My cd collection counts about 200 cds and singles, and if I should name every cd I have... I don't think I can... I collect cds from so many artists... But I think you can call me a 'pop' girl... You can find lots of old boy/girlbands in my collection, as well as Phil Collins. The last cds I got are by Will Young, an english singer, and :o boyzone-ballads:o Still have a weakness for them after all these years...:o

That's the best part of this forum.Keeping Betty going strong! My musical tastes are a little further back than most of you. I'm a big fan of the big bands, particularly Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Spike Jones. But I also like classic rock and my favorite contemporary artist is Leon Redbone.

Hi There:
I am a huge Rock and Roll fan.
My first exposure to Rock and Roll came when I was in the second grade. ( I suppose I am dating myself. ) I was watching the Wonderful World of Disney, ( A mini-series called the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh ) when my parents commandeered the TV and switched the channel to Ed Sullivan. Four Lads from England were performing that night. They called themselves the Beatles. I did not know at that time that that was history in the making.
I later became a big fan of several other English groups ( The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, check out there "new" material that has been sitting in the vaults for twenty years. I am also a big Black Sabbath fan, I was a fan of Ozzy twenty five years before the Osbournes debuted on MTV. )
I discovered that we had some great Rock And Roll here in the USA as well. Right in my own backyard ( Boston Mass ) there is a great band called Aerosmith ( via Sunapee NH ) , other bands hail from San Francisco (The Greatful Dead) , Freehold NJ ( Bruce Springsteen ), Gainsville Fla ( Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ). I could go on and on and on but this is a Betty Boop site not a Rock and Roll site.
More recently I have been listening to "Alt-Country" Joe Ely, Steve Earle and the Dukes and Lucinda Williams. They all have spent time in Austin Texas.
I also check out several bands here in Boston but you may not have heard of too many of them.

Hi again;
How did I forget the bands from the Emerald Isle.
Thin Lizzy and U2 are both great as many of you know.
You may not have heard of the late Rory Gallagher. He was a great rock and roll/blues guitarist, if you are not familiar with his work you must check him out.

I'm hugely into Motown music - I absolutely love Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, all the favorites. I have to say, the music in the charts at the moment is a load of rubbish! The oldies are all the best - Im only 20, but I have to agree with my parents when they say 'they don't make em like they used to!'

How is the music in the charts rubbish at the moment. I personally love whats out at the moment. And the sudden emergence of Hip/Hop as a dmominant player in the UK chart scene, that is really fun to watch play out. You see if this was a couple of years ago you have to question if Hip/Hop woulda made it in the UK.
I'm really into N.E.R.D, i love them and there outlandish beats. But i'm more a fan of neptunes and there colaborations with the biggest artists in the music industry.
I also love all of Red Hot Chilli Peppers stuff right now!, Genious!
Oh and Linkin Park...and the ocasional Justin Timberlake tunes when i lay back. And i won't forget all those hip hop and R'n'B tunes. Anyhow i've said to much LOL!!,
Oh and did anyone from the UK go to the party in the park or see it on channel 5, if so what was your fav performance there?

My husband and I both play guitar and we sing and play a lot. We have a whole room in our house dedicated to music... we have drums and guitars and amps set up. It's pretty cool.....
My husband can sing and play real well and had his own band for many years.
Music is good for the heart and soul!!!
You know Betty Boop sings too!
