i'm baaack! :D
As you guys may have noticed i haven't been around much lately, but not to fear, as this booper is back!!!

Over the last few weeks i have had my exams, and before that i was working my bottom off with coursework and revision!! but, now thats all over and done with i have lots of free time to boop-oop-a-doop the day away, at my favourite place....HERE!!!
i've changed quite a lot since i was last here, both in my appearence and in my mind :)
first, here's a more recent photo of myself (sorry you can't really see my face!)

http://myspace-944.vo.llnwd.net/00845/44/97/845637944_l.jpg
as you can see ive continued to loose weight (i have no idea how! i haven't been dieting at all! it must have been all the school work :P), and i've had a change of hair do!

secondly, ive met the most amazing boy i could hope for :)
lol, his name is Chris and i like him looooads, and he likes me too :)
i met him over myspace (a site mentioned in another thread), but he lives near to me.
don't worry, i've been good and i know he is who he says he is thanks to the wonderful world of webcamming! lol.
we haven't met yet but i'm hoping it will be soon! (in a busy place with lots of people and with a group of friends, im safety conscious!)

the change in me mind wise is weird. i find myself almost being straight edge. i dont drink alcohol (which for a lot of kids my age is rare!), i dont smoke, eat meat or take drugs. And knowing this makes me feel great!

In the next few weeks a few things will be happening, but after that my plans are minimal.
Next Friday (7th July) is my prom :) i have my dress and everything that goes with it sorted, i'll psot some pictures afterwards!!
Next sunday (9th) i go off to a summer school for 5 days at a university. its a part of an 'aim higher' programme for over achieving students in the area, i'm so excited to be going!!
In september i start college, where i hope to be studying History, Textiles, Fine art and Photography, and perhaps Philsophy or Critical Thinking as an extra subject (if i get the high grades im hoping for!)

so, that was just an update for you guys so you know whats going on in my life :)
i've missed this place and promise to be around more often!!

Super thin...
That's great!

Wonderful accomplishments BBooper! Love your OUTLOOK referencing your future study. Those days you'll spend at the University will be awesome. You'll feel so over achieved and special. Aim High...you owe that to yourself.
PROM..did you say?? Wow!! You're there! What are you wearing?? Is the "amazing" beau, Chris, escorting you to this "once in a lifetime" occasion?
As a "straight edge"...YOU ARE a rare coin. I commend you and your efforts.

Well...I am finished with my schooling too! I'm having some exams that express my qualifications to teach students (like yourself) on a higher level. So far, I have PASSED the FIRST one. It's vacation time for me.

Nice to see ya back here in print!

BBooper

yes, i did say that P-R-O-M word :P unfortunately Chris wont be escorting me as only people from my school are allowed to go (****s i know!!).
congrats on passing your first test!! i'm sure your going to make the best higher level teacher around!! :D

This maybe more of a safety net for the attending students. It's quite UNDERSTANDABLE.
You'll have fun with a group of girls too! Laughing and being giddy as we girls can be.

THANKS!!

hey guys! sorry i didnt reply earlier, i was going to do it yesterday but fell asleep! (thats the worst excuse ever, but its true! lol!)

Summer school was great fun!!
The classes were ok, but not as exciting as i'd hoped for. I enjoyeed the photgraphy class though :D got to paly around with a polaroid camera!!
The best part of it all was making new friends! i made friends with a small group of people, Chloe, Mark, Rachael, Leigh and Ashly :D
We had great fun, especially on a night time when we usually ended up doing something crazy to mark!! hehe, he just laughed at us though!
it started with giving him a hair make over, he had bows, pigtails and everything :P then, the next day we decided to make his room a bit more exciting by hiding biscuits everywhere, we even stuck on to the cieling! haha!! he found it hilarious and said thanks, because it meant he could clean up...which he enjoys! lol! Then, on the last night, we traded clothes! my sister had marks trousers, shoes and hoody on, Aslhy had his had, jumper, jacket and bag, and Mark had my skinny jeans, shoes and my sister t-shirt on! it was soo funny!!!
i'm really glad i made some new friends who i can stay in touch with, and we don't live all the far away from each other! :D

I know what you mean. We have real friends here, lasting relationships. Oh my, now I'm getting choked up!

That was VERY cool when we met in Prescott. Remember when we first saw and recognized each other? We threw our arms around each other and gave each other a big hug. I'll never forget that. I knew it was you from your Betty Boop t-shirt. I can't remember, but I think I was wearing mine too. Meeting you was the best part of coming to Prescott. That and finally getting to see Sedona and the Grand Canyon on the way home....
Remember how you set up your Betty Boop booth and I kept wanting to buy almost everything and had to put the brakes on??? Haha... that took all my willpower, let me tell you....:D I love the stuff I got from you there.

I still keep in touch with Becky..."Bexi" She has had so many changes and seems so busy that I never seem to catch her online anymore. One day she wants to visit me and I want to visit her in England. Last time I chatted with her she was doing well.

Of course I remember meeting you and yes you had a Betty Boop shirt on... from the red hair and the shirt, I knew it had to be you!! LOL!!!

