Hi BikerBettyBoop,

I left and then came back.

To answer your question in the other thread, Freedom Cruisers is a club formed by regular people who just want to ride. The requirement to be in the club is that you have to participate and go out on some of the organized rides. These can be very fun, especially when several chapters meet up and you go out as a large group. It can be very grand and fun. People help each other on issues with their bikes. And there always seems to be a lot of eating...lol. The rides always have a stop or two to grub down, and these people love to eat!!!! Don has only been in California for a little over a year and came out by himself. He had no friends here, but now he's developing a nice circle of friends through the club. (Takes a little pressure off me to be his sole source of entertainment...)

BikerBettyBoop please post a reply here with your Biker Betty Motorcycle Club address, and also could you post the Laughlin addy here too? And didn't you mention a woman's motorcycle organization?

I am very interested with all of the above.

Ride safe and ride free!
Take care!

My husband and I rode up to the Grand Canyon for the Harley 100th celebration there. It was quite an experience... about 7,000 Harleys were there. It was cool.. but rained so the weather wasn't cooperative! It was a long cold ride home last evening!

Last Saturday Don and I were riding to the dealer and a guy on a Harley Sportster passed me and then passed Don. As the three of us were riding along together, a woman turned left in front of us and the guy on the lead bike slammed into her. It nearly killed him. He is in critical condition in ICU at a trauma hospital in Phoenix. I was pretty traumatized by it all and even considered giving up riding motorcycles. But decided that I'm not going to quit yet.

So Please help us spread the word... tell all your friends to watch out for motorcyclists when they're driving their cars or trucks. Let's make the world a safer place for motorcycles!

Hear hear!
Let's spread the awareness!
I am so sorry that you had to witness that.
Remember, just be focussed and aware, and remember all of your training. I remember the motorcycle course and the tips they gave us when encountering a dangerous situation. And we that ride on two wheels must always watch out for those driving with four.....

Ride safe!

Yes Lizzy you're right that the training helps. I had to stop in 2 seconds!! And it was mighty scarey cause my back wheels slid but just glad that Don and I and all the other cars got stopped in time.

I spoke with the highway patrol officer today and he said they figure Frank had 1 second to react to the lady coming right at him and 1 second to stop. In that 1 second time span, he left a 50 foot skid mark... that's pretty amazing that your motorcycle can travel 50 feet in 1 second!

I've found myself praying a lot while on the highway with other vehicles... especially around cars and trucks that change lanes a lot and the big 18 wheelers.. whew they can blow you off the road can't they?

Yes. they can. I am customizing my bike with lots of lights, including a "back-off" LED license plate frame. LED lights can make you more visible, and more visibility equals more safety. Our new rear view camera system that we are selling really helps with eliminating blind spots, and we are presenting it as a safety product. We have it on the Dragon and it is amazing just how much more you can see behind you.

I am so happy that you made it safely through that situation>:)
I would have been very upset if you had been hurt. I guess your Guardian Angel was watching out for you! I am hoping that mine will watch over me as attentively as yours did.

Well, let's stay safe and ride defensively!
