aww common joeobsessed this is a great site every one gets on really well, it would be a shame if you decided to not be a part of the bbf family just because of a lil thing like this....

my advice is to think it over before making a rash decision because you might regret it, im sure if you just mingle and forget about the whole moderator buzniz ul find that this forum is not "dry" and ul actually enjoy being a member!

if you feel strongly enough and decide to not post any more we respect your feelings, just remember we will happily welcome you back any time in the future if you ever change your mind, so dont b ambaressed to come bak if u miss us!!!

I don't think BikerBetty meant it like that. My mum met my dad when she was fourteen and they got married, so age shouldn't come into it. They're divorced now - but thats not the point!! hehehe!
I think that what BikerBetty is saying is that there will be plenty of boys that will be obsessed over! I know I had plenty to dream about! :o

Bikerbettyboop
07-11-2003, 01:18 PM
Hey Boopsie-Cola... I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or insinuate that because you are young you run from boy to boy... far from it. I respect you for caring so much for Joe for the past few years. That's great and I hope you two will be happy and together for all your life because that would be wonderful. And like I said, it wasn't my intention to hurt your feelings at all. So I'm sorry if I did hurt your feelings.

I guess I was just thinking back to when I was your age and the many boys that I had crushes on too. And how each one felt like he would be the love of my life for all my life.

And thanks Bexi3 for helping to clarify what I was trying to say... guess I wasn't very good at conveying that message... sorry about that....

Not that I particularly wish to carry on this very confusing thread, but the girl who is obsessed with Joe isn't called Joe aswell!

Anyway, noticed that you're from California livingbooper. I might be going on holiday there next summer - which part should I go to? I'd really lke to go to Hollywood but I have no idea where that is in relation to anywhere else like LA. Been trying to some kind of guide on the internet but Im getting more confused than you about the whole Joe thing! Any suggestions?

Hi Boopsie-Cola!

I know that the girl obsessed with Joe isn't really named Joe, but her SCREEN NAME is Joe Obsessed, isn't it? So I thought I'd take it further and make an eensy-weensy-boopsie joke.... I'm afraid I can have a little little goofy sense of humor.....

AS far as California goes...wow! What a loaded question! You have no idea! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, was born and raised here. The one thing I am noticing is that everyone in the world likes to come here, and sometimes they visit and end up staying.... There is SO MUCH to see and visit, where do I begin? I may be biased, but I think that California is one of the most beautiful and interesting states in the U.S. The cool thing about this state is that it has so many different types of terrain, many different types of communities, many different styles.

You have beaches, seaports, rugged rocky cliffs. You have two different mountain ranges to choose from. You have many historic places. You have a few big cities and the country isn't far away so you can drive into farmland, ranchland, forest. Of course California is famous for its redwood groves. And then there are the parks, Yosemite is world famous. You have the world famous Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Mountains where a person can snow ski or water ski, jet ski, parasail, horseback ride by day and gamble in the casinos at night. You have beautiful San Diego in the south with gorgeous beaches, a famous zoo, and close by a wildlife park where you can see many of the the animals running around loose... And of course there is the lovely San Francisco where my heart is, many say it's the prettiest city in the U.S. ....And of course there is L.A. with Disneyland nearby...
I am a Northern Californian, so I must admit I am partial to the places in the north. I love the wild beaches, cliffs, mountains, and THE REDWOODS.

And there is a difference in lifestyle and attitude between Northern Ca and Southern Ca. Southern Californians have a faster pace and lifestyle like they're driven. We northerners are more laid back...

I've been to L.A. a few times, have yet to see a movie star. It's big, sprawling, noisy, congested and dirty. There are historic landmarks from the film industry, and if you go there you HAVE to go to Disneyland. But L.A. is not my cup of tea, would not be my first choice as a vacation spot.

So Boopsie-Cola, we may need to talk more about this. Tell me, what do you want to DO? Do you want to run around doing lots of stuff, or do you want to kick back and relax, enjoy the scenery.

There is a lot to see and do in San Francisco. If you choose to go there, maybe we could get together and visit! :D I could be your tour guide for a day... Just a thought, and I'd be happy to do it. I could take you to a couple of shops with lots of BB stuff! ;)

Well, gotta go now.
Take care!
Talk to you soon!!!!

