Yes it can be dangerous. That's why you've got to be very careful if you're going to try online dating.

All though I have 2 friends that met their other halves through an online dating service. One of them just got married on the 20th.

But again, you do have to be very careful. I myself wouldn't do it, but then again I already found my soul mate.

I agree with Boopie1969. You have to be very careful with anything that has to do with the internet. I wouldn't try online dating. But to those that are going to try it, just be careful!!!

well in a way it's kind of like the old west days when men sent letters to potential brides and many of the women accepted the offer to marry without evening meeting the man first!!

This is a topic that you will get many different responses from. Some agree it is dangerous but then again, meeting someone at a bar or club could be dangerous too.

You have to be careful when you set out to meet anyone from ANYWHERE...regardless if you are online or not.

My opinion, if you are smart and careful you could meet great people. Not everyone online is a predator or a maniac.

My husband and I met online about 9 years ago. We communicated on the computer with emails for several months, then telephone conversations. When we felt that we were ready to meet in person, we met in a public place with friends. I always told people where I was going, when I would be back, and all of that good info. when I did finally start going places by myself with him. We have been happily married for 8 years now with 2 beautiful children.

And no, I didn't set out to meet someone online and get married....it just happened that way...lol.

A waste of money in what way?

Well my older sister at the age of 24 met some guy on-line and chatted with him for 3 years, then took greyhound to "visit" him but stayed there a year and came back engaged and got married June 11th, 2006. He's a lovely guy as well.

My first boyfriend was actually on-line too. I was with him for 3 years and it didn't work out as I hoped.

On-line/Long Distance relationships can be dangerous on many levels, but using time wisely and also using precautions can help prevent from making fatal mistakes.

Good Luck to any one in an on-line relationship.

Hahahahah Someone... this post made me laugh... that'd be my luck... I'd get stuck with some old decrepit guy... broke and one step away from the grave... or I'd some some eeerie stalker... or someone out for identity theft!

LOL!! I guess that's not really funny.. is it?
