Hey Fellow Boopers,
Its been a long long long time since I was last on line. Some may remeber me as "Bettyrockz"??????
Well life has been full of adventure and wonderful changes. Last you may have heard I'd seperated from my partner of nearly 4 years. Well now I'm with the most wonderful guy in the world and we have a beautiful two week old daughter (pic attached).
I hope you are all well and life is wonderful for you all. I've noticed that Neckless & BikerBetty that you are both still online. Thats wonderful to see. I hope to be online more often now that i am going to be an "at home Mum". Our plan is for me to have at least 1 year full time off work to spend with our Daughter Caitlyn Amber. So in that time i hope to get all the goss from you all and keep you all informed with my new life as a mother.
Well i wont take up too much time with this but will take a browse around and no doubt add my 2c worth on some of the other threads.
I wish you all well & much happiness.
Love Melissa :D

Hi Mel,
I was just thinking about you the other day (we sent an order to Australia) and I wondered what had happened to you.
Congratulations on your new baby girl. She has a beautiful name!!
I didn't see a photo though... so please attach another one here for all of us to see.
Boston and Bexi both have just recently rejoined us. LivingBooper is also here as are a number of fairly new members who are very active here on the forum. You're going to have fun getting to know Lowell and Richard and Moocher (as well as a few other male members) and BBooper is still a moderator. Boop480 and BBoop1969 visit often too!
It's great sharing our lives here on the forum and I want to welcome you back with open arms.
It's good to have an old friend joining us again!!!
Congrats on baby Caitlin Amber!!

hey there, many thanks for your best wishes BBB. its good to be back and i do look forward to getting to know new members & catching up with old friends.
Sorry about that i thought i had attached a picture of my little BabyBoop. I've only just worked out that the file was too big for forum limits. I've found another and have attached that. Hope you can view it alright.
You may be a bit confused by how big she is. Let me assure you though that the pic i've attached was taken the day we came home from hospital and Caitlyn was 4 days old. here are a few details that may make you gasp....
Caitlyn Amber Stroud born Thursday 10th August 2006 at 5:05pm. Weight: 11lb 12.5oz or 5340gms. Length: 63cm. Head Circumferance: 40cm. A very healthy girl, dont worry though, after 2 failed induction attempts she was delivered by Ceaserean.
Am happy to be back and I'm going to view vsome other threads now.

Hi Melissa! your doughter is the sweetest new born baby i have ever seen. She's looking so healty this is wonderful. She's just soooooo cute , i touched wood after seeing her photo :)
This blue bead is for her (worn to avert the evil eye)

awe that's so sweet. Many thanks for your kind words. the pin is lovely, is it a typical gift given to new borns in your country or mainly just the blue bead? what a beautiful sentiment for which i thank you.
May i ask the significance of you touching wood after you saw her photo? in Australia we "touch wood" after saying something in reference to something that hasn't happened and we dont want it to....ie "I've never had a broken bone...touch wood"
thanks again Heliconia.

you'r welcome :) generally the gift is a piece of gold for new borns :) it's size changes according to closeness of you and the babies family and we pin the gold with a blue bead to protect baby from any negative energy because all relatives visits baby and sometimes their gaze will give negative energy to baby despite they look tender. may be its just a belief i don't know :)
We use touching wood like yours but there is an additional usage here :) we use a word "Maşallah" it means "God may preserve her from evil" then we touch wood :)

Hey, We had a great weekend. Best friends Wedding on Saturday and then my partners first fathers day yesterday. It was awesome. Caitlyn is doing very well and we are slowly getting to know each other. I'm loving motherhood, although it is a large adjustment i wouldn't have it any other way.
With regard to me being huge when i was pregnant, well i think that may be an understatement :) teehee. I've attached a pic of my belly at 40wks. So you can see for yourself how much i was carrying. the best part was that i was ALL belly, I didn't put weight on anywhere else. I'm 172cm tall (approx 5"8), and just one week before having Caitlyn i weighed 94.5kg. Thank goodness I've lost over 15kg in the past few weeks and am slowly starting to look more like my previous self.;)
Oh my how i rave on when i get started. teehee:D hope i haven't bored you too much.

Hi there,
Oh my what a week i've had. We've had a little bit of "wind" trouble with Caitlyn & hence she hasn't been sleeping and of course nor have I. We seem to have it sorted out now, the stress levels have definately lowered :-). Motherhood is definately a challenge but i'm enjoying it. She is gorgeous and growing every day. I've not had her weighed in a fortnight, and then she was 13lb13oz so am very curious to see what she is now. I will find out on Thursday.
Life is good here and i expect it is only going to get better. Am going to start going to play groups (mothers/play groups) next week, as i am now allowed to drive again. I will also start taking Caitlyn to swimming lessons as Summer is nearly apon us here. I am looking forward to these things, to get us both out of the house and interaction with other new mums.
Hope you are all well.

things are good here. no real damage only lost power for a short time. the rain was good & we even got some in the catchment areas which is great since we are in a drought and our dams (that service the city supplies) are below 30%.
Caitlyn is great and growing strong. Didnt get her weighed though as the local centre was closed. i'll do it this week though.

Caitlyn is doing well and now weighs 7kgs & is 63.5cm long. She is above average for her 8weeks but is in proportion. The nurse said she is doing very well and gave me a list of helpful ideas to assist with her reflux.

OH my i've just gone through something nobody warned me of, the heartache of your babies first immunisation..... oh my i think i cried more when she got her needles yesterday. today she is not too well and this evening has done not much or than scream her little lungs out :-( its so sad and we feel soooooo useless, its horrible. Michael is bathing her right now and she seems to have calmed down. I'm sure we'll be right though.
Thanks again everyone for your kind words.

I know its for the best. She is much better today. She even slept through the night from 9:30pm til 5:30 this morning. We are thinking it may nearly be time to put her in her big cot which is in her nursery as she has just about grown out of her cradle that is in our room. Gee whiz they really go through alot in the first part of their lives dont they?

my fav pic is the 3rd one where she's in the pram and she's holding on. You can see her hand on the right hand side, the little white bit at the end of the grey.
She has started sleeping through the night now. The past couple of mornings she's not woken up until about 7:30am after going to bed at 10pm. I even had to wake her this morning to get to swimming classes :)

Oh my goodness isn't motherhood the biggest challenge i have ever undertaken.
Caitlyn is growing so fast and i see the changes everyday. She is trying to roll over and i dont think she is far off sitting up by herself either. We chat and laugh all the time. Some days are tough especially when is feeding ALL day long. I am going to chat to our Health Care nurse on Thurs and ask about introducing foods etc as i dont think she is getting enough from me.
She was very sick the other weekend, we even spent four nights in hospital. That was the scariest thing ever. She had Rowter Virus, we were told it is very common but serious in babies. its a type of gastro bug and to top it all off as she was getting better i got it. I felt so bad for her as it was the worst i have felt in a long time so i didn't envy what she must have been feeling. Everyone is well now though.
We are still going swimming and she has even had her head under water. We go to a play group once a week also, but are looking at doing more so we dont get too house bound and mummy goes a little insane. :)
I will get new pictures online asap.
I know i'm biased but i think she is the most beautiful little girl ever. I am even going to keep my eye open for some baby shows in the area to enter in.
