I live in Paulden, Arizona... surrounded by cattle ranches and open range. It's like living out in the "wild, wild west"! We're about 150 miles north of Phoenix and 50 miles south of the Grand Canyon. Just goes to show you don't have to be a city slicker to love Betty Boop!

Don't be jealous... there are a lot of advantages to living in a big city like New York! We don't have the great ammenities you have... like wonderful plays and operas and theater.. not to mention the restaurants, etc.
I believe there is something unique about every town and city in the United States... the most important of which is that we are all Americans living in a wonderful country.
I did see that one of the Forum members is from Australia... now that's pretty neat isn't it?

Hola a todos! I'm from Puerto Rico, living in the deep south for 1 1/2 years now; a beautiful town called Fairhope, Alabama where I have the beach or the country. I'm new here, and also not familiar with all the Betty cartoons yet, the only Betty Boop I have is the Nurse, like me. ;)

;) Now wouldn't that be cute? I've seen the Nurse Betty Boop. I'm a Medical Assistant, kind of like a Nurses little sister:) Not to offened any other MA's out there, just speaking bout me. My flower beds are green with Iris, Daffodils, Paperwhites and Day Liles. They have buds on them soon to burst open. My Camehila (?) bush has huge buds, as well as the Rhodindruns(?). When things get started one almost has to stand over the flower beds to knock the weeds heads off! Only thing is, someone forgot to imform the birds that, "Hey it ain't spring yet" Like that cartoon where the guy screams "Quite!!!!!!!!!!!, Thank you:) . Come on Sunshine for those of you that don't have it yet. :D

coffeesonme, here during spring and summer, we were always under heat advisories. The air was so unhealthy, that the weatherman would tell us to stay inside unless it was an emergency. I don't even think I've seen any flowers bloom. The soil was so dry from lack of rain and on top of that we couldn't water anything because of water restrictions due to the drought. And now with the snow storms, I would gladly be outside working. :)
By the way, I'm currently studying to be a Nurse. I'm not sure exactly what type yet.

Netta: That IS extreme (weather). I didn't realize even the air is hard to breath. Have you ever been to Oregon? I have lived mainly all around the Northwest. Wash, Idaho,Oregon. A short time in California. But I was born in Oregon. When my yard starts blooming real full I'll certainly send a picture. At first spring everything is white, then the next phase that blooms everything is Lt. pink. It goes from there to hot pink, reds, tapering off in the fall with flowers that are yellow gold and orange. My English garden has the climbers.
We plan on building the greenhouse this season (ran out of time last year).
That's great that you are studing to be a Nurse. I have applied for a position at a Vascular Clinic, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one.;)
So do you grow indoor things? Or beings it gets so hot there do you have more of a South Western Flavor?
Well everyone take care.

Wow about the earthquake. On another forum of mine one lady said they also had an earthquake in California about 5.2 in size. I went to bed early with in inner ear infection so things were moving for me. I wouldn't of know an earthquake was going on in my neighborhood unless a building fell on me. Anyone else far or near feel any rumblings? Be safe, all of you;)

Hi Everyone, I live in Brooklyn New York & I have been a Betty Boop fan for many years. I have a very big collection of Betty, I love when they have Betty Boop as an Angel Or Devil I think that is so cute. It may sound crazy but I loved this shirt I have of her as an Angel so I got a tattoo of it. I love her. I am glad to see that there are people from all over that are collectors. :D

Hi boopsiegirl:
I live in Portland Oregon. How big is your Betty Tattoo? I was seriously thinking about getting a tattoo. A suttle one like a little Betty in her Nurses uniform. My name badge has that picture of her on it poseing as to give a shot, so cute. But where to put it? hummmmmmm, have a great one, everyone;)

Hi Valerie;
I am sure that there are a number of us with Betty Boop Tattoos. Mine has Betty sitting in a champagne glass. It is on my shoulder/back. I stole the idea from a "Betty Boop - Party Girl" Tee Shirt. I seem to be the rare exception since most of the people who admit to a Betty Tattoo are females.
Abettyboopster
02-23-2003, 09:18 PM
Boopsiegirl, I have a tatoo of the Betty Boop Angel. It's just her head & arms with wings. I have it tatooed between my shoulders, I also have her tatooed in her red dress, except I had the dress done in purple above my left ankle. But the Angel tatoo gets tons of compliments way more than the other one. Next I would like to have another Betty done on my low back between the hip bone area. Now I want a little Betty Boop scene with her and her boyfriend and her dog. I'm hooked on Betty Boop and tatoo's. I already have 11 tatoo's. They can be addicting!!!!
coffeesonme
02-23-2003, 10:10 PM
That is what my son said about tatoos. Although he has no Betty's he does have 10? I think. I thought of a cute one. Betty Boop as an Angel with her hands over her mouth as if to say "Speak no evil". Ya know like the 3 figurines, see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Maybe for some of us if you had a picture of your too's to attach it to the forum? They sound cool!;)
Valerie
02-24-2003, 04:18 AM
I think it's a good idea to have bb tattooed i'll have to think about it . It's a bit difficult for us french to talk to American people or English people as we never know before you tell us or trhough the conversation wether you're a boy or a girl and I can hardly imagine myself asking every time hello boy or girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For my opinion, it doesn't matter because any new idea about BB is welcomed no matter it comes from a boy or a girl mind . However, for me , it's always a game and I bet at any new post I receive sometimes I win sometimes I lost . In french writing you know immediately if you're are writing to a boy or a girl because the way certain words are written indicate us the feminine or masculin mood !

