I am not only a Betty Boop collector but an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast!!!

My hobbies include music and movies. Every week I go to the cinema, to the 'sneak-preview'. I also collect cd's and singles, from Phil Collins, and I'm still trying to get me some singles from boybands who split up 5 years ago to get my collection complete:o I'm also collecting child books from Enid Blyton, for my children to read (when I'll finally have them!!)
I also write poems and short stories if I have the time. And I draw fairy and mermaid pictues. And that's about it I guess...

Okay... I guess it's my turn! LOL

My current hobby is my reef aquarium which is a miniature ocean with corals, fish and invertebrates.

Other hobbies, which I haven't had the chance to touch since my daughter was born (she's now eight!), is woodworking and stained glass.

My other interests besides enjoying my daughter (and wife!), I have my home theater (which has turned me into a couch potato!) and enjoy doing the landscaping around our home.

I have additional interests and hobbies, but that's it for now! :P

All is well Theresa, thanks!

Mike,
It sounds like you are a busy bee with your many assorted hobbies. My husband also likes woodworking and has made some nice things around our house. Including an 800 sq ft. covered deck that he built totally on his own. He belongs to the Handyman Club of America.

I like to garden too but it's an ongoing battle between the bugs and moles/gophers and rabbits.... plus the deer and antelope.

Yesterday we killed a big scorpion in my office... I couldn't believe it!! I knew we had them in Arizona but I hadn't ever seen one in my office.

I have a friend who does stained glass and that is a wonderful hobby that takes lots of talent and patience. She makes stained glass wind chimes and she can't keep up with the demand.

My husband and I also play music... we took two bedrooms and made one big music room complete with drums, guitars, amps and PA system. Sometimes we get the place rocking!!!

Someday I hope to get a Betty Boop rose. Have you seen it? It's beautiful!!

Tien mean 10 in dutch, and my friends have shorten my name from Tineke to Tien so I decided to spell me name 10eke at some occasions. Or sometimes just 10. I hope you get what I just said...
Breda is about 60 km away from where I live.

I've been so busy that I've only looked at the ones that notify if anyone posts and haven't been to the index in a while!

This has turned out to be such a cool thread!!! WOW!!!!!!

I will describe my own hobbies in my next posting, but I wanted to respond to what I've seen here first. I am an artist myself, and I am very impressed with everyone's artwork. They are all such wonderful drawings, you ladies are all so very talented! I guess this goes to show that Booper fans are talented fans!
I love all of the pictures. The fairy/elf is exquisite. The BB pics are very cute. The drawings of the women are wonderful!
And KAYLA!!! WHOA! Yours are fantastic! You are indeed very talented and you should keep it up. Regarding the tiger...I am especially impressed! He is wonderful! I don't know why you are so hard on yourself about his eyes...they are fantastic! They look just like tiger eyes...they look like they are staring at something like tigers like to do.

I have a little tip I'd like to share with you budding artists... This might help you if you are not quite satisfied with your result but can't put your finger on it....
I have a problem with my drawings having a slight "lean" to them...you know, like your letters do when you write incursive. To make sure that I have drawn my figure straigt and well-balanced, I hold my drawing uo to a mirror. If am crooked on anything the mirror exagerates it. So I can fix it and that often solves what there is about it that bugs me, and this helps to make my drawing better...

Now that I have started to play with artwork on the computer I am learning how to redraw and clean things up that way. The cool thing is, you can hit a back button if you don't like what you've done and you can play with differnt effects before commiting to them. I'm having a lot of fun with learning my computer art program and learning how to make art. I use Adobe Photo Shop, which does more than touch up photos.
Lately I've been using my art skills with designing things like posters and business card for our business.

Finally, finally I've just finished designing our company logo. Its a picture of a dragon riding a Valkyrie motorcycle. Would you like to see it???

Well...I've got to get back to work now. I'll type about my own hobbies on my next post here.

Take care everyone!
Michael...what a great idea for a thread!!!

