They want to have fun.

I met someone from some part of Arizona, USA and they spoke of the high winds, fires and dryness.

Yep, we're having hot dry high winds which help spread the wildfires... the problem is some people here aren't considering that their actions start these fires.

Campfires have been banned here but some of the wildfires have been traced back to campfires! Some people just don't think of the consequences of their actions!!

richard kolasch
06-20-2006, 02:07 PM
most of Missouri states parks.
are banned from making camp fires.

Bikerbettyboop
06-20-2006, 02:09 PM
They have banned fires here because our fire danger is so high. It's bad!! Smoke in the sky everywhere!

richard kolasch
06-20-2006, 02:39 PM
i guess you can see the fires too.

Bikerbettyboop

Bikerbettyboop
06-20-2006, 07:30 PM
I haven't seen the California fires... just the ones here in AZ and the flooding in Texas and I guess bad winds in Milwaukee Wisconsin caused some damage to homes and businesses too. What is up with Mother Nature?

You have the best of both worlds here. The mainland tours and the snorkeling and diving tours. Here you can enjoy all of the adventure travel Belize has to offer. Snorkel or Dive the barrier reef, trek through exotic rainforests, hike in a beautiful cave and see ancient Mayan artifacts, explore ancient Mayan ruins, see exotic tropical birds, kayak the Caribbean or the calm lagoon, and feel the exhilaration of a salt-water fish spinning line off your reel.

Relax and enjoy the view from one of the beach cabins, Read a book in a hammock while you sway in the cool Caribbean breeze. Both one-and two-bedroom cabins are available with kitchenettes or fully equipped kitchen, a/c, king, queen , double and twin beds with private porches. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance of the Inn or you can dine in our lagoon side cafe.

Tours begin at different times. Tropical Belize Tours will pick you up at the hotel and begin your tour. At the end of your tour adventure, you will be returned to your hotel. Enjoy Belize with Tropical Belize Tours and Maya Breeze Inn.

flooding in Texas

It did! Houston's low lying areas had 10 to 12 inches of the wet stuff.
My son was not affected. He couldn't go into Houston City to work.
Phone lines were soaked. No outside contact. Luckily he has mobile phones. Things are back to normal. Lots of peoples' homes were flooded around one of the major airports there.

Bikerbettyboop
06-21-2006, 10:41 AM
Oh that's right, I forgot that your son lives in Houston.. sure glad that he wasn't affected but I can't imagine what a mess that must be... does Belize ever flood?

Believe it or not, we had a flood zip right past us in 2004! Freak rain storms filled up the lake next to us and then it overflowed the dam. It was sure frightening to watch!

But once it stopped raining, the flood subsided.. but it did cut off some people from their homes and cattle were standing in water for a couple of days... sure made a mess and lots of mosquitoes!

does Belize ever flood?
Record-setting rains flood mainland Belize

Here's a news article of the flood in 06 Jan. in the Cayo District. http://www.cdera.org/cunews/news/belize/article_1524.php

Yes! We occasionally have flooding.

Bikerbettyboop
06-21-2006, 11:01 AM
Wow that is pretty wild... but at least there were only 6 people had to evacute their homes.

There are so many people here in Arizona who are having to evacuate because of the fires, many hotels are offering them free rooms... which I think is nice.. but still probably not very meaningful to the folks who may lose their homes to the fires.

I also read the short story about Wrestling With a Wowla
http://www.7newsbelize.com/index.shtml#7

I hate snakes!!! They are not special to me!!

Neckless
06-21-2006, 11:07 AM
I'm NOT a snake fan either!

The boa constrictor, known as "wowla" in Belize, are found countrywide as well as on some of the offshore cayes. They will easily inhabit populated areas where rodents and songbirds are abundant.
Boas vary in color from brown to gray with irregular saddles down the entire dorsal body. boas have very large curved teeth for grasping prey before constricting. The boa constrictor is the largest snake in Belize, attaining a length of up to twelve feet.

Boas feed primarily on birds, rodents and small mammals. They will also feed on lizards and iguanas. When threatened, a boa will hiss and strike. Although carrying no poison, a bite can be painful. A large female may give birth to as many as fifty young at one time.

when i live in texas.Houston does flood.
the streets are bad to drive on.

Neckless
06-28-2006, 10:36 AM
Oh indeed...they call it "H-Town". It does flood in parts.

"Belize City on an average is right at sea level and when the tide is high and we have rain like this we will have some flooding. I think the residents of Belize City accept that. What they did not accept in the past is that when the rain has stopped, after two or three days, their yards and streets and stuff were still flooded. That is not happening anymore."

ha... glad you think so... Sometimes I'm a special klutz!

We rode our Harleys Saturday to see two guys playing at a place called Duke's Roadhouse.. it's a new place about 30 miles from here... bar and restaurant.

It rained really hard and when we were coming home, our driveway is dirt and it was muddy and slick and down I went again! This is the second time I've been down on my bike. Don was pretty upset and said he wanted me to sell it because he's afraid I'm going to get hurt real bad someday and I'm also scratching up my beautiful bike pretty bad.

I told him I wasn't ready to sell it yet and it's my bike anyway!

He apologized and said he just hates to see me go down on it. One of my neighbors saw it too and she came flying over here to see if I was ok. I am.. just sore...and bruised... again!

So yesterday we rode to the hardware store and as I was coming into our driveway, I felt it slipping and sliding, so I stopped it and asked Don to ride it the rest of the way for me. I hate our driveway!!!

We just got new stage lights.. spent part of the weekend setting them up.. it was a lot of work.. cost us over $1,000.00 for the lights but will make our show better. We had 4 lights and now we have 20 lights. It's cool!

Interesting, Theresa. We don't like hearing about your getting bruised up. I won't really fully suggest that maybe your husband is right tho. But I'll partially suggest it.

I keep telling him it's our driveway! First time it was the gravel and this time it was mud... he was slipping and sliding too but managed to stay up. I was only about a foot off the road when I slid in the mud and gravel. It was messy! I should've just stopped and waited and had him park it for me.

I'm fine on the highway and in traffic... it's our driveway that has it in for me! LOL!

Bikerbettyboop
07-10-2006, 12:21 PM
the scarey thing is that it's the second time I dropped it in the last 3 times I've ridden. Yesterday when I felt it slipping and sliding, I managed to get it stopped and had Don park her for me. I hate that out of control feeling and when I've gone down it's been fast.
