We went and got it yesterday straight off the showroom floor. A Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc. The color is Black Cherry. It is sweet. The pictures do it no justice at all.

We Went for a short ride on it Saturday. It was fun! We got a friend of ours to drive our car with the kids in it to church Sunday night and James and I rode the bike. It was fun too! Got a little chilly on the way home but I enjoyed it alot. Can't wait to go riding again.

My first motorcycle was a 450 Nighthawk. It sure was fun! The smaller bikes are more "zippy", although they do vibrate more on the open road. Right now it is junked in my backyard but I hope to restore it one day....

It sounds like you had a lot of fun. Once you get the bug... well... you just have to RIDE! I still need to replace my broken side mirror. I can't decide whether to just buy the one mirror stock or go for a pair of custom mirrors.

Here is me last summer in front of my Honda Shadow. The bike right behind it is my boyfriend's Honda VTX 1300.

If we all rode together we would look like a Honda ad!!! And we would be color co-ordinated with our red bikes!:D

That is a nice bike Livingbooper. it would be great for us all to go riding together, if we all lived closer to each other. : )
DH got a set of bags for his bike. It has the saddlebags, windshield bag, tool bag, sissy bar bag, barrel bag and backpack. They are diamond plate roman rock design, buffalo leather. They are going to look great on the bike. Now all we have to get is a windshield for it. He won't let me put BB on it.

Great looking bike. My husband and I ride together. We have Yamaha Ventures 84 & 89. He does the driving to big for me. I want a trike though. But I have shirts that I made myself with Betty Boop on them along with my ID of MamaMo. That is the name that I also go by on the Venture site that we are on.

I always recommend that you take a new rider's course... you can learn.. it will just take time. Start with a small bike.

livingbooper
04-16-2007, 05:05 PM
Definately. Buy one that is small and used... even if it isn't pretty. Get one cheap. It's just for learning. Then when you have mastered it and feel comfortable, go find the dream bike.;) :)

Bikerbettyboop

MrsBoopster

That's what DH did. He got a cheap and old bike to learn to ride on, then he went and got his "dream bike", he always said he wanted a Honda Sabre and thats what he got. Me, well I like the Harley Davidson Sportster myself. But, I also like the Goldwing. It may take me awhile to get the one I want. HAHA. :)

The Goldwing is HUGE! I don't think that I'll ever go that big.
I like my Honda Shadow. It's a pretty V-twin and it cracks we up when people walk up and say, "Nice lookin' Harley".... hahahahaha! I've got mine all decked out in studs and fringe.:)

Bikerbettyboop

MrsBoopster
04-18-2007, 01:34 PM
Dh was looking at a Honda Shadow V-twin, than decided on the Sabre instead. Yes the goldwing is big. Our church did a motorcycle run and I rode on our Pastor's goldwing and it was such a nice, smooth ride. We need to get a siisy bar back rest for our bike, but DH hasn't had any luck finding the one he wants. He is starting to get picky about the bike. HaHaHa.

We will still be careful not to scratch it up any more. Our insurance covers it if DH decides to get it fixed. I had some nail polish that was just about the same color as the bike so he touched it up with that so the pait woundn't start to crack and peel. It looks alright.

OH NO!! I am so sorry to hear that your bike was involved in a minor accident. I bet your hubby felt just horrible that he scratched a few spots into the bike but you know it's bound to happen that we all get dings and scratches on our bikes. The only perfect bike is one sitting on a showroom floor that never gets ridden!! SO I'm just glad to hear it wasn't dinged up due to being dropped on the highway and glad that you both are still safe and sound. Don't worry about it, just enjoy yourselves and ride safe!!

Dh had to buy another set of saddlebags for the bike. His got hot from being so close to the exhaust pipe, they melted on the bottom. Then he tore them somehow??? He ordered a different kind this time. They are supposed to be a tougher leather. James was going to let me move his bike the other day, but I guess I'm not strong enough to even get it off the kickstand. Instead, that is how I must have hurt my ankle, where I was trying to get that big bike up off the kickstand. Lets just say I will be getting a smaller bike than that.

Here's a little info I found referencing the Trikke.

