NOOOOOOO! I only have access to the internet when I'm at work which is between 8.30am and 5.30pm, but what with time differences and all that, it would be very difficult to get everyone here at the same time. Not that Im giving up of course!!!!

livingbooper

Hey, I just discovered this thread.
First we need to figure out the time differences for everyone. Then we can plot a timetable, then agree on a time.
I'm in California, and I'm on Pacific daylight time right now. I know that New York is 3 hours ahead, so if it's 8:00 PM here, it's 11:00 PM in New York. What is the difference for Arizona? And what is the difference between New York and the UK? And France? And Sweden?

Keep working on it Boopers, and we will figure it out!

When you go to user cp and click edit options, you'll see time offset. There you can see the time differences. Hope that's usefull...

livingbooper
09-14-2003, 12:14 PM
This is very helpful. There is an 8 hour difference between California and Britain ( and other Western European countries).
Are you in the same time zone as the UK, 10eke?
So now we need to pick a day when most of us will be able to be online. That's the tricky part. I don't work normal hours because I'm in retail. I work on the weekends, although I've noticd that much of the activity here is during the week. I know that one or two people here log on from work.

So If I log in at 8AM, then Arizona has to log in at 9AM I believe, New York at 11AM, and the UK at 4PM.
Are these times do-able Boopers?

Then of course we need to pick a date. Weekends are bad for me, and I am off Thursday and Friday. How do your schedules look?

Hey, send me some feedback and then perhaps we can really make this happen!!!!!

Take care! I hope to hear from all of you SOON!

My time is GMt+1. I work in a shoe store for 20 hours a week, and I don't have regular times. Sundays are best for me, also monday mornings and at night after 12(11pm for england) when my mother-in-law has gone to bed. Most Thursdays I'm off, but sometimes I do have to work. These are the best times for me. Of course it's my schedule who decides if I can make it here...

Bikerbettyboop
09-17-2003, 01:38 PM
this sounds like it could be a logistics nightmare trying to get everyone on at the same time... but hey I'll play the game as long as someone is the event coordinator and lets us know date and time.....

Arizona doesn't change time.. so we are on Mountain Standard Time... it is so nice not to have to reset clocks!!! Nature does it for us.

09-17-2003, 01:49 PM

09-17-2003, 01:59 PM
I've been giving a lot of thought about this, and even doing a poll... I think the best solution is to come up with a date and since we're all in different time zones, make it an all day affair!

What do you all think?

Hi There;
Just the other day Bexi was asking "Where did everyone go?"
I notice that every single post on page one was replied to today. This ties the record that was set on August 20th ( I am not sure if the twenty six threads is a record because I did not realize you could click on the page number for earlier pages and did not check it that day. )
Way to go Boopers.

An all day event would be cool. I know that some Boopers boop on their work computers, and I notice that we seem to be more active on weekdays than weekends. I would like to vote for a Thursday or a Friday. On Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday I work 12 hour shifts and I would surely miss it! Thursday works for 10EKE too. This would be so fun!

And we would have to create a thread dedicated to this "live chat" day!

How about October 2nd? BikerBettyBoop and I will be done with our show in Prescott by then, and I know I'll be home?????

Or how about a Halloween one?

Sounds like this is starting to come together!

Hey 10eke... do you sell wooden shoes in your shoe shop?

Is it a myth that people in the Nederlands wear wooden shoes and there are windmills everywhere?

I've seen pictures of Holland and it is so beautiful there! You have a very pretty country for your homeland. I love all the flowers and blue sky and the people are so friendly!! Just like you!

I envy you living in such a beautiful country. It must smell wonderful with all the flowers blooming? Do flowers bloom in the fall too or just in spring and summer?

Were you born there?

Don't dispair over your job... if you stop worrying about it something good will happen.. you'll see.... when God closes a door, He opens a window.. so something good will happen for you.. I know it will.

10eke
10-17-2003, 06:43 AM
Haha! No I don't sell wooden shoes... I think they are only sold in garden shops. Some people do wear wooden shoes, but I think it's mostly farmers who wear them.
There are only two windmills I know of that's near here. But I don't think they are used... Oh wait I do know one that's used as a bakery! That's a really nice one!
Do you mean tullips? They only bloom in summer I think. I'm not into tullips... I prefer roses...
I'm born here, in Eindhoven to be precisely! So I've lived here for almost 20 years now.

