James just called me and said that there is a virus going around on myspace and if you login to your myspace account there is a worm??? that shuts down your virus software and messes up your computer. Just thought I would share this with everyone.

wow I hope this isn't true.... I'd think that the My Space technical staff would have anti-virus software to protect their website.

These days, ant-virus works quite well...... A couple of years ago I got a virus 2 weeks before McAfee or Norton knew it existed! And the E-mail had been checked by McAfee.

Thanks for the warning Mrs.B.
I think that MySpace itself probably isn't to blame. They are owned by a big corporation and I think that their server would have state-of-the-art anti-virus software.
That being said, worms are spread via email lists. If a member has a worm and they email to you and you open it that individual could pass the worm to you. How worms work is they infect the victims' computers via their address books. The people who are in that address book start generating spam to others. So if your computer starts generating spam it is not you who have the worm it's someone who has you in their address book. The good news is that worms have a finite lifespan and terminate after a set period of time. In the meantime thet are a big nuisance.
I think both Theresa and myself have been in someone's address book who had a worm because we were each plagued by tons of mail failure notifications.

Maybe you can go fishing (not phishing) and use the worms as bait.

I think myspace is ok. James said the boys at college were talking about it and different ones were gettingproblems with myspace. I have been on myspace today and I have'nt had any problems.
