they have experienced it themselves.
I always felt so guilty when I was away from my dad. He lived in my house for the last 4 months of his life and our house became a "hospital" and I talked to nurses and the doctors about my guilt feelings and they said that the caregiver also needs time and for someone to care for the caregiver.
SO I am glad you are getting some time away for yourself. It helps your sanity and don't feel guilty because it is absolutely necessary for you to have some breathing space because it is just too debilitating to watch our parents or loved one suffer so.
My thoughts and prayers and long distance hugs are with you!!!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I had a real hard time staying away from my mom for those couple of days. I felt like I was doing something wrong by taking "me" time, but my bills and things must get paid and done. I can't believe that I felt that guilty. I mean I wasn't even out having fun, just trying to get my life caught up. Well, anyway that feeling is over because I'm back at mom's again. The last 2 nights were real hard. She gets cold then hot. I am so scared. I don't get much sleep because I want to be awake every moment that we have together. Sometimes when she sleeps I just sit there and watch her. She tells me she used to do the same with me because I was sick alot when I was little. Guess I know where I get my "care giving" from. Well got to go now, my friend is getting ready to come pick up her lap top. Talk again as soon as I can.

Thanks for checking in. It was good to hear from you. My prayers are with you.
My mother has been writing to me about my aunt. She tells everyone to continue to pray, that miracles CAN happen.
So I pray for a miracle for your mother, as well as for a miracle for my aunt.
Take care. My thoughts are with you.

I'm really pleased that you were able to take a rest over christmas. Sounds like you deserved it. Im sure your mum is so grateful for all the love and care you are giving her. I can only imagine what it must be like for you. As you have seen from everyone in here, you have more support than you first thought! xx

:D Hello everyone!!!!
My friend is lending me her laptop so that I can get some stuff done that I need a computer for. When I read the posts that everyone put on, it makes me smile to know that I have a special place to go where I can "get away from it all". My mom is in a lot of pain right now, but I have to take her this week for a shot. The shot really seems to help the pain. The last to nights we spent a couple of "good hours" together looking at old pictures and scrapbooks. I never knew that I look exactly like my mom did when she was younger. This illness has aged my mom so much. Today while the nurse was with her I went to the food store for stuff and I came home to a cake. My mom and the nurse baked a cake for my dad's birthday. (mom said she wanted to do it because my dad passed away 29 years ago and I don't remember ever having a cake for him.) I cried like a baby. Sometimes I think life is so not fair.
My mom says to tell everyone thank you for your well wishes and the support and strength that you guys are giving me.
I wish I could give everone of you a really huge hug.
Well, gonna look around. Mom's resting, so I have some free time til its time for her meds. Thanks again everyone!!:) :) :) :)

It's good to hear from you. It sounds like you had a real good day with your mom. I hope that the two of you enjoyed the cake. I will continue to pray for you both.
It's funny. When I was young I think I looked more like my dad. Now that I'm older I'm looking more and more like my mom!
I'm glad that our prayers and support are helping you.:)
I wish you both a good week. I hope that she feels better.
Miracles do happen. My aunt fought hard and the life-threatening infection went away. Yesterday they removed the feeding tube and took the respirator out of her throat. My mother visited her in the hospital over the weekend and today she arrived to find my aunt sitting in a chair. We are now praying that she is in remission and that the bone marrow test will be a success. Her white blood cell count is good and she has a low platelet count but not so bad because she doesn't need a transfusion. Her pulse and blood pressure are good. She is a good fighter. We almost lost her there....
I wish for your mother a miracle. I will pray for good health to come to her. I hope that she can keep her spirits up, and I wish for her to be a good fighter too.
You are a very good daughter. Keep your spirits up too! I'm pulling for you!:)
I'm looking foreward to your next post.
Goodbye till then!:D

Good news! All the prayers helped.
My Aunt Carol tested well on her bone marrow test and her doctors say that she is in remission. All the family is ecstatic! We were all afraid that we were going to lose her this time and she fought and won. She is weak, but is on the way to recovery. The power of prayer cannot be underestimated. I am learning that firsthand. Miracles do happen!!!! Now we are praying that she regains her health and strength.
So Vicki, miracles do happen. Believe in it. I will focus more on your situation since my aunt is out of the woods.
I wish you both a good weekend and I wish better health for your mom. and a full remission as well.

Hello everone! Lizzy, I am so glad to hear that your aunt is doing well. I know prayers work. This is the third time my mom is battling with this. She is in the hospital now. Her red and white blood cell count is all messed up. It's been really rough this past week. Now my family that started helping me has stopped because mom said something to them that upset them. I told them not to take it to heart, but they said she was beening very mean. I told them that it isn't her talking, it's the illness, but they won't listen. Somethimes I wonder if all the treatments are ever going to help. Mom gets really nasty at times. She has told me to go home and never come back, but I just ignore her. I don't know how much longer I can take this. At least with her in the hospital, I can get some stuff done. Well I heading back to be with mom now. Thank you everyone again for all your well wishes and everything. I'll post again as soon as I can!!!!!!
Bye for now!!

Vicki, I really hope that your family are able to forgive your mum for whatever she said to them, and realise that her illness is bound to make her say some things that she doesn't mean occasionally. It must be very hard for her having had to battle with this twice before...
I really hope everything works out for you and your family. All our thoughts are with you constantly.