It was fun... but you know that was the one and only time I ever exhibited at a motorcycle rally... just too much work setting up and tearing down.

If I ever do that again, I'll have someone else do all the work and I'll just socialize with the customers.. (yeah right... when I'm rich... hahah)

Ha ha ha! I am a good listener and I would probably be listening and laughing!

I have an Aunt and a cousin who live in Lakeport and 2 cousins who live in Olympia. I think my cousin the famous surgeon (in the medical community) lives in Seattle. Where in Washington do you live? That is a gorgeous state! Tacoma was the last place my dad lived. I remember that it rains a lot there, even in summer. But that's why it is so GREEN.

I'm in Central Washington, and it doesn't rain as much on this side of the mountains as it does on the West side. i live in what's called the Columbia basin, farm country. and yes it is green, that's why i love it so much.

I think there are myths about some of the states... Washington and Oregon rain all the time (not true) and Arizona is hot all the time and is desert (not true either)

I've also heard that it rains all the time in the United Kingdom and London in particular... I bet that's not true either is it Leigh?

For Washington and Oregon it does rain quit a bit on the west side of the Cascade Mountains, but as for the east side it's pretty dry.

You know, my aunt brags about him all the time. He often lectures around the country. I think I recall her writing that he is a well-known brain surgeon.

And to think that when we were kids I just thought of him as a spoiled brat!!!

Oh, it's no myth when it comes to the coast of Washington state. My Dad made Tacoma his home and when I'd come to visit for a week during the summer it often rained or threatened rain. One year, we didn't get to go to the beach (a lake beach) at all. Came back to a blistering hot and dry California....
I toyed with the idea of moving there, but I decided that all the overcast weather would have been too depressing for me. Of course, I never did think about checking further east into the state....

Bikerbettyboop

When I spoke of the myth, I meant that it's a myth that it rains all over the state. But I think it's more just the coastal regions.

Tyes here at the very moment! He's asleep, for the first time today, so i thought i'd seize the chance while i could to pop by!!
i got a nice surprise yesterday. My mum and dad went ot visit their friends, ivy and Harry. Ivy used to sell sewing machines and did demonstrations on them so she's really good at making garments. Anyway, she bought a size adjusting dressmaking model a few years back but only used it twice. She's being doing some clearing out an always keeps in mind that i enjoy doing textile work and will continue it at college, so she gave it to me!!! I was gobsmacked whe my mum brought it and and was like 'This is Martha', as named by Ivy.' lol!!! i phoned her straight away thanking her and she said she's always happy to be of help, and that if she'd known i could have had it earlier. She's in the middle of clearing out her 'Shed', which is jam packed with textiles and she said she's keeping anything that might be of use to me :D
Im still pretty wowed at the fact that she gave me the model!!!

Congratulations BBooper! That's FABULOUS! I hope that Marsha will be able to give you lots of help with your chosen work. Are you going into clothing design? That should be a fun, creative, and rewarding! That is so cool that Ivy gave you such a cool and useful gift. And also it's great that she's keeping you in mind for the other goodies she's getting rid of. A friend like that is a true friend indeed!

I am off work today and doing well. The temperature is mild today, very pretty, and I am getting rested from the past two weeks where I worked straight through with no days off. I am bonding with my new dog that I got yesterday. She is precious. I am still trying to pick a name so I am going to start a thread to see if the Boopers can help... That was very good advice that your mom gave you Lizzy. I saw on tv recently a documentary about how teenagers want instant gratification and they said it has something to do with the way the brain grows and matures. As we get older, we have more patience and are willing to work for things. I think it would be difficult to be a teenager today because of peer pressures and there are so many electronic gadgets that every kid just has to have to be with the "in" crowd.

Yes, I'm kind of glad I grew up when I did. The pace of life was so much more easy-going then.... I remember spending hours in the library doing research for my homework and now info is available at the touch of a key. I learned a lot of things just researching my subject trying to find the info I wanted. Nowadays you get exactly what you want and perhaps not the depth and richness of pouring over books. You had to wait for everything. There also seemed to be less peer pressure.

Of course, now that I am adult I LOVE all the new gadgets! LOL! My boyfriend calls me "Gadget Girl", lol! I think middle age is a lot more easy to live with and fun with all the new techno toys that are out there...

Now, Theresa, you explained why teenagers want instant gratification. That makes sense. But is there an explanation for the many full grown adults who are impatient and who should know better?
I sell custom order furniture which takes some time to get. Lead times have always been pretty much the same for decades. It amazes me when people want something custom then get up in arms when I give them the time quote. I guess everyone in our society has come to expect instant gratification.....

livingbooper
08-03-2006, 12:44 PM
Having said all this Leigh... just how long did it take you to get the shirt?
I do have the personal policy to stop doing business with a company that gives bad service. My personal opinion is that if the company sells something like a T shirt it should keep inventory onhand or have it available to ship fairly quickly.

