View Full Version : A Sad Time for Me

I wanted to share this sad time with each of you that love Betty Boop. In my office I have had it done up in Betty Boop. I brought most of my collection to my office because I spend so much time here and so I could enjoy it plus share my collections with others. It seems when someone comes into my office they lose the stress and its like you are in a different mood (better). Yesterday I was told by the new manager that it was not professional and that I would need to take it home. I could only keep a couple of pieces here but this was a business and it needed to look like one. Everyone here started remembering me when they were out and saw something with Betty Boop they would call me a tell me where it was and what it was. They would even tell me I never noticed her until they met me. When I started packing the things away I suddenly felt like my identity was gone. Today a lady come by to see me and said it was so different now. Cheery attitude was not there and she missed it. I know management changes but if it doesn't hurt anyone, why change it. If it makes a person feel good and the job gets done, why change it. Please help me through this emotional slap.:( :(

gee... your boss would hate my office and my home... everywhere you look is Betty Boop! That sure seems unfair that someone would actually make you remove items that are your personal things. Did the manager think that it really affects your job performance?
Yes, it seems very unfair to me too that someone would make you take away your Betty Boop collection. hmmm... how does that manager feel about personal pictures, etc. Are you being singled out or is this new office policy being applied to everyone? Make sure you aren't the only one that this is happening to. If it is, then I'd complain about it.
hang in there.... hopefully it will all work out for you.

AHHH no Betty in the office... haha have you ever gone into his office? I bet its full of ****! That's so horrible... what could you do... um well you could maybe talk to him and see if you could keep a few things that mean the most to you. I mean I agree that if your whole office is covered than it might be a bit much but a few little meaningfull things should be fine with your boss! Otherwise hes/she's a horrible person!
hope it helps

Well things have gotten some better. I am a Customer Service Specialist. Some of my customers came by to see me and saw that Betty Boop was all gone. They made comments that got back to Mr. Harty that said "that is what I like about coming to see Betty is to see what new pieces she has. After he got emails and phone calls he came to me and said to please bring it back in. He did not realize that people enjoyed it along with me. Here on the UNCW campus they are remembering me by Betty Boop. Some don't even know my real last name. They will call me and say they saw some Betty Boop and was wondering if I had that piece. I think that is so so cool. Thanks for thinking about me and my situation.

My wife thinks I have an obsession with her. We are retiring to Arizona in a few months and I wanted to the whole place with BB but all I can do is my den and the guest room.

Hi bear4092... what part of Arizona do you plan to retire to? I love Arizona!!! When are you moving here?
Is your wife familiar with all the beautiful Betty Boop decorator items there are available? There are some lovely bath and kitchen items as well. Don't give up working on her!!
I recently had an interior decorator buy a lot of Betty Boop items from me that she put in a model home !! She said it was wonderful to do the whole house in a Betty Boop theme!! I thought it was an excellent idea and I shared all my suggestions with her. She said she was amazed at how much there was in Betty Boop decor. I think more people should decorate with Betty Boop.

Chandler area? August?

Oh I know exactly where that is at... it's north of Phoenix... oh boy August is going to be a hot time to move.
Have you ever been to the Prescott area? We are about 120 miles north of Phoenix. Much cooler weather here.
We've lived in Las Vegas and Tucson and it was just too hot for us.
Coming from New Jersey, you're going to find a totally different climate zone out here in the southwest.
Give us a hollar if you ever come up our way. We love it here. Prescott was Arizona's first territorial capital (before Phoenix) and is Arizona's Christmas City and also home to the oldest rodeo over the 4th of July.
I hope you come to love Arizona as much as we do. Let me know if you need any info about our area and I'll be more than happy to send it to you.

That's so annoying! I'd hate to have to get rid of my bettyboop stuff! I have a bettyboop pen that I take everywhere with me, I know that's too small to relate to your problem but I'd hate if I was told to take it away!

Mooreboop...
That is a class " A " success story!!!
Good for you!
For the life of me...I can't understand why SOME people go off on these "I'm in power" trips...and "You'll do it as I say or it's the highway!"
I'm pleased that you are pleased and back to normal.
What this nerd of a boss should have done is called you in and talked about it with you FIRST...or better yet...go home and talk about it with his significant other...bet she would have told him..."Oh honey...what can it hurt"?
Keep on Booping on!

I'm so sorry . I don't think it hurts anyone either. I'm 33 years old and have been collecting since I was 10. I would be very upset. The reason I feel that way is , I got married and my house isnt big enough to display all my things. So now it is all put away in many boxes and put in my parents attic for now. Can u take pictures and put them in your office?take care and kepp booping ;)

Oh, my God!!!Dont worry that dude is out of his mind , I beleive that the actions are the most important to judge a person. That manager of yours is crazy , if you do all your work and a dedicated worker, there is no reason to bother. Is just those type of persons that don't understand the beauty of Betty Boop.
CHAO, and take care, because us boopers care.

wow this is an old thread... the model home that has the Betty Boop items in it has probably been sold by now. Wouldn't that be neat to buy a house already decorated in Betty Boop?

Most of us grew up with her and I don't see anything wrong with it so I would tell them to leave me alone it is just a reminder of my childhood and some of them seems to be reminded of the thing that they grew up with and loved.
