The seller is handmaking these using NJ Croce keychains! Here's the statement in the auction:

*** Note: This is not a licensed King Features item. It is, however, handcrafted with licensed King Features material. Switchplateplanet is not affiliated with King Features in any way. Please note that while all copyrighted materials used in SwitchPlatePlanet designs belong to their respective copyright owners, our craft designs are the original, protected work of SwitchPlatePlanet and may not be reproduced. ***

Can they do that?

I don't think they are supposed to... but it's not for me to decide.. I just report what I see if I think it is suspicious.

It's the old question - Does something made with licensed, legitimate Betty Boop material need to be re-licensed before it can be sold? Previously it was t-shirts, now it's switchplates.

I don't know the answer. I wish I did.

I think that when something is made for resale from an already licensed item, it still needs to be approved for resale by King Features and that will require licensing. I may be wrong but I think that's how it should work.