Bikerbettyboop
10-19-2003, 11:17 PM
Ha ha you must think I'm nuts to think people still wear wooden shoes but I bet it's a neat collector's item and the tourists love them.

I've seen some photos of the Nederlands and the tulips and flowers are so beautiful and it is so green in the spring and summer.

Are people trying to preserve the windmills that aren't in use anymore? Perhaps saving and restoring them for historical purposes?

I hope so because it would be sad to see them disappear.

10eke
10-20-2003, 05:58 AM
Yes, I think some of the windmills are for historic perpose. The bakery I told you about is an oldfashioned bakery, and it's in an oldfashioned windmill, so that's quite historic, don't you think?

Calm down, our little BBooper!:)
I'm not going anywhere...I'm just too busy right now to help coordinate our online "chat" effort right now.
BikerBettyBoop is getting very busy with her business and the holidays and will not be in very much for a while, but I'm sure that she will be checking in from time to time. I'm sure that she won't be able to stay away too long...she won't be able to resist popping in every once in a while I'm sure. She's a true Booper fan and she loves us!:D

I am very busy myself with two jobs (my regular one and my new business) but when I take a break once in a while I always stop in here. You guys are my new family!:D

When I finish the office (the wallpapering is taking forever as it is very difficult paper to work with) and finish my new company logo (almost done) and finish entering our online catalogue to our new website.... then I can take a breath and try to coordinate a group "chat".

You are so sweet! I'm touched that you would miss me... I'd miss you and so I cannot go away!
Take care!

Hey all!
I have a friend that I met in our own forum (Delphi Forums, Free Spirit Riders) who I've been chatting with. We've become pretty good friends and she's moving to a town fairly close to me so I'm hoping to meet her soon. She's on my Yahoo IM so we do real chat from time to time. Anyway I told her that she should put a Betty Boop clock in her new kitchen and I found out that she is also a huge Betty Boop fan! Small world! So naturally I told her about this place. I gave her the address and told her my Booper name, so we should be seeing posts from her shortly.
Her regular screen name is Tweetiebird but I'm not sure if she'll use that here or not. (My name in the outside world, as a few of you know, is MsKittie.....)

Anyway, I'll be watching out for her. She's a cool person. I'll be doing introductions later. If you see her, please give her a big fat "HELLO"!!!!:D :D :D :D

Talk to ya later Boopers!

Yes, that's true. We'll just have to keep talking about it. I have found that if I stay up very late I am on at the same time as Bexi3 in the UK, or if I gat up early. I think that me and others living in the Pacific Time Zone are the farthest west. If we are to do this during regular business hours then people in my time zone need to get up very early or stay up very late.

By the way, have you noticed an increase of new Boopers in the last couple of weeks? More new people are checking us out. This may be a good time to attempt it....

O.k. Boopers!
I'm gonna try to co-ordinate this.
Bexi and I were IMing this morning(my time, afternoon UK time) and I think I can sort this out. It was 8:30 AM my time, Pacific Standard. It was 4:30 PM UK time.
This would be 9:30 Arizona time. It would be 11:30 Eastern time, for you New Yorkers, Floridians, and other east-coast Americans...
I'm not sure where Illinois or the midwest falls here, but I'm sure you Boopers from those parts know your relationship to Eastern Standard.....
10eke, I know you posted a long time ago how your time relates to UK time, but that was so many posts ago, could you post it again? Thanks!

So... If I and other west-coasters start posting at 8:00 AM, would Arizona, etc. folk be able to post at 9:00, and would the east-coasters be able to post at 11:00AM, and would our U.K. friends be able to post at 4:00 PM, and Tineke be able to post during that time??????????? And would a Thursday work for everyone???????

Hey, well....it's a start.....

Your 6th birthday has to come before September to be on track with your grade/age.
It goes something like this:

6th grade=11 years old
7th " 12 years old
8th " 13 years old
9th " 14 """
10 " 15 """
11 " 16 ""

Me too.... I sure don't want anything else to happen to her. We are all so close between my mom and my sis and me. We live next door to each other out here in the country. I moved here first and then brought my mom here and then my sis moved her a year later.