Well, I'm taking a break and I've reduced the size of my logo, so I hope it fits. This one is going to go on the t-shirts we are going to have made.
I know this is considered "commercial art" but I drew the dragon myself in ink pen and tweaked him on the computer to clean him up to my satisfaction. Then I added color. (It was very interesting to learn how to draw in pixels...) Then I put him on the motorcycle. I got a photograph of a Valkyrie from Honda's website. Then I used a program to make it look like a painting. Then I made the black bike red. Then I drew on it to make it crisper (with pixels again) and made it my own. Then I learned how to angle and add the dragon. The rest is history...
Thank goodness it's done!!!!
This took me a long time to do. I hope it was worth it....

Now doesn't he kind of look like my new "ugly kid"? (My fiance likes to call him that!)

---Lizzy

P.S.

I also like to ride my motorcycle, garden, arrange dried and silk flowers, watch classic movies, and do home improvements. We put in a fabulous pond this summer complete with a gazebo. Some day I hope to get back into the fine arts. I used to do ceramic sculptures, jewelrymaking, oil painting (big canvases!), and othe rkinds of sculpture.
When I was single I also loved to go out dancing on a regular basis. I should probably do that again...maybe I could shed a few of these pesky pounds that are hanging onto me lately....

And my ultimate fantasy is to be an actress... I took acting lessons when I was 30 and was told that I was good and had promise, but I did nothing with it (I looked 24 when I was 30 and could have pulled it off, darn it!) Anyway, too old now for such silly dreams, but my second fantasy is to be a back=up singer in a big band.
Which has led me to a new fantasy....
Bexi3 is a singer on the side, and BikerBettyBoop has a music room where she jams, so why not start a Betty Boop Band????
BikerBettyBoop can play whatever instrument she plays, Bexi3 can be the lead singer, and I could be a backup singer....
Well...anything's possible....
Anyone else talented to join the BAND???????????????

Well, I'm just having a bit of fun! Tomorrow I have to get up and go to work. This is a fun thought to go to bed with.....
:D

Haha...great idea! We'd have to have jammin sessions over the phone! Sounds like the band is coming along already....!

By the way, if you go on the internet, people are always looking for backing singers and stuff so if you really wanted to follow that dream, it is possible! And as for going dancing when you were single - drag Don along! Haha!

I've mentioned before that I'm in a drama group - well our group has a website, and I just noticed that they've added pictures from our last show. Thought I'd show them to you!

http://www.moat-players.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/bcky1.jpg I'm the one in the red dress - singing my heart out as usual! The girl at the top is my best friend. She was meant to be Marilyn Monroe, but her wig fell off - she carried on like a pro though!
http://www.moat-players.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/dave1.jpg http://www.moat-players.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/donna2.jpg

We had a lot of fun doing that show - I like doing the musical shows, they're a good laugh. Anyway, that was probably of no interest to anyone whatsoever, but I was just quite excited that they put pictures on the website!

When you press the IMG button to get your picture on, just do it more that once. I suppose you can have as many pictures on a post as you want. I wrote in between the pictures by simply writing in between the links that I created. That explination wasn't particularly clear - sorry!

Yeah, our website is good because other people can visit it to see what our next production is going to be, and book tickets - and now they can see images as well which is really good! We've recently added a picture of the director of the next show playing air guitar to Bohemian Rhapsody - (i can not spell today) at the Halloween party! Its very funny and I don't think he knows its on there yet! Haha! :) :)

There's a closer picture of me floating around somewhere in the forum - (not me floating around you understand - that would be an odd picture!) I think its in the 'For Livingbooper' thread. Its always good to put a face to a name, thats why Lizzy and I tried to get people to post pictures of themselves - but it didn't quite take off!! haha

Enjoyed the pictures of Becky, Tineke and Danny (my son's name too!) And Kris is cute too.

I am not a real player... well not like my husband anyway. He plays guitar and drums and sings really well... like Michael Mc Donald, Bob Segar and The Eagles and the lead singer in Alabama and Kenny Rogers....