That's cute what you said about hubby picking the tatoo and the place, heehee.
My hubby said that he would like it in a place where only he & I see it. Well geeze;) What's a girl to do:confused: I wash thinking on the small of my back but hubby says he has seen these on other women when their belt line goes down and their shirt line goes up, at work and says he doesn't like that. Funny man.
He need not worry because I want my Betty Tatoo to depict what I am about, suttle but well placed, heehee :D Everyone have a wounderful day!;)

Hi! I just discovered this thread.
So I just have to say something.
I have never been to Texas, but I've flown over it....
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Right now it is in the height of summer and it is very hot and dry. We keep watering and watering, and it's hard to keep the gardens going. My town is a little inland, and doesn't get the cool air advantage of the bay or the ocean.
And responding to the earthquakes.... well, we natives are used to them, as I live close to the San Andreas Fault. It freaks out many people who don't grow up with them, but most of us just ride the wave. The only one that scared me was the famous Loma Prieta one in the late 80s. I was at work, the neons hanging in the windows were banging on the windows, and the building started creaking in the corner. I was on the phone to a customer and told hm that I had to go and ran outside into the parking lot. We had a power failure after that that lasted many hours. That one really scared me. But usually I miss them (you can't feel them in a car when driving, and usually not while in bed unless you have a creaky bed) so sometimes I'm disappointed at missing them. I don't like them to happen, but if they do, I'd like to be able to feel it....
Take care Boopers!

Hey guys!
I forgot one other question....
I am an older woman (who feels about 25 inside) and I have no tatoos. My fiance has them, including his newest which has my name.
Some of you know I love motorcycles.
Sounds like a few of you have BB tatoos or are considering getting them.
If I get one I'd like one of Betty Boop.
What do you think?
I'm really considering having it done. I'm 48. Am I being silly?
I'm thinking that it would be really cool, but I'm a real wuss about pain. But I'm feeling motivated now and I think that a BB tatoo would be so cool!
You guys gave me some real great ideas about where I could have it placed, as I'd still like to be subtle.

I downloaded Comet Cursor a few months back, enjoyed fun cursors, had a lit candle one for Christmas. My pop-ups were getting out of control and I ran across an ad for a program for SpywareNuker. I had heard about spyware, but the ad educated me. I manage my credit accounts and banking online, and I like to buy stuff online, and I didn't like the idea that people were watching my surfing and buying habits on the internet. I downloaded the SpywareNuker, ran the scan and it found almost 400 spyware elements on my computer. At the end I looked at the report which tells which programs contained the spyware. Over half, maybe 2/3rds were from comet Cursor. I figured that if I let SpyNuker get rid of the elements that maybe I'd still have the fun cursors. But after I ran the clean-up sequence Comet Cursor totally disapeared. "Hot Bar" and "Gator" also install spyware.
After I ran this, I was clean of spyware for a long time. Although I try to avoid clicking into the pop-up at this site, my cursor accidentally clicked into it one morning as I was typing, and Comet Cursor installed itself. I immediately ran my SpywareNuker, and it found 132 spyware elements on my computer, all Comer Cursor.
So again, I recommend to everyone not to download Comet Cursor, unless you don't mind sharing your internet travels with unknown watchers. Spyware is a marketing device used to determine your buying habits so that marketers can send you their ads. But I think that it could degrade into something less innocent. I still hate that they do this without your knowlege or permission.
Take care. Surf safely.

Really? I never really wanted a tatoo in my life before, but lately I've been wanting one since I've been noticing that more women are getting them.
Now I just need to pick the artwork.
And get brave!
Thanks for the encouragement, John!:D

Hey Lizzy... you've got more courage than me. I think tattoos are so cool but I know it must hurt a lot to get one so I'm a big chicken, just call me a coward!!! Let me know if you decide to go for it and which image you're going to have put on.
livingbooper
08-12-2003, 01:54 AM
Well, I'm a chicken too, but I've opened my big mouth and my imagination, so I guess I'll have to do it soon..before I really turn into a chicken... cluck cluck cluck!!! lol
I will of course have to have a Biker Betty one! If it's not too expensive. Some of her other images are simpler and would probably be cheaper to do. But I've gotta go with our favorite girl!:D
I'll let you know how it is... from a chickens point of view!!!

