Leonard:

Attached are images of two Christmas ornaments--one Betty and one Koko. These were recently given to me by a friend, who found them at a garage sale.

I collect ornaments, and I know these aren't made by the usual suspects (Radko, Old World Christmas, Inge-Glas). Other than eliminating possible manufacturers, I can't identify these. The Betty ornament closely resembles a Kurt S Adler Betty ornament from a few years back, but it's not an Adler. And I've never seen the Koko ornament at all. Nor can I find anything about one online.

My guess is that these were made for a department store, perhaps Nordstrom or Macy's. Again, though, I can find no listings for either ornament in the usual places.

Have you ever seen these? If so, do you know anything about them? I'm familiar with ornaments in general, but not so much Betty Boop memorabilia.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike,
This is an ornament made for Bright Ideas Unlimited, a store in San Francisco that used to be called Betty's Store. And I don't remember if Kurt Adler did these on contract, but I am 99-percent sure.
The ornaments are pictured in their Winter 1998 catalog.
I just looked on their website and didn't see any ornaments at this time.

You're welcome, Mike.
Since you collect ornaments, if you would like a copy of the ornaments from Bright Ideas, let me know and I could copy the catalog pages for you, for your reference. Send me a direct email (boopman2@comcast.net)

Hi Leonard, I remember when those ornaments were produced by Bright Ideas. I sold them in my shop. They are retired now and hopefully will become valuable someday!! They're pretty coool!