No Impact - Just Muscle Exercise! Most Trikke owners are in their 40s, 50's, 60's and some youngsters in their 70's. The Trikke is also extremely popular with the younger generation. The fun, comfort and security of the Trikke has people of all ages enjoying the outdoors. Running is high impact on your joints, walking is just too slow, inline skating can be hazardous. The Trikke is the medium between walking and running but with no impact - just muscle exercise. Go longer distances to get that extended workout without over exerting. Inline skating (roller blading) only has 2 points on the ground which makes you vulnerable. The Trikke and it's 3 point stance gives you the comfort, security and stability that most prefer. You'll also burn 100's of calories and tone your muscles while getting a good cardio-pulmonary workout that is so important to your daily health. You'll also enjoy more scenery! Carving for 5 to 10 miles is very common on the Trikke. You'll intrigue people and turn their heads.

Anyways we had a great time. Went to Lake winnie amusement park. Had a nice dinner. Went to see my dad and my brother. We forgot to bring the camera so no pictures to show you.
The one place we wanted to go we couldn't because of a bad car wreck blocking the interstate and we couldn't seem to find our way around it.

Oh Dora, I never meant to imply it was easy cause it isn't ... believe me.. I know what you mean.

I once visited a friend of mine who has thick gravel in her driveway and I expressed my fear to her about riding my Harley out of her driveway onto the road because of the gravel (I've gone down in gravel 3 times) and she said "oh, it's easy ... piece of cake" and I said "That's easy for you to say!" LOL!! Cause she was standing there watching me while I veered and swerved my way out of the gravel onto the road... it was a stressful few seconds getting out of the gravel.. and I always breathe a huge sigh of relief that I made it ok. :)

Hi Lisa... when I was younger, I rode a little Honda Trail 90 which is a very small bike... but that was when I was a teenager. I became a passenger from my early 20's until my early 50's and then I decided to get my own bike. It was a challenge and still is a challenge to ride and sometimes I even consider giving it up but then when I ride it again, I change my mind and decide to keep riding it!! It's never too late if you really want to do it and I tell everyone to take the beginning riders' classes!! They are invaluable in teaching the right way to ride safely! ;)

That's true! There are ladies only courses available. When I took my class, I was the only woman rider and the oldest person and the Phoenix newspaper came and interviewed me when I passed the tests and got my license. It was a real challenge and I was so proud that I got my license!! ;)

Their was alot of people that went to watch the motorcycles that drove in cars and trucks.

We are going out on the motorcycle again this Saturday. My Mom and Dad are going to watch the baby and the other two kids are going to their friends to play. This will probably be my last ride for this year.

Hi Mrs. B.... I hope you and James have a real nice ride this weekend. We had hoped to ride our motorcycles this past weekend but it was spent once again working on the hay/tack shed (which still isn't complete yet!!)

My sister and I did drive to the Grand Canyon Harley dealer to pick up a motorcycle cover for Don's Heritage Softail. It was a special order item and it's been there waiting for him to pick it up for 3 weeks and he was afraid the dealer would sell it, so my sister and I drove up there Saturday and picked it up.

We saw a big rally that was going on there at the dealership. It was cool seeing all those motorcycles and made me wish I was on mine instead of driving in the car!

Sounds like you need to take a break and go for a ride on your motorcycle. I can't wait till Saturday to go riding.

Yes, I definitely need a break to ride!! Don rides every day to work but I don't ride often enough. My sis and I drove to the Harley dealer and there were a lot of bikes there for a big rally they were having. Made me miss not being on my bike!

James rides his bike to work everyday to. I am still trying to get a hold of an older bike that I can practice on. We have a Harley Dealership about a half hour from here.

There are 4 Harley dealerships in our area... all at least 1 hour away in any direction. My sis was amazed at the prices of Harleys when we went to the Grand Canyon dealership... I guess she didn't realize they are as expensive as they are. But it's always fun to look at the new bikes!!

I hope you can find a smaller bike when you first start riding... it's easier to develope your skills on a smaller motorcycle.

Have you seen Wild Hogs yet? We watched it last night on DVD. It was funny.
