I have always used Hydrogen Peroxide, especially as a quick mouthwash
before my "real" mouthwash. My dentist told me the other day if
everyone's teeth and gums looked as good as mine, he wouldn't have any business.
The Health Benefits of Peroxide
I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little old bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors won't
tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars.
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle)
and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it
when I bathe or shower) No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter
without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free
of germs.
3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and
leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe or
spray it on the counters.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to
kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture
of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let
dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes
several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal
with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Put two capfuls into a douche to prevent yeast infections. I had
chronic yeast infections until I tried this once or twice a week.
8. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and
keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system
like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
9. Tilt your head back and spray into your nostrils with a 50/50
mixture whenever you have a cold or plugged sinus's. It will bubble and help
to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, then blow your nose into tissue.
10. If you have a terrible toothache and can not get to a dentist
right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten
minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
11. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the
50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You
will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but
more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty
blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.
12. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils,
fungus, or other skin infections.
13. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of
whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour
directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit f or a minute, then rub it
and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
14. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, there is no smearing,
which is why I love it so much for this.
It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner!

I told this one to a lady friend here in Belize. She has a 6 year old who has a boil right on the buttock! She says it is really helping to open the wound and cause draining.
Ouch! Those things can relly be bothersome. They come up in some of the darndest places on the body...eh?

my sentiments exactly.
Many times...I removed fever from my sons' bodies through their feet by mixing a flour, vinegar and water paste THICK. I used a tough brown paper bag to cut out their foot sizes...applied the paste under each foot and attached the cut out paper bag...then pulled on a sock to each foot. As the flower dried-HARD to the paper cut out...it withdrew the fever from their bodies. I enforced liquids of course. After fever gone...throw paper cut-outs and hardened paste into trash. Socks into soiled clothing basket.
Next patient!!

It sounds like you must be in good shape... I feel like I am too most of the time but a week ago I dropped my motorcycle in some loose gravel and was pinned under it and I have injured my ribs and lung and muscles....still real sore. Yesterday I rode my 1941 Ford tractor and that didn't help.. today I am very sore.

WOW!! A lot took place in this one sentence. How do you drop a motorcycle?
Why is it in l-o-o-s-e gravel?
Hope the soreness goes away. Have you tried massages at Mr. BBB's Massage Parlour? or sitting in tubs or epsom salt as warm as you can stand it?

We were coming home from a long day's ride with some friends and our driveway is gravel. I was following Don and I was just careless and not paying enough attention and hit some loose rocks and down I went. Fortunately, he was there to lift the bike off me but I was hurting for sure. Didn't damage my bike much... hurt myself more than the bike.
I've been using hot corn bags on my ribs and back... it's just going to take time to heal. And it's always longer when you're older to bounce back.

Is this really so? My boyfriend is terrified of the dentist, and he *really* has to go, he has 2 rotten teeth. But he's just too affraid to go. He's in therapy for it now, but it will take a while before he 's ready to go. So does this really help? It will make a perfect temporary solution!

Maybe I termed it incorrectly. Mouth washes are usually for killing bacteria but what I'm thinking of are washes that help with sore mouths like:
UlcerEase Pain Relief Mouthwash
Betacell ... For temporary relief of minor discomfort and protection of irritated areas in either a sore mouth
Oasis Mouthwash and Mouth Spray for Dry Mouth from Sensodyne ...
To name just a few....

10eke...it can't hurt to try...right? I have never experienced this peroxide as a tooth ache pain reliever. Husby said he used it in the military and many other times before getting to the dentist. Tell him to give it a try!
I DO use it as a mouthwash (twice daily) occasionally after brushing my teeth.