Oh, I just re-read you last post, and just to let you know, Los Angeles is made up of itself and several other cities/townships which combined are still referred to as "L.A.". It's such a sprawl that they all blend together anyway to make one huge city. Hollywood is one of those. So you can consider it "L.A.".

Hehe" Seems you got a little carried away livingbooper! It all sounds lovely but I think LA would be more my type of place. Don't get me wrong, when I go on holiday I like to relax but America is so big, and so full of things to see and places to go, I don't think I could justify spending the time sitting back and relaxing! I went to Florida last year and did the Disney thing, so I wouldn't want to do that again just yet. I really want to do the whole Sunset Boulevard thing! Its probably an anti climax, but it sounds like fun. See you don't get the same showbiz vibe in Birmingham UK which is where I'm from, as you do in America! I think I'd want to do lots of things and take it all in. If you get anymore ideas, please let me know. My e-mail is bexi3@hotmail.com - don't know if I'm allowed to give my e-mail out but I just did so there! heheehehe. Thanks for the advise - very enthusiastic advise at that!

Well it seems like I got carried away, but California is truly a very interesting place if I do say so myself.

Well, I have to have my coffee in the morning, and after a couple of cups, I really get goin'!!!!

Hollywood Blvd. is a good place to check out. As far as I've seen, the Sunset strip really has nothing, just a bit of history. Hey we have a little history in San Francisco....have you heard of Haight-Ashbury?

Do you like the beach?

The L.A. area has lots of fine ones. Check out Newport Beach and Malibu. These are the beaches famous for the surfer boys.

I don't know, but if I were a young woman now I would go to where the cute guys were.....;)

I've made a note of your email addy, and if I think of anything, I'll email you.

Again, I'm a northerner, so I'm more familiar with stuff closer to where I live.

If you're over 21, San Francisco has some killer nightclubs...

Take care! :D

You will have a great time wherever you go!!!!!!!!:D

It's hot here in August, so bring your swimsuit and go to the beach (during the day). Check out the tanned hunks. Then hit the nightclubs at night!

You will have a blast!:D

Don't be silly - you're not old!! You sound young and perky to me and thats all that counts! Hey, Betty Boop's pretty old now and she's still sexy! hehehe.

Im really coming round the the L.A idea. Sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait. Now all I have to do is get my dad to agree to it. My step-mum and I keep on at him so in the end I think the girls will win!

Actually, I am very lucky in that I look about 10 years younger than my age. Hope I stay as well preserved as Ms. BB!

I have another idea for you for a day of fun in L.A. I can't believe I forgot about this. I stopped in L.A. on the way down to San Diego during one vacation.

You HAVE to go to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS for a day! And you've got to get there early because the day goes by so fast and you don't want to miss anything. All of the rides are based on movie themes. And they have a studio tour with a few surprises.... The shops are wonderful and I do remember seeing lots of BB goodies there. I'm also a fan of I Love Lucy, and they have stuff about her, as well as the three stooges. They have little street shows all over the place all day like Lucy dancing in the streets and doing skits. And you MUST go on the Jurrassic Park ride! I want to go again!

Oh dear...did I have too much coffee again????

I didn't have a digital camera back then, but I took lots of photos. If you think you might want to go there, let me know and I'll scan a couple.

O.k.

Coffee is taking over!
Bye!:)

You're funny!

I went to Universal Studios when I was in Florida so I would think it's kinda the same. There was an I Love Lucy shop there which had wall to wall BB stuff. I couldn't believe it! I was nearly sick! Of course I couldn't afford any of it, so not to leave there without buying anything, I bought a mug, which is sitting in front of me right now at work!

By the way, I think you should stop drinking coffee - or at least start drinking decaff! Hehehe!

Well, the one in Florida must be a copy. Remember, the Universal Studios in L.A. are actually right next to real movie soundstages! This is the authentic place. Really.

You said you wanted to experience the real Hollywood movie experience, right??????

At this one you can go on a tour of movie sets where they actually shot movies at. You will see the actual house they used in Psycho, for instance... :D

I think that the one in Florida must be only an amusement park....

