Hollywood Hotel Plaque

Hey, I have an old wooden plaque that I found in a box full of older Betty Boop stuff. It has a note on the back that said it came out of the Hollywood Hotel when it was being re-furbished I think the note says early 80's or late 70's, (I can't find it right now or I'd tell you for sure). It's all wood carved and hand painted. It doesn't look like a mass produced piece.

Any thoughts on it?:rolleyes:

Hi,
From your description, this sounds like a custom-made item, perhaps special for the hotel. I've not come across anything that seems similar, but if you would post some pictures, that would be very helpful.

Sorry it's taken me so long. I still can't find where I put it. I put it up so it wouldn't get damaged or lost... :P I guess I put it in a really REALLY safe place. HA HA HA!! I have one more place to look when I get home and then I will post a photo.

Ok, so Like I said, it looks like a homemade pc. I found it in a box full of Betty Boop stuff I bought like 5 years ago. I never thought much of it, cause I never really liked it. But, I did think the note on the back was a little interesting. Now that were selling our house I am starting to scale down on 'things' and I was going to put this in a yard sale until my Mother in law told me I should check to see if anyone has any idea what it is, if it did come out of the Hollywood Hotel, (or Hollywood Celebrity Hotel).

It has the # 55 written on the back, and that is the room # the note says it came out of. So.... Any thoughts, or interesting news on this would be appreciated. I'm sorry the photo isn't any better, I'm no photographer and I really don't know how to post photos here. :)

So, that image is from a post card, and from the 1970s vinyl record album cover. More than likely someone took the printed image, glued it to the wood; or used it as a template to carve/paint the plaque that you have. Very unique, very nice for a collection, but probably not worth a lot, just as a curiosity piece. I'd sure add it to my collection!

It's all hand carved and hand painted. Like I said, I know it's not a mass produced pc. but it is very unique, I was just wondering if it really did come out of the Hollywood Hotel, it would just add to the charm of it if it did. It's interesting to know it's from a postcard picture. Thanks Leonard! ;) Whoever made it put a lot of time into it that's for sure! :D