I "try" to play guitar but not very good. I try to practice every morning though. I have 3 guitars... and a bass guitar that I can't play at all!! ha ha.

If you still are forming a band,I'll start the brass section. I play trombone with a couple of local big bands. Hey bexi3, are the pics of your theater group from a musical or a review? I love playing in the pit for musicals. Right now I'm playing 'Evita' for a local high school, and doing 'Oklahoma' next week. What shows has your group performed?

Hey Chess nut! The pictures are from a musical. We don't tend to do full musicals , we take certain songs from a number of different shows and make it into a medley of songs. Its a lot of fun. We did do Godspell about 2 years ago - it was the best summer of my life. It was an amazing experience. Even now, the ten of us who were involved in it still talk about it. I made some wicked friends that summer. I really can't explain why it was so special to us, but it was - great!

I get terrible stage fright! I really suffer with my nerves when I know I have to sing - once Im on stage I'm fine, but its a horrible feeling. You just have to overcome it - a bit of fear makes your performance better I think!

The panick on everyone's faces was priceless! ;) x

Hahaha! I bet! That would have been so fun to see! That's where method acting becomes invaluable because you have to stay in charecter and you can actually adapt if you have a full understanding of your charecter and her/his motivations.... You just go on and you can do it because you know how your charecter would react....Keeps you on your toes, I'm sure!!!:D

Well, I finally got a good figure and self-esteem when I was 29 years old. I was engaged at 30 and married at 31 years old. I was at my best in my 30's... this is the best decade in life I think...you still have your looks and you are more sure and confident in yourself.... Ah, I am more wise now, but the looks are fading....

Anyway, when I was 31/32 I went to John Robert Powers School of Modeling with dreams of becoming an actress. I would have been happy doing soaps. I learned grooming, how to walk a ramp, how to dress and look polished, how to do make-up. I took their acting course which is supposed to prepare you for TV commercials. I commuted to San Francisco for these courses, the school was right off of Union Square.
I went into a mass auditon to be seen by agents and an agent picked me up. But he never did anything with me. I worked retail back then and didn't pursue it. I then took acting classes at the local community college. I got A's and my teacher seemed to like me. While I was sitting at the cafeteria after my last class on its last day my teacher passed by and stopped to talk to me for a minute. He said that I had the talent and that I should audition for parts in the local community plays. I did one audition, but I didn't pick good material and I bombed. Again, my job in retail interfered (I had to pay the bills and put food on the table) and I didn't pursue it. Sometimes I think wistfully back on those days and wonder what I could have accomplished if I had really tried... Unfortunately I was saddled with a lazy husband who didn't like to work and had a hard time keeping jobs, and I was the main breadwinner, so my dreams were dashed....
But I love theatre and I undrstand a lot about it. Maybe I can get back into it when I get out of retail, when I'm a little old lady, and I could be a charecter actor!
I still have my portfolio of photos when I had dreams of being an actress....

Well, that's my story.

---Lizzy

P.S.
I was an extra in a Carol Burnett/Alan Arkin movie when I was in my early 20s. It was called "Choo Choo and the Philly Flash". If you ever get to see the movie, I appear in the bus terminal scene. They had us walking back and forth and back and forth... this was to make the terminal look crowded and busy. You can see me about 3 times, if I recall. One of these days I am going to see if I can buy this so that I can keep this little part of my personal history.
During a break in the morning, they had a table with coffee and donuts set up. I was holding my coffee and a donut and accidentally bumped the guy next to me and spilled coffee on him. To my horror I discovered that I had just spilled coffee on the star Alan Arkin! Yipes! I apologigized all over the place. He didn't seem bothered at all, in fact I think he was a bit amused, and he said it was o.k. Then I asked him for his autograph and he signed his name on a napkin!

My church used to do pantomimes every year so I started there when I was very young - maybe 7. I was just in the choras though then. I didn't sing in public until I was 16. I sang 'I know him so well' from the musical 'Chess' with my best friend in the drama group Im in now. I don't think I've ever been quite as terrified as I was at that point! But after that my confidence grew and I was asked to sing in other shows and I refuse to stop singing now! haha! Someone try and stop me!