Take care

Hi Lizzy, I used to buy things from a shop in San Francisco called The Betty Boop Store they had great things, When my friend went to San Francisco I told her to go there & take a picture & she did it was great. They closed the store now but I know that the girl that was working there told me that there alot of places in San Francisco that sell Betty. My cousins live in San Diego & my friend lives in LA. California is beautiful but so is New York there are so many things to do here & on 42nd st. they have a huge selection of Betty Boop Products you can go broke because you want to buy everything. My parents were originally from New York, so I kind of have roots there, though I've never been there myself yet. I'm very excited to go, very much looking foreward to it.
Now you've really peaked my curiosity about the BB shops there!
Could you please write back and tell me where they are?

Hey Bexi3, I'm with you.
You and I had a good conversation, and the Joe-is-a-girl ran its course....
And I thought we were kind of interesting if I do say so myself?
The boards are all about communication.
How boring it would be if we were forced to talk about the same thing over and over and over....
Besides, all any reader would have to do is go through the older posts to pick up the original thread. I had no problem doing so.
Look, even now the thread is changing. It's just natural...

My suggestion would be if a topic has run its course and people start talking about things that interest them other than the original topic, the moderaters could pop in and create a new thread and direct the talkers to the new topic.;)

Sooooooooo...Becky are you with me? I am a pro-active woman...I'll take the initiative to move this thread! I don't know if we're done with ours or not, but I'll make a new thread about BB vacations! Whatya think? So, anyone responding to our old thread, go to BB Vacations. O.k.? Maybe we'll hear more good ideas from other Boopers!

Hi Becky! Hi Gina!

Hey, let's be rebels! We'll spice up the place!
Hehehehe.....

I DID start a new thread...
A young lady I hadn't seen here before is going on vacation to some exotic place I'd never even heard of.

It's about vacations...
But if you girls are tired of that subject, I guess we can all stay here and be rebels!

I am leaving town tomorrow morning and I won't be back until Monday night. I'm going to Long Beach (L.A. area) to enter my show bike (not my Boopmobile) in the biggest motorcycle show of the year. There is a lot of prize money and I hope we win!

Hold a good positive thought for me, will you? The judging is on Sunday afternoon. This event should be fun, but I am dreading the 8 hour drive, and we'll be towing a trailer so it will be slow. And it's hotter than a firecracker here in California these days.

Anyway I won't be on the net for a few days, and I'm looking foreward to catching up to your posts when I get back,

Of course, when in L.A. ya gotta check out the shops and I know I'm gonna find some cool BB stuff.... I'll fill you in when I get back.

Hey ya can't tame us, but who would want to? I think that the discussions are becoming more lively, don't you.

To BBooper...I don't know what I was thinking.... Of course I know who you are! I went back to the new topic and saw that you were the author going to Corfu. Duh! I must have been so distracted with where in the world is Corfu....

TO ALL-
Well we leave in a couple of hours for L.A.
Please wish us positive thoughts so we can win! A lot of positive energy can do amazing things! There are going to be hundreds of motorcycles there, it is such a main event. We just need to stand out from the crowd.

Well, now I power down for the last time until Monday.
All you Boopers...be good til I get back!!! LOL:D

Bye all!

Boop-Boop-a-Doop!

Hey everybody!
Well, we made it back in one piece!
Thank you all so much for all the good wishes and good energy.
It is so good to be home, and I hope you guys will understand, but I really hate L.A. Many of us Californians refer to it as La-La Land. And not without reason....bunch o' flakes. It was about a 9 hour+ drive in each direction. And the SMOG! Ugh! The show was very unorganized, everyone complained. No one saw any judges, so we figured that the winners were picked in advance anyway....
No, we didn't win, but as soon as we went in to register we realized that we did not belong in this show. It was promoted wrong and the catagories were not as advertised. We had called to make sure about the requirements and were told that it was an open show to all types, but when we went to fill out the paperwork, the catagories specified V-TWIN Harlies, which of course my 6 cylinder Honda Valkyrie was not. We were stuck in with a bunch of choppers (which ours was not) instead of either post 1958 classics which we kind of fit, or the high performance bikes of 1400ccs or more. So we didn't stand a chance....
But we made the best of it and made some friends, learned a few tricks. Only found one BB goodie at the show, a handbag made of wood (a box with a handle on it) with pics of BB on the side. I didn't buy it....
But....
And this is where the GOOD LUCK you guys all sent me came in... we had an unbelievable turn of good fortune and made an incredibly valuable business contact. We met a young man who has developed a brand new technology for motorcycles and has only been marketing it for about 6 months. It's cutting edge and he is looking for distributors. My fiance is a mechanic who is starting a business customizing motorcycles. Actually I am involved too, but behind the scenes. The product is a video screen with a small camera mounted on a motorcycle which acts like a rear view mirror. It's an incredible product!!! We are so excited! The company is based out of Seattle Washington and he has no one to distibute it in California (Motorcycle Mecca) and we will be the first ones! An excellent ground floor opportunity!!!