My sister has a brother-in-law on her husband's side who just had his son die on a dirt bike!! My sister just called and told me.. his 17th birthday was last Sunday and he got a new dirt bike and he lost control of it on a curve and went down the side of a hill and was killed! I spoke with my brother-in-law and he said that his brother is feeling so much guilt over buying the motorcycles for his kids but I told him to tell his brother not to blame himself because it was something his sons like to do and it was just a freak accident.

livingbooper
03-11-2004, 03:29 AM
Yes, it was just a freak accident. I know that he must feel absolutely aweful, but he shouldn't beat himself up over it, although I'm sure that he is overwrought with guilt. It was not his fault.... accidents happen. Please convey my condolences.
Please let him know that one of your friends wishes him peace of mind and feels that he is not to blame.
Sometimes God takes people young before we feel that they are ready....

I had a cousin a year and a half younger than me. She was the apple of my Uncle's eye. She was a tomboy and filled the place in his heart for the son he never had. When she was 14 he got her a horse. A jumper, a show horse, named Fancy Pants because he was a palomino with a big brown patch on his hind quarters. She took very good care of Fancy Pants and learned to ride English. Then she trained how to jump. I made her first riding jacket. They were very good and won many awards. She became the California State Champion when she was a senior in high school. You have to be very careful around such big animals because you can get hurt. Fancy kicked her a couple of times. The last time she was kicked it was bad and she suffered fractured bones. But she loved that horse! She was on the mend, barely recovered from the injury when she started feeling ill. She hid it from her parents because there was a big competition and she wanted to compete and win. I can't remember exactly what it was, but I think that it was an event leading to the national championship and it was very important. Well, she hid it, but never made it to the competition. She passed out and they rushed her to the hospital. It turned out that she had spinal menengitis and she didn't make it. She had just graduated from high school the month before.
It was explained to me (I was 19 at the time I think) that she had acomplished so much in her young life, that she'd done what she'd set out to do, and that God had decided that he wanted her with him since her life was complete. It rang true for me because she had achieved her goals having lived soley for the horse. She didn't seem interested in having a boyfriend even, although there was a young man who was very much broken up by her departure.

So things can happen quite unexpectedly. I try to take comfort in the thought that God has a plan, even if we do not understand it, and that things happen for a reason. My cousin Diane is alive in our memories as a young, pretty, determined, ambitious young lady. She will remain with us all as such.

I am sorry to have gone on and on so, but this news that you have feels so much like this history of mine. The memories just came rushing back. And somehow typing this story is kind of like a memorial to my cousin in a way, keeping her alive still....
She was a fantastic young lady, and I know that you would have liked her.:)

bexi3
03-11-2004, 03:56 AM
It's good that you can see it like that Lizzy. So many people are quick to blame themselves or someone else for people's accidents and tragedies when it really isn't anyone's fault. My mum always told me when I was younger that everything happens for a reason, and if your number is called, then that's the way it was meant to be. It took me a while to get my head round that at a young age, but now I understand it and believe it and it makes things like that easier to understand and accept. x

JennyBoop
03-11-2004, 10:29 AM

Bikerbettyboop
03-11-2004, 12:14 PM
Lizzy thanks for the kind words. I spoke with my brother-in-law and gave him your message to give to his brother.

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin Diane. She sounds like a wonderfully talented young woman who did achieve a lot of her dreams at a young age.

I guess it's hard to justify whey some people live such a short time while others (who just don't appreciate life at all! Like murderers, etc.) seem to live forever!

When I was 13, I had a 12 year old cousin named Dennis who was visiting one of our aunts in Florida and he drowned at her house about 2 hours after the family got there! And the tragedy didn't end for that family. Less than a year and a half later, their oldest son was 19 and he was killed in an auto accident 2 days after Christmas!

IT nearly devastated my aunt to lose two sons in less than 18 mos and she and my uncle both went downhill from there and she died 2 years later at the age of 47 and her only daughter also died from a rare kidney disease when she was 30 years old.

So tragedy hit that family hard but I know I will see them all again in heaven someday.

livingbooper
03-16-2004, 07:22 PM
Yes, I'm sure that you will.
Looks like God decided that the family needed to be brought back together again and now they are all together and at peace.

Boy, that sure was a whole lot to bear. I hope that I never have to go through all that.

Bikerbettyboop
03-16-2004, 07:42 PM
Yep it was pretty rough... but Don and I both have the attitude that we live and love and enjoy life for those in our family who aren't here anymore to enjoy it with us.