Lizzy - thats so cool that you were an extra in a film! I'd love to do that. It would be a brilliant experience! I shall have to check out that film and look out for you!

It's actually one of my most annoying habits! I'm constantly singing even if it's to the jingles on radio or tv commercials. I do most of my singing in the car much to the passangers annoyance! I'm the person going mad singing and dancing in the car next to you when you pull up at traffic lights! Haha!

It would take a strong person to shut me up!

Ha ha! I've been known to break into song from time to time. Sometimes I totally shock people. I took a semester of voice training when I went to college and learned how to push the sound out through my diaphram...although I haven't mastered how to control that entirely...and sometimes I can belt out the sound. My speaking voice is fairly high and sweet, so sometimes people are really shocked. I think it's funny....
Yesterday I started singing a Christmas Carol at work. I can hold a tune, but I have a limited range... I've broken out in "Let Me Entertain You" a couple of times at work when people were in a frisky mood.
I used to like to go from time to time to a karoke bar to sing...sometimes it came off o.k., and sometimes I'd embarass myself royally... and wouldn't go back until I'd forgotten how embarassed I was! I always start off with Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'".:)

Anyway, keep on singing! It's good for the soul!:D

Families can be like that Kayla. You can't live with them but you can't live without them! I'm sure your family and friends don't mean to make you upset. They're probably' laughing with you not at you. Just learn to laugh along with them. Its a good thing to be able to laugh at yourself - just like when you fell over on the bus! Pick yourself up, have a giggle and move on! Don't spend all your time alone Kayla - you sound very sweet. Your friends should be glad to be around you!

Take care sweet cheeks! :) :)

Coming from a family of six kids, there was always some form of teasing going on all the time. Just let it go in one ear and out the other... they are just being silly siblings. And for goodness sake, don't lock yourself in your room!:)

My brother and sisster single me out.I am the only one they pick on.We do get alot of sibling riverly. They proberly want to make me mad they do that but it hurts when they act like I am not as good as they are.I usely just talk back.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Are they older than you?
Unfortunately sometimes people like to pick on their little sisters. :(
Hopefully they will outgrow it!
Take it easy.... Just try to ignore them. (When you ignore people who are trying to bully you it drives them crazy!!!:) )

Oh Kayla I am so glad to see that you are doing ok. I knew it had to be something like school to keep you away.. I've missed checking on you.

I know what you mean about wanting school to be over with.. I remember times when I reached a point where I just wanted a break and not just two weeks but two months or more and that's what it sounds like you're saying too.

Try to have some patience and hang in there cause the summer will be here before you know it. Just keep doing a good job at school and hammer away at those tests. You can do it!!

Just remember we all luv ya and miss you.

you should see a teacher at your school, someone you feel comforatble with and tell them how worked up you are and how it's making your diabetes complecated! they should understand and try and help!

Hi everyone, My other hobbies are jewelry making, photography, woodburning, drawing & crafts I also like to collect fairies & angels. My father is a singer he had a band for a long time & then he moved to Arizona. I try to sing & many people say I have a very strong & good voice but I have to learn how to breathe when I sing that is something you have to learn when you sing it has to come from your lungs(LOL). I also tried modeling when I get a chance & fix my scanner I will post some pix of my artwork & myself. I have alot of actors & producers in my family they all live in California. My friend's sister is Lisa B. she lived in England for a long time she is a model/actress/singer she now is in Highlander endgame. I went to Parsons school of design for a short time to learn how to make accesories like handbags, shoes, jewelry like I said before when I fix my scanner I will show you some pix of my accesories drawings. Enough about me Kayla I hope you feel better my sister also has diabetes & so does my father so I know what you go thru, just don't let anyone get you down don't listen too them they are just ignorant people who probably don't mean to be that way but that is the only way they know. All of the artwork I saw here was great. The pix of 10eke & I think bexi you are both beautiful. Well I think I said alot I will talk to you all soon. Love to all Gina :)