I hope that we didn't make you feel bad, Leigh. These were just observations about our society in general. If the lead time was ridiculous I would not purchase anything else from them either.;)

You're right about that ... I think a lot of adults (myself included) also fall in that "instant gratification" syndrome. I think it's because we're lamblasted with commercials and the ease with which we acquire instant credit with retailers and banks. Plus I think somethings may be less expensive and easier and faster to buy now than they were in the old days. I know people are going to say I'm crazy but I think big discount retailers like Wal-Mart have made things more affordable by bringing in so many imports.

Scotland is a place that I really want to visit someday. My ancestors came from there. My uncle has the family tartan. I am from the Ferguson clan. When I was a kid the first couple of dogs we had were Shetland sheepdogs.

Well, haha, that is what my mother's relatives say... but to keep that in perspective, that was many centuries ago....

I am quite a "mutt" actually. My ancestors hail from Germany (some from Prussia actually before Germany took over), Ireland (from both sides), Scotland, and on my mother's side... there is debate on what we are.

My great grandparents who were Christians fled the city of Aleppo in Syria to avoid being murdered by the Muslims at the beginning of the 1900s. My great grandmother was pregnant with my grandmother. Some of my mother's relatives say we are Turkish, my mother insists we are Syrian, but I along with a few of my cousins believe that we are really Armenian and our greatgrandfather changed the ending of the name to protect his family. At around the time my greatgrandparents emmigrated from their home there was what history now calls The Armenian Holocaust. Having worked with Armenians and people from the middle east I am convinced that the "ian" was dropped off the end of the family name and we are part Armenian. The current events in the world are particularly chilling to me.

Hey guys! sorry it took so long to get back to you! ive had a hecktic few days!!!

Scotland was great fun! the village i stayed in was so quite, it was really peaceful! the house i stayed in, my auntys holiday cottage, was made up of 3 cottages and a house all knocked into one so it was HUGE!
at the end of the week we stopped by Edinburgh to the festival! what fun! i used to go when i was little and forgot how much i loved it!!!
Ill post some pictures in the photgraphy thread, as i tried to take only "arty farty" types of photos, lol!!

in a weeks time its my best friends birthday, so today i made a tshirt for her :]
i thought it would make a nice and unique present for her!
she LOVES pirates and her second name is bell, which pretty much explains the tee! lol!!

If I recall from an old thread a couple of years ago, the British educational system is set up differently from the American system. If I remember correctly what we think of as our junior and senior years in high school the British send their youth to College. It is not college as we know it. When we go to "college" the British go to "university". This is what I remember, anyway. Perhaps Leigh can clarify this.

Hi Leigh!! Welcome back! Nice to see you again! You are sorely missed when you're not here but I understand that you are busy with school.

The first few weeks are usually spent on introductions and learning the nuts and bolts of it all. It will pick up and so will your work load probably.

By travelling, do you mean going to and from school or travelling from classroom to classroom? If it's a big campus, it can wear you out just trying to get between classes.

Hang in there.. you'll do fine and be accustomed to it in no time at all.

I thought about you yesterday when I heard about that idiot in Canada (near Montreal) who was shooting at college students there. It was pretty scarey.

Hope you are well and happy! Love and hugs to you!! I miss you!

Hi BBooper... thanks for the update... sounds like you are sure keeping busy with your education. And it sounds like it's going to keep you slim and trim with all that traveling you're doing!!

Glad you got to go into Newcastle and found Paul Smith! How fun is that?

My husband and I went into town on Saturday and bought 10 new c.d.s so we can add some new material to our material for our band. It was fun!!

Got together with the guys Saturday afternoon and played... we decided to just jam rather than have a full out rehearsal/practice session! It was a blast!

Hold on to Paul's autograph.. it might be worth a lot of money someday!! But I know it's pretty meaningful right now!!

I went to another Gig on wednesday for a band named 'BoyKillBoy'. it was pretty immense! the place where it was held was really small so it felt a lot more of an intimate gig! I'm goiung to see a local band who are becoming big where i live called 'Seven Heroes'. Should be good!
Then, i don't see any more bands until Janurary when i get to see Hellogoodbye :D can't wait for that gig!!!

Anyway, college is starting to get really interesting now! Work is getting on its way and i've started putting together sketch books for photography, fine art and textiles :D it's so much fun!!!

As for Tye, he's really got the hang of walking now!! and hardly ever crawls. He's also started to try and speak properly, but often just comes out with bits of blah, lol!! Tye sounds like he is really growing up. He is so cute!

Here's a photo of my great nephew (he's 4 1/2 now!) and my great niece at her 2nd birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Don and I are taking them to the pumpkin farm in town this Saturday.. it should be fun!!

Hey Boopers!
How are you all?
Good i hope!!!

First of all i want to start by saying a HUUUUGE SORRY! for not being around much these days!!
College takes up most of my time now and when i'm not doing coursework i'm falling asleep to a good ole DVD in bed!!
I'm loving college at the moment, i have lots of friends and enjoy all ym subjects!!

Life at home is great, Tyes growing up fast and i see him quite a lot which makes me happy!!

Not much has happened since i was last on.
I recently tried donating blood but was unable to due to my heart condition, i was really bummed out!!! My sister was healthy enough to donate though, and my dad came along with us too to give his donation!!

Christmas soon....WHEY!
You boopers excited?
I know i am!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!
