Many of you know of and have Leslie Cabarga's "The Fleischer Story" which relates not only Betty Boop, but the history of the studio and the characters.
What many don't know is that there is a French version of the book "L'Historie des Fleischer" and it is more than just a translation of the original. There are pictures and drawings much different from the original book. I have a copy that I found 10 years ago, and I have recently found another copy. It's for sale on ebay, so go check it out. Because it is so rare, it's worthwhile to see at least what it looks like.

Aloha Leonard, First I must apologize to you as I am a novice with computers so pardon me if I make cyber boo-boo's.
I have a Betty Boop pin from my mother and I believe it's from the late1930's. Betty is holding the Hawaiian coat of arms with the word Hawaii on the bottom. I recently went to a collector's show to see if I could find another one and no one has ever seen this. Can you tell me if this is rare? Do you happen to know the value of this. I wish I could show you a picture of it, but I do not have a camera (besides, I wouldn't know how to load it anyway). Sorry. If you would kindly get back to me on this I would really appreciate it.

Much mahalo and Aloha,

Millie

Hi Millie,
Yes, it is rare. It is from 1938, and is part of a series of pins that used the same body, with different charms attached: 1934 Atlantic City, 1935 San Diego, 1936 Texas Centennial, 1937 Pan Am Expo, 1938 Hawaii and 1939 World's Fair. These pins usually go for $100-$300, depending on condition.
I've attached a picture of the pin on its original backing.