I went with a friend once to have a tattoo put on her arm and I told her I'd sit there and hold her hand.... well the first zap and she jumped 20 feet in the air and I ran out of the shop... I wasn't much help to her.... my advice... get some big strong guy to hold your hand!!!:D

My boyfriend just got a tatoo from his shoulder to his elbow which looks soo painful. He said it bled quite a lot, and this morning there was a print of it on his bed sheets from where he had been lying - so make sure you put old sheets on your bed when you have it done!!
He tries to make out that it didn't hurt but I think he's just trying to be manly!! Hehehe

hi bexi
i was tempted to have a BB tattoo too but i'm afraid of infections! more than painfullness
bexi3
08-15-2003, 09:56 AM
Well as long as you look after it and do what the tatoo people tell you about after care, it should be fine. I say go for it!
livingbooper
08-15-2003, 02:09 PM
Yes, my understanding that there is post-tattoo care. If taken care of properly there should be no problems. There is special stuff they give you that you put on it to make it heal right.
Well, I'm getting chicken again.....

Hi Everyone, Getting a tattoo does not hurt that much' it feels like someone is scratching in the same place for awhile it's more like an annoying pain. I have a Betty Angel Tattoo on my right upper thigh & it did not hurt that much. You really can't get an infection, unless you don't clean it. They have disposable needles so you can't catch anything & you bleed but not that much. Well I hope I filled you all in a little. Talk to you soon Gina:D

Hi Valerie, I am so happy that you wrote to me I miss you too, we used to write to eachother all the time. I wrote to you in a couple of post's asking how your family was & I did not see a response so I figured you were busy. I am also amazed at how we are all talking & that we are from so many differen't countries. I always wanted to go to France, my grandmother went there & she said it was beautiful & a friend of mine got engaged on the Eiffel Tower. We just had a blackout here in New York it was terrible we had no lights we could not eat because there was no electricity but the power was restored thank God, my nephew was so scared he said he thought there were monster's under the bed we felt so bad. Here in America it is the same way with work it is no different it's just work, work work(lol). Well anyways it was great to hear from you I missed you hope to talk to you again Gina :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;)

i have many problems with my computer and i think i'll soon have to take it to the "doctor" so if you don't receive any post for a moment don't panic !

Yes they are. And there are several other nicknames for Elizabeth as well. I think that Elizabeth has more nicknames than any other name. At least, that's what I hear...
Lillybeth, Lispeth, Liz... That's all I can think of for now, but I know that there are more....
Isabel in Spanish...

Mine are Joseph Simeon or Jacob Simeon - not sure which yet! I also love the names Nathan and Joshua. And for the girls - Holly Elizabeth, Alyssa and Megan. Buuuuuut, I'm lacking quite an important contributing factor right now, so I think it may be a while before I have children! Dispite the fact that my step mother casually threw into conversation the other day that she feels that she's ready to be a grandmother now! I was just like - 'yeah, you're in for a long wait!' ;) xx

Thanks Neckless! Sounds like you live in a great place! Especially right now. California is cold now too, but not a freezer like New York. I will read more about your home later. Very interesting indeed!
Thanks for sharing! (I love the visual aid!)
I know where the Carribean is, but I didn't know where in the Carribean it was.
Now this gives me one more destination to want to visit. I keep meeting Boopers who live in fabulous places who make me want to travel. I hope that my new business is successful so that I can become rich and visit these places. And Beliz would be my winter destination for sure!;)

Hi Lilbetty:
What will you like to know about the beautiful Island? At least you have a few puertorican friends, I only met one family here, but just went back to PR. The people where I live are very "conservative", and the only hispanics are mostly Mexican working on the farms. They have been very kind to me and they are teaching me the southern way. Take care.

Missy,
I guess living in Queens , New York is like living in a big City. There are private homes, apartment buildings and some small stores. For the larger stores, we go to a mall. There are a lot of places you are able to walk to instead of driving. Last week's snow was about 10".

Hi everyone. It's been a really long time since I've been online. But I am here in Pasco County, Florida and we are still getting hammered by Frances!!! But it's just about over now, she's onland again in the upper north west part and exiting. But the rain bands are causing an awful lot of flooding, Trees down all over. I only live about 4 miles from Hudson Beach. You can't get no where near there. There has been 3 casualties so far. I was evacuated Friday. And went home last night just to see how we made out. Fortunetly I had no damage. Just power outage since yesterday from 9:00am until today at 2:00 pm this afternoon. That was enough for me. But the folks in Polk County where hit in the last Hurricane, only 2 1/2 weeks ago. And now again. Record has it that there hasn't been 2 hits this close together in the past 100 years.
However I still like living here. The Hurricane season ends in November. Last year we didn't have any Hurricans hit Florida at all. I guess we're getting last years along with this years at one time. There is one more out there named Ivan. I'm praying it goes anywhere but here.

OK, now the hurricane has passed me up. I am fine and not to much damage for me. However I have been helping some friends clean up the mess that they got trees down. I was out of power from Sunday morning at 8:00 am and the power came back on this morning about 11:30. It's so nice to have electric. Cooking is much easier, and it is cooler inside now.

That's great that you didn't suffer too much damage in the huricane. It was really bad. It's nice to help out others who arein need.
T'was a good little while to be without power.
Wow...isn't that something...the things we take fir granted? Our electricity...for cooking and lighting and cooling.
Oh the powers that be!!
I sure am glad that the storms have moved on.
