Hi everyone.
Like BikerBettyBoop I like to ride my motorcycle.
I want to start this thread to talk about riding and Betty Boop!

The battery in my Shadow ACE Deluxe needed charging and we finally got it charged up. My boyfriend finally got his new VTX, we finally got a day off together, so we went out RIDING!

I will not have a day off from work for a couple of weeks, so we made this day count.
We rode for over 200 miles today and were out for over 8 hours. It was great fun. We rode through the back hills of Mount Diablo (my local mountain), then rode through various areas of "The Delta". This is a large area where the Sacramento River meets up with northeastern sections of the San Francisco Bay. There are lots of islands and levies here. We rode along a levy and turned toward Lodi, then ended up in Stockton. Stockton is huge and we rode all over the place there. My boyfriend's bike is brand new and he doesn't have a windshield yet. We tried to avoid the freeway but ended up having to be on one to get part of the way home. The area where we live is heavily developed, but the beautiful countryside that we rode through today made our hearts soar. Thank goodness you don't have to go too far to see orchards, farmland, horse corrals, and cow pastures. It was wonderful to get out into the country.

livingbooper
07-05-2006, 12:14 PM
I'm afraid that there are no Harleys at my house. I keep using my Harley Davidson credit card hoping to win one someday, though!;)

No, I was unaware of the Betty Boop motorcycle accessories. My motorcycle key is on a fringed betty Boop key fob though.

Bikerbettyboop
07-05-2006, 12:31 PM
Hi Lizzy!!! I was only razzing you about the Harleys. As you know, I love all motorcycles!!

We use our H-D credit card all the time but haven't won a Harley either!! But you just never know cause someone has to win!!

The motorcycle accessory line is brand new and just came out. It's awesome to see that they finally introduced leather items for the motorcycle too. It sure took long enough!!

What has happened to all the motorcycle riders?

livingbooper
07-10-2006, 05:38 PM
I had to work all weekend. I hope to ride later today, though.
Yes, choppers are pretty to look at, but not very comfy and not easy to control. I know that I will pass on riding one....

Last year I got a new seat for my Shadow and boy-oh-boy-oh-boy is it ever so much more comfy than the stock seat was! And prettier too! It's a Mustang seat complete with fringe, conchos, and a backrest. I love the backrest on my back. I can ride longer with less fatigue.:D

Bikerbettyboop
07-10-2006, 06:17 PM
I have a hard enough time handling my bike without having one that has a front end extended out so far.

Your seat sounds really nice. I changed my seat too from the stock one to a better seat.

I'm a Mustang seat dealer.... so I know you got a good seat!!

livingbooper
07-10-2006, 06:59 PM
You sell Mustang seats? Really? Wow. They are really nice seats and I love mine. Is yours a Mustang?

I can't believe the difference in the comfort! There is no comparison!

Jack is replacing the seat on his brand new VTX. The stock one is uncomfortable for him. I guess it's because he's a really big guy. He has one on order with "Ultimate Seats". Those are super comfortable. I bought one for the "Dragon", the show Valkyrie, when I was at that show in Prescott, the time I met you in person. That is a really nice seat as well.

Bikerbettyboop
07-10-2006, 07:37 PM
I don't stock the Mustang seats.. just sell them as customers want them.

Having the right seat makes all the difference in the world!!

What's a VTX? Got a photo of it?

Neckless
07-10-2006, 08:12 PM
Hahah!! You're right Living.
Choppers are beautiful machines for viewing.

I think I posted a picture of it at the beginning of this thread. It's the bright candy-apple red bike. It's 1300 CCs and it has great high-tech lines. It really is beautiful. Jack really likes the ride and handling. Now he says that I should get one! His bike is too big for me, in my opinion, though, and I really like my 750 Shadow. My shadow is perfect for me. Maybe someday I may get an 1100 CC bike, but I really don't need the power of 1300 CCs. And "some day" = a long time from now..... The cool thing about the VTX is that even though it's a Honda, it is made in the U.S.A., just like the Valkyries.

Bikerbettyboop
07-11-2006, 10:41 AM
Oh that's right... I just went back and checked the photos.. nice bikes!

A friend of mine is looking at Victory Motorcycles.. also made in the USA.

There is a big Honda plant in Torrance, CA. Not too far from where Lowell lives.

livingbooper
07-11-2006, 02:09 PM
Victory makes a nice bike.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jack's bike was made in Torrence if that factory produces motorcycles.

Yesterday Jack told me that there is talk about Indian getting back into business and producing bikes again. I love the way Indians look. Jack says that the last time around the Indian engines weren't very good. If they got their act together I would be very tempted to look at them. I just think that Indians are very cool. Once upon a time there was an Indian dealership down the street from where I live and there was this one purple motorcycle that I just coveted. I think I drooled every time I drove past, LOL!

Bikerbettyboop
07-11-2006, 03:33 PM
I like Indians too... my dad had several in his life time. We had an Indian dealer in Prescott too but it is now a Victory dealer.

Would be nice to see the Indians brought back to life again.

livingbooper
07-11-2006, 04:15 PM
It sure would!:D

I remember the Indian dealer in Prescott. Don and I visited it when we were visiting the area. They had some gorgeous bikes there.

It's pretty nice to ride here but the traffic around Prescott and Prescott Valley has really increased and that makes it a little scarey sometimes.

Our neighboring town of Chino Valley recently bought a brand new Harley for their one and only motorcycle police officer. I see him around from time to time.

Today is Ride To Work Day!

Today is when motorcyclists across the nation ride their motorcycles to work! Interesting facts here about motorcycles:

Sometimes I see car motorists riding very close to motorcyclists.
I wonder why they do that!! Makes me shiver.

I wonder why they do that!! Makes me shiver.