Share this article with me. I am one who lives in the water. Hair is washed sometimes twice...if not three times daily. Someone I know told me a few days ago that (she had heard) keeping your hair wet too much was definitely damaging to the hair shaft. I sought information and this is what I came across. I've been swimming and taking showers or just throwing water over my head for years! Here goes!
Everyone has a favourite myth about hair care – and we usually never let the truth get in the way of a good legend! This article examines some of the most widely known - and the reality behind the myths.
1. Excessive washing of hair causes hair loss/dryness.
FALSE: Frequency of washing doesn’t harm hair. Wash it as often as you like, although the recommendation is three times a week. The right shampoo for your hair type and texture will actually add moisture, body and beauty to your hair.
2. More shampoo = cleaner hair.
FALSE: Don’t waste your shampoo! A dollop of shampoo, about the size of a quarter is usually enough for long hair. Very long hair may take a little more.
3. Conditioner helps repair split ends.
FALSE: No conditioner can "repair" damaged hair. What it can do is smooth down the cuticle and make hair seem in better condition. A good conditioner can also prevent damage from occurring in the first place.
4. Blow-drying produces hair loss.
FALSE: Blow-drying can damage, burn or dry hair, which can cause it to fall, but the hair will grow back immediately. This is not permanent hair loss.
5. Sleeping with wet hair causes scalp fungus.
FALSE: Scalp or fungal diseases can’t be caught from sleeping with wet scalps. Scalp infections require prior involvement with infected sources such as humans, tainted hair care tools or animals. Scalp fungus (tinea capitis) mainly affects children, whose immune systems make them more susceptible to skin infections.
6. To get your hair to grow, brush 100 strokes each day.
FALSE: Brushing that much can damage the hair cuticle. NOT recommended! Actually, your hair reacts better to a comb than a brush. Brushing it will only lead to split ends and hair breakage.
7. Sharing combs and brushes can spread scalp diseases.
TRUE: Lice and other parasites can be transported from scalp to scalp through the sharing of combs, brushes and other hair care tools.
8. Cutting hair makes it grow faster and/or thicker.
FALSE: This common misconception comes from the fact that hair is thicker at the base than it is at the tip, so shorter hair appears thicker at first. Cutting your hair does not affect its normal biologically determined growth rate or overall texture. Thin, limp or fine hair will not ever grow thicker in response to a haircut. Plump up your hair by using volume enhancing hair care products, experimenting with a hair fattening blunt cut or getting a texturizing perm or color treatment.
9. Color treatment causes hair loss.
FALSE: Most hair coloring products contain chemicals that can do serious harm to the hair itself if not properly used, but it wont instigate hair loss.
10. Salon products are identical to drugstore products.
FALSE: Although there are exceptions, salon products generally contain higher quality, more expensive ingredients that are designed to consistently provide more intensive cleansing, moisturizing and conditioning results. The quality ingredients found in salon products are not usually found in drugstore brands. If in doubt – read the labels.
11. Long sun exposure favors hair loss.
FALSE: Your hair acts as a shield against the sun. Hair loss appears at the follicle level and so the sun would have to penetrate at this depth to do any damage.
12. Diet is related to hair loss.
TRUE: it's important to eat right in order to be generally healthy. However, no individual food has been proven to be beneficial or detrimental to hair.
13. Stress causes hair loss.
TRUE: Severe stress (e.g. surgery or a death in the family), can shut down hair production, causing temporary hairloss (alopecia areata). The scalp usually recuperates, though, and hair grows back
14. Wearing tight braids, ponytails or buns causes baldness.
TRUE: Traction alopecia is a very real hair loss condition that is quite common amongst older African American women. It results from wearing tight ponytails, cornrows or buns over an extended period of time. Over time, hair breakage or loss as the result of tight, stressed styles, can become permanent. Avoid this potential problem by opting for looser styles that minimize scalp tension.
15. Smoking causes gray hair.
TRUE: According to J. G. Mosley of the Leigh Infirmary in Lancashire, England in an article in Science News (January 11, 1997) smokers are four times more likely to have gray hair than non-smokers. Even worse, smoking has been conclusively linked to accelerated hair loss.

