August 2010 Community Festival to Be Held in Wisconsin Hometown of
Grim Natwick, Top Animator of Legendary Cartoon Character Betty Boop
June 30, 2010 -- Denise Hagopian, , Betty Boop collectibles expert, owner of the Heavenly Choice retail gift store and longtime organizer of the annual Betty Boop Festival in Montebello, Calif., will be a featured speaker and exhibitor at the Arts & Collectibles Show during the Official Betty Boop Wisconsin Festival. Taking place August 5-8 and hosted by Betty Boop Festival Wisconsin, Fleischer Studios, and King Features Syndicate, the Festival marks the anniversary of Betty Boop’s animation debut on Aug. 9, 1930 and honors Grim Natwick, Wisconsin Rapids’ native son and Betty’s original top animator at Fleischer Studios, for his lifelong achievements.
The Festival organizers have set the following schedule for Hagopian:
Thursday, August 5 9:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Betty Collectors Meet & Greet with Denise
Sunday, August 8 8:30 - 10:00 am

Informal Betty Breakfast & Roundtable with Denise
Hagopian will be doing informal appraising of Betty vintage 1930's - 1970's collectibles
plus 45-minute lectures on:

Betty Boop Festival Wisconsin is a not for profit community group, and proceeds from the Festival will be used to support an annual Betty Boop Festival in Wisconsin Rapids and erect a permanent state historical marker in honor of Grim Natwick. Organizers include Arts & Heritage Cluster, a group dedicated to “engaging, uniting and illuminating their local arts and heritage for a vibrant community,” and South Wood County Historical Museum. The Arts & Heritage Cluster is part of an effort to revitalize greater South Wood County by focusing on the area’s assets and strengths.
