While I haven't found her on a motorcycle in any of the cartoons I've seen, Biker Betty has ridden into the hearts of many and has taken on a persona all her own.
Does anyone know of Betty Boop riding a motorcycle in any of her early cartoons?

Not that I know of. She drove an auto in (for example) Stop that Noise, Betty Boop's Kerchoo, and Musical Mountaineers. In A Language All My Own she flew a plane.
The only possibility is Hide and Seek, where she may have rode pillion. However I haven't seen that cartoon, and in any case there is some debate as to whether the "pretty lady" in Hide and Seek and The Robot really was Betty Boop.
The short answer is no. A pity.

I haven't seen any images of her on a motorcycle either.

In the 1930s it was considered shocking if a woman drove her own car, never mind a racing car or a plane. A motor bike would have been totally over the top even for Betty Boop.
Betty (Dangerous Nan McGrew) and Bimbo escaped in a locomotive in The Bum Bandit. It's not clear who (if anyone) was driving.

I'm not sure when the first woman rode a motorcycle... seems to me I read it somewhere long ago but I have forgotten the year. Harley-Davidson turned 100 in 2003, so I thought it was somewhere in the 1930's or 1940's?
Times have certainly changed haven't they?

In 1876 Sylvester Howard Roper invented the world's first motorcycle. It was coal powered and steam driven.
In 1885 Gottlieb Daimler built the world's first gas powered motorcycle.
If either of these gentlemen had wives or close lady friends, I'm sure these ladies tried the new contraptions out - in private of course.
I don't know who was the first woman to be photographed by a magazine riding a motor cycle, or to appear in a film on one. I do know this would be most unusual in the 1930s. Even in the 1960s the concept of a woman biker was unusual enough for a film to be built round it. I forget the name of the star. She was a singer, she had a title (Lady something or other) and she was one of **** Jagger's girlfriends.

It seems the name M*ck (short for Michael) is a banned word!
Anyway, I'm sure you all know who I mean.

Hey Mooch... thanks for the information. I used to have some magazines with articles about women motorcycle riders and who was the first one etc... but I'm sure it's buried under piles of debris on my desk!! LOL!! I really shouldn't laugh... it's serious!!

I remember now. Marrianne Faithful was the star.

I googled it and can't find anything except for the above information... so I wonder if it's really valid?

Betty Boop's Hollywood Mystery.
It was meant to revive Betty's career after her success in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It was meant to be released in 1999.
The whole dreadful story is told in the History of Betty Boop thread. In the unlikely event that you have the opportunity to purchase this horrible mish-mash on videotape - don't.