Gray Hair at 29
Doctors say premature graying is genetically determined for the most part. That means that when more than half the hair is white by age 40, this is considered premature. Although, graying is natural. We all do it eventually. The simple way to explain it: eventually your hair follicles stop producing pigment to keep your hair color and you go colorless, slowly with gray and then eventually white. Premature graying has been associated with certain medical conditions such as thyroid disorders, vitamin B12 deficiency, and anemia. Basically, if you look around your family and see a lot of gray, you may be headed in that direction.

Did you know that all that abundant sunshine in the summer can cause dry skin and hair, eye damage, and other ailments? Fortunately, summer also brings an abundance of tasty and nutritious foods, including berries (loaded with antioxidants), tomatoes, sweet bell peppers (good vitamin C source), and protein-filled grilled fish and burgers. And by simply choosing the right ones to add to your daily diet, you can help prevent or alleviate the following common hot-weather conditions. For instance, to alleviate dry skin, eat berries. Or to help with dry hair, toss some burgers or shrimp kabobs on the grill..the added protein will help put moisture back into your hair.

Wow!!There is a reason to have Vodka in your house!
VODKA
Now they tell us...............if we had only known before............Well, who knew!!!!
1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves adhesive.
2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean. The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew.
3. To clean your eyeglasses, ! simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs.
4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.
5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry.
6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.
7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.
8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them.
9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Ziploc freezer bag. Freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes.
10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in t he sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains.
11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.
12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.
13. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.
14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin.
15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.

Some Effective home Remedies are:
Ingredients: Clove
Instructions: Place a whole clove between the aching tooth and your cheek. It can be held in place by holding your finger on the outside of the cheek. Chew the cloves a little to release their juice, then leave them in place for half an hour or so or until the pain subsides.
Ingredients: Salt
Instructions: Combine two tablespoons of salt with one cup of boiling water; take a mouthful of water as hot as possible and slosh it around your mouth near the tooth; repeat as necessary.
Ingredients: Peroxide
Instructions: Rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the infections causing the toothache.
Ingredients: Alcohol (vodka)
Instructions: Dip finger in alcohol. Rub on tooth or put on a small piece of cotton and leave on tooth.

Yes it is. Happens ALL too often.
CA 125 Test for Ovarian Cancer
Type: Urban Legend
Description:
This email is making rounds claiming that the CA 125 test is most effective in detecting the initial stages of ovarian and peritoneal cancer. It also implies that this test has been kept from the public and further advocates that it should be used as an essential screening test for suspected cancer cases.
Findings by health institutions, including the American Cancer Society, however, suggests that this test is not entirely reliable. It falsely detects cancer during menstruation and in other cases as well.
Although this test may be done together with other diagnostic tests, it cannot be relied upon solely as a primary screening test for cancer.

Herbs for the Feet
A wonderful footbath for tired, aching feet can be made by infusing mugwort, mint, rosemary, lavender or marigold petals into boiling water, allowing it to cool until warm then soak your feet in it.
A simple cooling footpowder can be made by powdering dried peppermint leaves in a vitamiser and adding some precipitated chalk (from your chemist).

EFFECTIVE DEODORANTS
Fed up paying big bucks for commercial products, then try baking soda. Mix two parts of cornstarch to one part baking soda. Best if used right after bathing. OK, still in the kitchen? Try cutting up a big cucumber that's high in magnesium and an effective natural deodorant. So is plain old vinegar. Its high alcohol content will destroy bacteria that causes unpleasant orders. Don't worry, that vinegar smell goes away in about twenty minutes to half an hour.

MINOR BRUISES, SPRAINS, BANGS, PAINS
Forget about beefsteaks, apply ice or anything that's really cold. No ice? Try a package of frozen vegetables. Give it a few bangs with a hammer to shape into a useful shape. Many people suggest adding a grated onion and potato to a bowl of warm water for soaking your sore hand or foot. Pro athletes use the potato trick to relive minor swelling and soreness of injured fingers. Simply cut a large enough hole in the potato, plunge in your sore digit, and watch the starch in the potato do the trick.
Got a headache? Cut out a small piece of a regular brown paper bag of the type you bring home the groceries in. Dip in vinegar (white vinegar seems to work better) and place on forehead Your minor headache should be gone shortly! One off-beat remedy that may work at times simply requires that you flail your arms vigorously for several minutes. Most headaches are caused by constriction of blood vessels inside your head. By moving your arms as described, you reduce some blood flow, and may reduce swelling of affected vessels that give you the headache in the first place. Stop if you feel any discomfort, increased pain or get light-headed.