I've had that happen and I know other motorcycle riders have too. One time a guy came so close to me when he changed lanes, he almost clipped me. I was close enough that I threw out my leg and whammed his fender! Startled him for sure.. when we stopped at the stop light, he yelled out the window that he was sorry and he didn't see me.

I think people are blind when it comes to motorcycles. They see us but they don't really "see" us. Even with front lights on high beam during the day, motorists are sometimes in never never land when it comes to thinking about other cars and motorcycles!

I just hope that everyone here on the forum sees this as a wake up call and tries to be more attentive to motorcycle riders.

Sorry to be on the podium about this but it's an important subject to me!! And I hope other motorcycle riders will agree.

Lizzy, I forgot to tell you that I rode my motorcycle last Sunday. Went to brunch with some friends of ours.

Two of the ladies who started riding the same time I did have retired and no longer want to ride their own motorcycles. I will keep riding as long as I am physically able to.

Yesterday Jack and I rode our bikes to Lake Berryessa. The color of the water was amazing, kind of a teal green. The color was actually just like the phots in real life, very beautiful.

After we passed the lake we continued on the road which turned into a seldom used country road. There wasn't another soul out there. There were large areas of road that were very rough. The area looked like my area hd looked many years ago before developement.
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/dragonlady99/Berryessa%20Ride/CaliforniaHills.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>...<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/dragonlady99/Berryessa%20Ride/TheRoadahead.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Eventually the road got better then bigger and we ended up at Clear Lake for gas. We rode back home through Napa County and the wine country.
It was a beautiful day and a great ride.

Hey Lizzy thanks for the photos of Lake Berryessa! It's beautiful! I used to go there all the time when I lived in Vacaville from 1974 until 1980! Still as pretty as I remember it!

Don and I rode our motorcycles today too! Looks like you had a blast yesterday!

livingbooper
08-15-2006, 07:18 PM
Yes we did. We had a real good time. I am mad at myself for not setting my odometer before I left so that I could see just how many miles we went. next time... next time...

It's cool that you and Don got to go out. I hope that you had fun too!
See what I mean... it's in our blood!;)

I'm glad that the photos took you on a nice trip down Memory Lane.:D

Bikerbettyboop

I always set my odometer so I know how much gasoline I've used. I hate to run out and have to turn on my reserve... so I always get gas way before I need to! Usually at the beginning of each trip cause we have a gas station close to our house. Yep it was soooo much fun! Had a blast. I had a little trepidation and hesitation about going and almost didn't and Don said if I didn't then I should sell the bike cause it's safer to be more experienced... so I said "ok... let's go" and off we went and had such a great time!!

Lizzy do you and Jack have any plans to be out on your bikes this weekend?

We hope to find a few minutes to ride somewhere, sometime this weekend. We also have 2 BBQ's planned and the band is playing a private party Sunday evening.

Going to be a busy weekend. Ride safe if you get out on your motorcycles.

It's the weekend for the 4 Corners Rally in Colorado!

Going to be a busy weekend. Ride safe if you get out on your motorcycles.

It's the weekend for the 4 Corners Rally in Colorado!

Don rode his newly cleaned and polished motorcycle to work today. I sure hope it doesn't rain

Rain always finds newly washed cars and trucks and motorcycles etc....Hahaha...I wonder why!

I can't really tell you which is the best bike to get as I'm not an expert in that field. My only suggestions are to get one that fits you and that you're comfortable with.

AND most importantly... if you don't have your motorcycle license already, take a beginner's riding class and get your license!!

The size of bike will depend upon your size and the model and style will depend upon what kind of riding you want to do.

Give me more info and I'll give you some more suggestions. :D

Well I am 5,5 in height and I am about 107 pounds and I would like the bike for either joy riding or taking bike trips like from Dawson Creek to Vancouver! IT takes 13 hours by a car I wonder how long it would take on a bike? that would be fun to find out!:) Plus I guess it would also matter if I wanted to have company with me or not? Is that right? I really like the bikes in the pics! But I also really like the bikes on that show OCC! But I really don't Know much about them! Hey Angel Eyes... nice Harley. I have a 2003 Harley 1200 Sportster. My husband has 2 Harleys! I've gone down in the gravel twice lately and I haven't ridden since then. Sounds like you had a lot of fun riding. Be careful on those twisty roads!!

I guess I should probably see if they offer a class around here so I can learn to ride. It would be great If James and I could get out there and ride our own bikes. he has decided to get a new bike in March and he is getting me a new car. The water pump busted yesterday and tore the belt off. He said it won't be long and I'll have another car. He is going to give me his motorcycle to practice on when he gets his new one.

Sorry to hear about your water pump and it will be great for you to get a new car... a new car is better than a new motorcycle!! You two be safe on those bikes!! I always advise taking the motorcycle safety class.. it's really worth it!!

That sounds like a great idea, taking a class. But it would have to wait cause i'm taking some classes now and my plate is kinda full. You all look so

Taking motorcycle riding classes is an excellent idea. I took the course before I got my first motorcycle. You will learn of skills and good practices to keep you riding safe. Some states have helmet laws that require you to ride with helmets and some do not. California has such a law, but even if there wasn't a law I would still ALWAYS ride with a helmet. It's part of staying safe.

Once I learned how to ride that did it... I am hooked on riding and much prefer being the rider rather than the passenger. It's much more fun!

Most big Harley Stores offer a class, and they are the best. And then once you take your class, they can sell you bike too....lol.

Hi Theresa. My rib is better, although I am still being very careful. It's well enough that I forget about it and have to remind myself to take it easy. That's a good thing. I plan on getting back in the saddle in the spring. Jack drained the gas out of the bikes for the winter.

Yes, I am busy busy!;)
