And how dare they list that hideous thing as a Betty Boop item! That is pure blasphemy!
That thing as nothing to do at all with our dear sweet lovely Betty Boop!

Betty Boop fans unite. Let eBay sellers know when you spot something they are selling that you know is NOT a Betty Boop item! It is illegal for eBay sellers to promote an item as a Betty Boop product when it isn't! You can notify eBay that the seller is misleading buyers with an inaccurate description! The sellers know it's not Betty Boop but are hoping to trap some unwitting buyer into believing that these products are genuine. Don't let them get away with it!

Right on!!, but i think on Ebay, they have the right to advertise however way they think suits there sale. It has nothing to do with being legal and illegal. So i guess all we can do is email the sellers and petend were some kind of FBI investigation team and threaten them with cancellation of their account along with a warrant for their arrest if they dont stop falsely advertising!!

I think that might work, until the real FBI catches on to what were doing!!

bexi3
07-24-2003, 07:40 AM
Yeah, Im pretty sure its more of an offense to act as an FBI agent than falsely identifying Betty Boop merchandise!! hehe xx

livingbooper
07-24-2003, 09:36 AM
Yep!
AND
I know that there are very specific rules and guidelines that sellers have to follow when advertising their products. I buy stuff all the time on Yahoo Auctions and EBAY. I was also the victim of someone who was trying to defraud me, but fortunately I got help from a Yahoo watchdog and got my money back.
If a seller is advertising something as Betty Boop, then it must be Betty Boop or they are misrepresenting the product and can be subject to a number of different penalties, including being forced out of EBAY, or in extreme cases, facing federal prosecution for fraud.
Betty Boop is a registered trademark of King Syndicated Features, I believe (or something like that). All official BB products must have that trademark or else they are counterfeit phonies. Counterfeit items are not allowed in the auctions unless they are advertised as imitations and not genuine.

So I do believe we have a leg to stand on.
But...then again... I do like the idea of contacting the sellers and writing to them about their blunders. Can you imagine how they'd feel if a bunch of us Boopers flooded them with emails???? I think that they'd change their ads FAST!!!!!

What do you say, Boopers?????

well all the bb products iv seen on ebay which are fake like the ones above all have a question mark in the title like : soft rag doll betty boop?
so technicaly we cant do anything about it coz ther acting like they are unsure them selves as to wetha or not the doll really is betty boop,
ther not stupid they know the doll is not a bb doll but they give the bidder hope that it might be
we know their plan is to trik buyers who bid in hope that the doll really is bb, hopefuly no 1 falls 4 it, coz any fan of bb will be able 2 spot a fake a mile off.
how sneaky and crafty these sellers are!!!
bess xx;)

I'm not buying that these eBay sellers are naive or dumb about their products .. I mean some of the items they like to call Betty Boop are so horrendous, there is no way they are even remotely close to being a Betty item!!! I think they do it just to lure Betty Boop buyers to their auction. But hopefully the buyers are smarter than that!! I guess it's Buyer Beware on eBay! I hate it when eBay sellers offer illegal items... or altered images of Betty Boop.. drives me crazy!

I know what you all are talking about when it comes to ebay. You all should see some of the stuff people pass off as being Marilyn Monroe. There are people on there who claim they are actually selling strands of Marilyn's hair and claim it's authentic. They try to sell peices of paper with her signature on it for thousands of dollars it's just rediculous. There was someone on ebay one day actually trying to sell part of Marilyn Monroe's fence from her home on 5 Helienna Drive in California claiming it actually was from Marilyns yard. So yea buyer beware on ebay.:D :D Now don't get me wrong there are some good sellers on there and honest sellers too.:D

Yes there are, but you need to be very careful too.
I always look at the feedback that others leave to try to get an idea of just who I am dealing with. I read many of the feedback posts, and also evaluate the negative ones. Some of the negative feedback may come from people who are bad ebayers themselves and don't pay. I try to look between the lines, and I try to analyze just what is beio\ng said in the ratings. If there is a lot of enthusiastic positive response, then I know I'm dealing with a good seller.
I had a problem with a scammer in Yahoo auctions so I have learned a lot about what to look for.....

I'm serious! You have to be careful. There are con artists that are making a living scamming people on these auctions and you have to take precautions to make sure that you are dealing with legitimate people. I also like to shop in Yahoo auctions.

When I go to Yahoo looking for things, I can't seem to find anything but eBay is much larger and has many more members, so I usually find what I'm looking for.. not always but usually. But I do like Yahoo's search engine and their email program is nice too.

I bought a bunch of nice jewelry on Yahoo auctions, and some tools too. The selection is a little different and I like to have a choice.
Oh, and the gorgeous 1.33ct diamond center stone for my engagement ring came from a vendor in Yahoo auctions. It was a great deal. I had it reappraised to make sure it was as presented and it was. There are tons of great jewelry values in Yahoo auctions.

So it is well worth checking out.

JennyBoop

Bikerbettyboop

Yes, I'll have to go check them out again too. I looked for some of the Italian charms and I have a feeling that some of the eBay vendors aren't selling the genuine article. So I didn't buy any. I want to make sure they are officially licensed before I buy them.