PET TIPS
Pets have problems too. Here's a few quick tips for common problems. A lot of dogs develop a flea problem. try rubbing on garlic power - no more fleas. If Fido seem to have a severe itching problem try using a little apple cider vinegar on the affected spot. Diarrhea? Try a teaspoon full of carob powder mixed with his food. Worms? Garlic again. In fact, most dogs love the taste of garlic, and if you look at the label of many manufacturers pet foods you'll find it listed in ingredients! Bad Breath? Give your pouch a sprig or two of parsley mixed in his food. When you give your dog a bath, add a few tablespoons of baking soda to both the bath and rinse water to give a shiny bright coat. If you have a long-haired dog that's shedding, rub a little olive oil a couple of times a week. A cat's litter box will smell fresh if you add a box of baking soda. Fur balls pass easier if your pet has roughage. Can't get him to eat dry cat food? Try mixing a little liquid from a can of tuna fish.

What's a uric acid test ?
Neckless
07-11-2006, 09:20 PM
This is a blood test that measures the amount of uric acid.
This test is performed to detect elevated uric acid levels. Increased levels of uric acid can cause gout.
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism (purines are building blocks of RNA and DNA). Most uric acid produced in the body is excreted by the kidneys. An overproduction of uric acid occurs when there is excessive breakdown of cells, which contain purines, or an inability of the kidneys to excrete uric acid.

*Do take a daily multivitamin if you don't eat well, or if you smoke or drink alcohol (behaviors which can increase your nutritional needs.) Though it's best to change unhealthy behaviors, getting select nutrients in pill form is better than not getting them at all, or getting less than you need.
*The best vitamins are in the produce aisle. Most adults don't need to take multivitamins or supplements at all, as long as they're eating well. By eating a plant-based diet, with plenty of whole grains and at least five fruits and vegetables a day, you'll get the nutrients you need, plus cancer-preventing phytochemicals and other helpful natural compounds that you won't find in a pill.

To Improve Sleep:
1. Sprinkle just-washed sheets and pillowcases with lavender water. The scent has been shown in studies to promote relaxation, which can lead to better sleep.
2. Buy a new pillow. Katz says that studies show that pillows with an indent in the center can enhance sleep quality and reduce neck pain. Also, try a "cool" pillow -- one containing either all-natural fibers or a combination of sodium sulfate and ceramic fibers that help keep your head cool.
3. Eat a handful of walnuts before bed. You'll be giving yourself a boost of fiber and essential fatty acids along with the amino acid tryptophan -- a natural sleep-inducer.

To Improve Stress Control:
1. Give your partner a hug every day before work. Studies show this simple act can help you remain calm when chaos ensues during your day, Katz says.
2. Have a good cry. It can boost your immune system, reduce levels of stress hormones, eliminate depression, and help you think more clearly.
3. Twice a day, breathe deeply for three to five minutes

I believe in the partner hug... that's great.. my hubby and I always kiss and hug each other before we part and again when we meet.
Remember those good old "dating days" when you felt so attracted to your boyfriend or girlfriend? Can't let those feelings get away!
My husband and I go by the addage that we put each other first in our lives together. Not the kids... not our parents.. not our jobs.. nothing.. each other comes first! I know that a lot of people don't feel that way and that's why there are so many divorces and unhappy relationships.

Toothbrush Sanitizing
A dentist suggested: Instead of replacing a newer toothbrush when a family member is ill, stick it in your dishwasher and clean it along with your dishes. The hot, sudsy water will sanitize the toothbrush without destroying it.

Also great for acne... just put a dab on the inflicted area before you go to sleep and it dries out the sore. Should be gone the next day.
It's also good to use for a facial scrub... be careful though and don't scrub too hard!!

