I have seen lots of hype about it on television lately. Mainly the news, reporting about the young people that go on there.

So I was curious to see what it was all about. I ventured over to MYSPACE and developed my own space. It is rather interesting. I found some friends that I went to high school with, long lost "chat" buddies, and some family members.

My husband was telling me that almost everyone in his office has their own space as well. I find it interesting that these people being of the age 40plus have a profile as well. ( I am not saying it is surprising and that older people can not enjoy the computer too!) You never hear about the older people with profiles, all I ever hear about is young teens on there.

My question to you boopers:

How many of you have a space on MYSPACE?

I am just curious to know how many people actually do visit that site.

I have a MySpace... Only because my fave actor Anthony Michael Hall has one. I added him as a friend, and he added me too! And when I mailed him he mailed me back! That's the only reason I have a myspace really. To contact Him!!
Also, another reason: my fave Irish singer from a boyband that no longer excists, has one too, and added me, but I didn't contact him yet... Michael's more important ;)

I thought it was a place for the younger generation as well. But then my husband was telling me almost everyone in his office has a page. They are all 40+. So it is not so much just for the kids.

They have an area where you can search for people you went to school with to see if they have a page. I really enjoy looking through there and see what everyone has done with their lives since high school.

I dont know that much about it yet- but in just browsing within 10 miles of my zip code- there are 1,000 people- and thats just mainly my age group. I typed in my highschool and there was 36 pages of people.....

My space is just a place where you can post information and photos about yourself and connect with other people. Its not necessarily a bad idea, but its used mostly by kids who often don't realize how to play safe on the Internet. Sometimes they innocently post information that allows others to track them down and that can be very dangerous. All you really have to post is your school name or even just your school mascot and someone who wants to do you harm can use that information with other things you've said in other posts to start a search and track you down. And it does happen. I used to work in radio and sometimes had to read some really awful stories on the air about some creep who found a youngster on the Internet, tracked them down and assaulted, kidnapped and sometimes even killed them. Its the kind of story that is hard to read on the air without getting angry.

Play safe on the Internet so that you can KEEP BOOPIN'!

Ken that is very wise advise. My son has a spot on myspace and I go check his profile out once in awhile just to be sure he's not posting something that could cause him harm.

As for me I don't accept anyone that I don't know, except all you boopers I will gladly accept. You do have to be very careful because it doesn't take much for some sicko to figure out who you are and do some kind of awful harm to you or some one else. So the least amount of information you put on the web the better.

Weren't we once strangers? It takes time to develop trust and relationships. The thing that is nice about this forum is that we all have a major common interest in Betty Boop... the difference with My Space is that everyone in the world can participate and some of those folks may not have the same interests that you have. But I know what you mean about not talking to strangers.. I already got an email from someone and I just deleted it and didn't respond.. just like junk email that comes to my personal email address.

I didn't burn out... I think I was just "over the hill".

I was with the same station for 12 years and went through numerous ownership changes and managed to survive each one but then they brought in a hot shot GM from some wild rock station in Ohio and changed our format, so I knew it was time for me to go. I'm a country girl at heart and just couldn't sell the new rock format to myself or anyone else...

I always thought I'd be in radio but it was never quite the same either in Las Vegas or here in Arizona once I left California. Oh but I had some great times and met some fantastic people while in radio!!

yes, i agree! i find myspace pretty safe, you can block people you dont like and set your profile to private, plus you dont have to accept people you don't know.

they should sweetie but they dont always listen to their parents no matter how much we drum it into their heads....like my daughter...i finally had to take her off the computer...she can only get on when i let her....some kids are smart and listen. others dont!!!!

i know a lot of bands get started up on myspace and can get huge fan bases through it, fall out boy was a band that have became very big recently and they started out by joining myspace.
it's also a great way to find local unsigned bands too :)

you have to make a special profile though.
you do this by going to 'music' and then pressing 'artis signup' just under the blue tool bar :D
that way you can upload songs onto their profile for everyone to hear! :]

We are still working on "getting our act together" as they say. So I will let you know when it does "come together". We're working on a website and promotions kit.

I am listening to Rude Mood's music and we play the same kind of music too! Country and Southern Rock with some classic rock thrown in!!

Right now we're pretty diversified... two of the guys perform as a duo and Don and I also perfrom as a duo and sometimes we have a 3rd member, so we're a trio. But we can also be a 5 piece band when needed.

One of the guys wants to be the house band for a local bar and he's trying to convince the rest of us to go along with it but we're all nay sayers who don't want to work in a bar every Friday and Saturday night!!

I'm the one who books us, so he's working real hard to convince me that this is the way to go but so far he's talking to a brick wall with me!! LOL!!

Everyone of us is 50 or older (me... I'm the oldest member at 56!!) and we all have other hobbies and interests besides music... so we're not going to play every weekend in a smokey old honkey tonk!! LOL!! (not if I have my way that is!!)

its the maricopa county hospital comprehensive medical clinic and we are two labs. one one the first floor ,which is huge and a small one on the second floor....but due to lack of staff we only have one open which is mine on the first floor...i draw blood and do alot of computer work....i do preg testing and ua testing and ob testing...i do alot....alot!!! i also help out in starting iv's in difficult patients...i get all the draws where nurses and doctors cant find veins...somehow, i can....i dont know why but i just can....it even amazes me sometimes....well thats some of the things i have done, i have also assisted in paps and giving baby shots....plus i do alot more.....but i will leave it at that....

WELL, THANK YOU MY DEAR.....I LIKE TO THINK SO....BUT YOU KNOW US HOSPITAL WORKERS....OVERWORKED AND UNDERPAID.....AND SO MANY LEAVE....LEAVING US SHORT ALLLLL OF THE TIME!!! THEY CANT TAKE THE PRESSURE OF THE MASS CONFUSION AND TOTAL INSANITY OF WORKING IN A HOSPITAL....I WORKED THIS WEEKEND AND HAD SO MANY TRAUMAS...BASICALLY CAR ACCIDENTS...ONE GUY WAS HELPING HIS WIFE OUT WITH THE CAR AND WENT TO GO INTO THE TRUNK AND A CAR SMASHED UP RIGHT BEHIND HIM...THEY HAD TO AMPUTATE HIS LEG AND HE IS MESSED UP BAD...ALL FOR HELPING HIS WIFE....AND HE IS UNDER 30 YEARS OF AGE...HIS LIFE BASICALLY GONE....THE ONE HE KNEW...NOW HE HAS TO START ALL OVER AGAIN....SAD....
