I'm interested in tracking down my family tree and other than asking the oldest member in my family some questions, does anybody know how to go about this? Has anyone does this themselves?

I have researched my family tree back 11 generations on both my mother and my father's side. I started with my mom and dad and grandparents and also used http://www.ancestry.com/
I suggest that you start with immediate family members and go from there. Perhaps someone in your family has already done most of the work?

Ive been trying to track my family tree. My grandad started it before he died and I still have all his notes. I subscribed to ancestry and got hold of census information etc. It's very usefull but I think if you're really serious about looking into your ancestry, you have to be prepared to spend a bit of money in the process.