Certified Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized and 5% acidity. Contains the amazing Mother of Vinegar which occurs naturally as strand-like chains of connected protein molecules. (If sediment occurs, shake before using.)
Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is made from the finest organic apples. Organically grown, processed and bottled in accordance with the California Organic Foods Act of 1990, this product is also Kosher Certified. Full of zesty natural goodness, it's a wholesome way to add delicious, light flavor to most foods, salads, etc.
Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, in 400 BC treated his patients with natural apple cider vinegar for its powerful cleansing, healing and germ fighting qualities.
INTERNAL BENEFITS:
Rich in enzymes &potassium, Natural antibiotic germ fighter, Fights E Coli and other bacteria, Helps control and normalize weight, Helps improve digestion assimilation, Helps relieve arthritis stiffness, Helps relieve dry sore throats, Helps remove body, sludge toxins
EXTERNAL BENEFITS:
Helps maintain healthy skin, Helps promote youthful, healthy bodies, Soothes pain of sunburn, Helps prevent dandruff, itching
scalp, baldness Soothes tight aching joints, sore muscles
Pasteurization:
Is the heating process intended to remove potential problem bacteria from consumable liquids such as milk, juices etc. However the heat process of pasteurization will also remove delicate nutrients and enzymes that may constitute a major portion of the nutritional value of that food.
In the case of Bragg's Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, pasteurization would eliminate the "mother", a major health-giving factor of our vinegar. The strands of complex proteins constitute important delicate enzymes that are a major part of Bragg ACV's health properties.
E Coli and other harmful bacteria:
Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, unlike juices or ciders, CONTAINS NO SUGARS which would be the growth medium for potentially harmful bacteria such as E Coli. Additionally the high acidic nature of ACV assures that none of these bacteria could exist or propagate.

Water Works for Weight Loss
Nothing quells the appetite like water, lots and lots of water. Start out with two quart bottles in the morning and carry one with you to work or wherever you go. If you like, divvy up the 64 ounces of water into eight (8-ounce) bottles or four pint (16-ounce) bottles to carry around with you all day. Freeze half of them the night before and they will last all day, even in a hot car. Keep some unfrozen so they will be ready to drink immediately.
Yes. You will have to make more frequent bathroom trips, but it is worth it. Drink your 64 ounces of water before dinner, if possible, so you're not up half the night going to the bathroom.
Water not only fills you up and lessens your appetite, it prevents those "hungry horrors" we all encounter when our blood sugar drops and we reach for cookies, candy, ice cream, fries or other high-calorie treats. Water also flushes out the system, rids the body of bloat and toxins and rosies up the complexion. Now, start splashing.

High blood pressure
High blood pressure increases your chance (or risk) for getting heart disease and/or kidney disease, and for having a stroke. It is especially dangerous because it often has no warning signs or symptoms. Regardless of race, age, or gender, anyone can develop high blood pressure. It is estimated that one in every four American adults has high blood pressure. Once high blood pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime. You can prevent and control high blood pressure by taking action.

Epsom Salts
Epsom salts are often used to cleanse and exfoliate the skin, making it soft and invigorated. They also has been used by many to ease sore and stiff muscles.
Supplies:
1 cup Epsom salts
Water
Towel or sheet (optional)
Shower
Directions:
Pour one cup of Epsom salts into a small bowl, adding just enough water to make a paste. This is a messy job, so after you undress stand over a towel or sheet, or simply stand in the shower instead (without the water running). Smooth a thin layer of the paste onto your skin over your entire body. If you have a partner who can help, that's great, but if not then cover as much of yourself as you can. Wait until the mixture has dried; it forms a white film. Then shower or, better yet, soak in a warm bath and let the salt help ease your sore and tired muscles, too! Do not use soap to wash off the salt, as you may clog your pores.
You will be amazed at how soft and smooth your skin will feel. I do this following a hydrogen peroxide bath.
Caution:
Irritation will occur if you have any open wounds or have recently shaved.
Other Uses:
To rid your hair of hairspray and other buildup, combine one gallon distilled water, one cup lemon juice, and one cup Epsom salts. Seal the mixture and let stand for 24 hours. Work the mixture into your dry hair and let sit for 20 minutes, then shower and shampoo hair as usual.
To add body, restore your hair's natural beauty, or add life to your hair, try this. Combine equal parts of conditioner and Epsom salts. Place in the microwave for 20 seconds. Work the mixture immediately through your dry hair. Let stand for 20 minutes, then shower and rinse off.
For a cleansing bath, just add 2 cups Epsom salts, sit back and enjoy.