Can you tell I'm excited?????

So we didn't win the show, but we are much bigger winners than that in the long run. If we hadn't gone to the show, we never would have hooked up with this new company.
And I know that this young man is going to turn into a millionaire. And we'll be financially secure as well....

SO THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for bringing us GOOD LUCK!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I am so tired now, but I am SO PUMPED!

Oh, and on the way back we stopped at a restaurant/gift shop that had a couple of BB items. They were expensive, so I didn't buy them. They were small clocks. One was BB in her classic red dress , clock in a pink heart. The other was a very sexy biker BB in black top and shorts, sitting on her motorcycle. I almost bought it, but after all the money I'd spent at the show, I couldn't bring myself to spend $48 for a little clock I didn't need... But I know where I can find it now.... There was also a mug, but I have so many mugs I couldn't justify that purchase either..... Well that's it on my BB sightings!

Well, again thanks. And I'll talk to you soon!

Boop-Boop-a-Doop!:)

Hey mchan, thanks for posting the pics of The Dragon. I am very proud of her. (Per Viking legend a Valkyrie is a warrior maiden sent out by Odin to collect the souls of only the bravest, most deserving warriors and heroes who have died in battle and to bring them to Valhalla, which is Viking heaven. The Valkyries determined the winners and losers in a battle. So you see, my Valkyrie must be a she....) And of course, mchan, you saw an example of a Valkyrie maiden on the fender shot...

Hey Deadpool! I'm happy that you like my beautiful Dragon! She IS awesome, isn't she! She is very unique, has lots of other custom features like etching on her windshield, neon lights which illuminate her engine at night, and lots of chrome and high performance extras and add-ons. Are you a big, strong guy? You have to be to ride this beast. I can only ride as passenger, I'm physically unable to hold her up. She weighs about 1100 lbs. Also, you have to make a lot of money because it was very expensive to customize her. But hey, you've got lots of time! Aquiring a beautiful steed like this can be very motivational....
There are lots of gorgeous V-TWINS out there! I know! I saw a bunch of them yesterday! Took lots of pictures too!!! They're not nearly as big and heavy as my beast!

Hi Gina! Thank you so much for the good wishes! I know that they must've helped with our good fortune yesterday! (see above post.) I hope to talk to you soon! We'll have to chat about New York.... That's coming up in September....

I took lots of great pics at the show. There were some really gorgeous bikes, and some truly bizarre ones.
If anyone would like me to send them a few pics to look at, let me know. I'd love to share! Geez, I wish I'd taken pics of the BB stuff I'd found! That would have been fun to send. Geez! Well, I guess next time????

Well, g'night all! Talk to you soon!

Hey Livingbooper... I love your motorcycle... it's beautiful!! Does your boyfriend ride it or do you just trailer it and display it at bike shows?

I heard the same complaints about the LA Bike Show.... and your complaints sound similar to other complaints I've heard about bike shows... seems like they are marketed wrong and like you said you never see or know who the judges are and makes you wonder about that old saying "it's who you know" that makes some bikes the winners and others aren't.

The motorcycle is really awesome!! Since I'm such an enthusiast I've seen lots of motorcycles through the years and it's always amazing the things that people do to customize them!!!

My husband rides a Harley dresser and of course I have the Harley Sportster. Neither are as fancy as your show bike!!! But we like them and are having fun riding.

Have fun when you visit New York....

and poor Michael will never be able to police all us rowdy rebels.. ha ha!!! But I know he has fun trying to when he can find the time.

I can't believe a small clock was $48.00. Boy some of these stores sell their Betty Boop merchandise for a lot don't they? I guess it depends on the location.

Take care and ride safe and be safe everyone!!

