There aren't many basements here in Arizona. In fact, I've never lived in a house with a basement. But I think it would be nice! I bet yours is nice. Is it like your family room? I know some people fix theirs up and others more or less use it for storage.

Hi Sally.. I'm so glad you got to spend a nice day with your girls fishing yesterday.. it does sound like a lot of fun. Did you all catch anything?
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:15 AM
Hi Biker!! We caught some blue gill, perch, bass, and Mike caught a pretty big cat fish right before we left... It was a really nice day
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:16 AM
You dont have many basements out there? Everyone has a basement out here, Ours is a family room... some our soo old you cant really fix them up...

Sally that sounds like you caught some nice fish... did your girls catch some? I haven't had cat fish in a 100 years! We used to fish at Lake Havasu in Arizona when I was a kid and I remember catching blue gill... we kids thought it was fun cause they put up a fight... LOL!! My dad used to catch cat fish.. but you gotta be careful with them but they sure are good when cooked right. My dad would pan fry them.

Having spent time in Ohio (mine and my husband's family all came from Ohio), I remember the basements. We used to play hide and seek in my great grandmother's basement when we were kids. She had tons of old stuff in there. Sometimes we'd get into her cellar but I didn't like it cause one of my cousins found a snake in there once and it was too dark and smelled musty.... the basement smelled too as I remember... funny.. I hadn't thought about those memories in a long long time!!
I have been in houses though with basements that were part of the living space of the house and some of them are really really nice!!
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:25 AM
Yep, the girls both caught some, they were little, so we threw them all back, but it was a lot of fun, I think the kids just like to cast-ha ha
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:26 AM
Yes, ours is set up like a family room. I'm here right now-thats where the computer is-- I took the computer room when I moved in
Bikerbettyboop
06-16-2006, 10:37 AM
That sounds really nice Sally! My husband's computer is in our music room and my computer is actually my business computer here in my shop. But my shop is only a few steps away from my house.... next to the garage... we are thinking about building another building to either use as another garage or build the shop bigger... not sure which we're going to do.. everything is so darned expensive but we are outgrowing the garage and the business!!
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:43 AM
That sounds nice- at least you dont have to travel far for work!!
Bikerbettyboop
06-16-2006, 10:46 AM
I always enjoyed taking my son fishing and you're right, I think they like playing at fishing as much as they actually like catching a fish. My son had a Mickey Mouse fishing outfit and he thought he was "hot stuff" with that rod and reel. He sure was cute back then... but now he's all grown up and not as cute anymore LOL!!
And it is nice to be able to walk to work... that was part of the reason we bought this land was because it was on the old highway and we could build both our house and our business here too. My husband still works and he keeps asking me when I'm going to become rich enough to support both of us... I laugh at him when he says that!! He does help with the business but I can't afford to pay him what he makes as an engineer!! LOL!!
Sally77
06-16-2006, 10:50 AM
thats cute, the girls have barbie fishing poles...
Do you have a store store, or are you just online?

06-16-2006, 11:10 AM
hhahah BBoop480.. cute shark!!
I haven't been fishing in a 100 years... fished as a kid and when my son was young but not since my son got tired of fishing. My husband and I are not into fishing or hunting... we'd rather ride motorcycles and play music.
Sally77
06-16-2006, 11:12 AM

I cant really believe its summer all ready! The weather here has been really odd. its been like maybe 75-80. We've only been in the pool twice. This weekend is Jefferson Days-its like a street fair-so it will most likely rain. It always rains for events--Jefferson Days-- Our county fair is here...
richard kolasch
06-22-2006, 03:48 PM

Bikerbettyboop
06-30-2006, 11:55 AM

Sally77
06-30-2006, 11:56 AM
I didnt go. The kids werent here- so I just stayed home. Could hear the bands at night. That was nice. Not too much to do there eat fair food-
Bikerbettyboop
06-30-2006, 12:46 PM
Sounds like it was enjoyable at a distance since you could hear the bands. Sometimes that nicer than actually being there fighting the crowds.
Doesn't Ohio have a lot of fairs during the summer?
Sally77
06-30-2006, 12:48 PM
Every county has a fair usually in August
Jefferson days is every Year about the same time
Next town over has an ox roast every Year in June
We have a Strawberry Festival in June
Theres always stuff to do around here if you look...
Bikerbettyboop
06-30-2006, 12:56 PM
Sounds like a lot of things to do.. just take your choice. Don't you just love summer? I'd love to be there for the strawberry festival... think I'd pass on the ox roast though...
Sally77
06-30-2006, 12:58 PM
Ha Ha The ox roast is similar to jefferson days-friday through sunday they have bands at night, little pagents for the kids, kid games, the beer wagon, and just go out and visit with your friends.
Bikerbettyboop
06-30-2006, 01:09 PM
Do they really roast an ox or is that just what they call the fair?
Sally77
06-30-2006, 01:23 PM
I they have something turning on a big fire all night. It might be ox? pig?
Bikerbettyboop
07-01-2006, 07:05 PM
Probably a pig?
Bikerbettyboop

When my dad lived in Torrance, he was about 10 miles from the ocean and he had a pool and I do remember it was warm enough during the summer for us to swim in his pool at night.
But I don't remember swimming in the ocean much at night... water was too cold for me.

bettyboopfan
07-18-2006, 04:27 PM
I think I need to plant some cacti here at my place. That is the only thing that will probably survive in this heat and drought.
Bikerbettyboop
07-19-2006, 10:10 AM
Cacti are meant to be looked at and not handled.... too many stickers to be handled. Lowell is right... don't over take care of them.