Does it use less water to take a bath or a shower?
You Use Less Energy Taking a Shower Than a Bath.
This is sometimes a myth, but it is sometimes true. It depends on your shower head and whether it has a flow restrictor in it and how long you shower.

Finding your way safely through the increasingly complex health care jungle is never easy, especially if you are sick. It can be a tricky and pressure-filled business, but there are ways to protect yourself.
The most important thing to recognize is that ultimately you and you alone are responsible for managing your own health.
Getting the most out of health care services requires you to be active and vocal in all aspects of health care. You need to see yourself as a customer who is purchasing services from health care providers. Being prepared and having faith in your life experience and your common sense will help you avoid feeling intimidated by places and providers who may appear cold and distant.
Health care providers are not free of the common negative stereotypes of disability which cause the discrimination, environmental and attitudinal barriers that people with disabilities encounter daily. People working in medical settings reinforce these stereotypes, often because they are only exposed to people with disabilities who are indeed sick. In addition, medical students report there is practically nothing taught about disability during their four years in medical school.

People just love to have titles. However, sometimes we can get carried away because too many letters after a name is confusing. So what do you do? In professional journals a person's credentials are very important. For the average patient a set of six initials behind a name doesn't mean much.

1. Get plenty of rest.
2. Drink plenty of fluids. **** on an ice cube or flavored ice, or drink iced fruit juice or chilled clear broth.
3. Dress lightly and keep the room temperature between 70 and 74 degrees F. Use a blanket if you feel cold.
4. Take anti-fever medicines only when necessary. For children under 18 years old, use acetaminophen or ibuprofen. For adults, use acetaminophen, aspirin or ibuprofen.
5. Give a child a lukewarm sponge bath for a temperature higher than 102 degrees F, but wait 30 minutes if you have given her acetaminophen. Wipe the child with a lukewarm washcloth or place her in a lukewarm tub for 20 minutes, then dry her thoroughly and check her temperature. If it is lower than 102 degrees F, don't continue with the lukewarm baths. If the child is shivering, warm up the water by a few degrees for the next bath.
6. Know your medications. Some drug allergies cause fevers. If you suspect that one of your prescription medications may be causing a fever, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
7. Spread lip balm or petroleum jelly over the lips during the fever and for several days thereafter, since lips often crack and split during a fever.
Tips:
A fever of 103 degrees F is not unusual in a young child. For adults, a fever higher than 101 degrees F or a fever that is greater than 101 degrees F at its onset is cause for medical attention.
Ice packs can be placed in the groin and armpit areas when an adult has a very high fever, but consult your doctor first.
Warnings:
Call your doctor or emergency room if a high fever is accompanied by a stiff neck, difficulty breathing, confusion, lethargy, delirium or convulsions, or a cough with colored sputum.
Never use alcohol for a rubdown. The fumes are toxic, and alcohol is absorbed through the skin. Use lukewarm water.

The reason rubbing alcohol feels cold is because it absorbs energy more quickly than water. It's still at ambient temperature but can absorb your body heat readily.

I bet that must really be heartbreaking.
Have you heard about the pregnant lady in Phoenix who had ****** cancer and she died on Aug. 8th but is being kept alive so that they can deliver her baby girl sometime in October? Read about it in the newspaper yesterday. What a story!

Here's the story if anyone is interested.
I'd say this would qualify as this mother's ultimate gift to her child.

Wow. That is a sad story. I can't imagine having to go through something like that.