Hey, thanks for the compliment!

Your bikes sound great. Bet it's real fun to ride with your hubby! My fiance has a customized 1100 Shadow that is his regular ride, and my ride is a 750 Shadow, so we kind of match. His is black and cream, mine is burgundy and cream. I have lots of work to do to mine to customize it and make it my own. Don does window etching and has etched Betty Boop on my windshield, surrounded by rose vines. It turned out awesome. Maybe I should send in a picture of it?????

Sometimes we go out on The Dragon together. Of course, at 1100 lbs. I can't hold it up myself, but he manages to.... Our bike is a real running motorcycle. Many of the ones at the shows are pretty, but are never ever ridden. They have NEVER been turned on at all! Can you believe it? As far as I'm concerned, they are fake motorcycles. Just sculptures. L.A. people are into them. But there are many real shows where the judges run their fingers under the fenders to check for road dirt, to make sure the bike's been ridden. Many judges eliminate bikes that haven't seen the pavement, and I feel that this is the right thing to do. What's the use of having a motorcycle if you never ride it? Especially an expensive one? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, lots of BB goodies are too overpriced... But I guess thay've got us nailed, haven't they???

One cool thing I forgot to mention in my last post was that we got a little note from our neighbor who watched our pets during our absense. She must have noticed our collection of dragons and my collection of BB stuff in my curios, because she left me a business card of a shop she discovered that has dragon and BB stuff.... OOOOOO a new BB shop to explore!!!! I'll let you know what I discover! I hope it's got good stuff!!!

Well, talk to you soon!

It's fun to ride with anyone... and even by myself... though I hate riding in the rain!

I know what you mean about the "show bikes".... and those folks who trailer them everywhere and just enter them in contests... they aren't into it for motorcycling... they just want a trophy bike!

Like I said.. if you ever make it over this way give us a shout and we'll meet you somewhere or ride together.

We're going on a ride to the Grand Canyon 9/7/03 with about 100 other HOG members... should be fun!

That sounds like a gas! The Grand Canyon??? How Awesome!
I'd like to do that one some time.
Today we went on a ride with 2 other Freedon Cruisers around some of the prettier back country here. We had lunch at a rustic little bar and grill in Bethel Island, which is in the delta here. When we were leaving we ran into a salty old guy who looked like a sea captain, so we kept calling him "Captain". We took a couple of pictures with him, then back on the road we went. It was very fun!

What part of Arizona are you in? There is a brand new chapter in the Freedom Cruisers which is in northern Arizona, I believe.
If you want to check out this club, you can check out their website at freedomcruisers.com .
They have a forum, and I am Drgonlady99 there.

I checked out your BikerBetty site. You've got some nice stuff. I think I'll be placing an order soon. Can't resist BB stuff, you know...

Well have fun riding!

We are about 25 miles outside Prescott.. in a rural area... horse ranches.. Chino Valley...

Yesterday we went to the dealership for the Harley celebration. Lots of nice bikes there but it rained and hailed.. no fun!

It HAILED??? Wow! In August! You guys have weird weather there.
Well. we are moving our vacation from New York to Prescott AZ in September because of the business. We'll have to go on a ride, or at least do dinner!!!

Take care. I'll talk to you soon.

Yes it hailed on us.. it was even on the local news... my mom saw it on tv.

On the way home, we also encountered snow! Yep, it was a strange day weather wise... and we didn't have jackets or chaps or anything... just long sleeve denim shirts! (Cause it was supposed to be in the 90's!)

Live and learn.. from now on, I'm going prepared! Ha ha!

I'll bet we're not the only ones who've been fooled by mother nature!!!

Yes, mother nature is sure throwing us a few curves!

Today we had thunder and lightening and it was pouring down rain for a while. Very strange weather for us at this time of the year. This just isn't like California in August! It reminded me of downpours in Hawaii, still warm, a bit humid, and very very wet.

It makes me wonder just what mother nature is trying to tell us....

Talk to you soon!

I know. Wouldn't that put a DAMPER on things. That idea is ALL WET! :P
Sorry, I couldn't resist! I'm in a punny mood today....

I sure hope it doesn't rain at the show in Prescott! That's only a few weeks away now.... I get MISTY just thinking about it! Opps! Sorry! There I go again....:P
