I did not start collecting or EVEN knew who BB was until I was in my early 20's. A friend of mine ask me if I was named after her, for my name is Betty. I didn't know what she was talking about. So she found me a cartoon clipping of bb serving cereal with champagne. That just started off the collection. It has been really wild being named Betty. My children when they were little used to watch my bb videos and ask me when I made the movies, they REALLY thought I was bb. That used to make me giggle. My sons are great artists so they have had me a lot of drawings of bb but the one that is the closet to my heart is my Homemade Clock of bb made by my son when he was in Middle School. I was working at his school and he told everyone, even the staff not to tell me. He did say that was pretty hard for everyone to do but they did it. I was in tears when he gave it to me at school, what a gift. All my friends and family members contribute to my collection. One night I was having dinner and some lady who noticed my bb shirt. She asked me if I were a collector of bb and asked me to come to her motel room for she had something for me. Now, Normally I NEVER go anywhere with a stranger so I had a friend go with me. When we got to the room, this lady, pulled out of her suitcase a pin. This pin is our sweet bb in her red dress being shy but what makes this pin sooooooo cool is that this was used as the official mascot of the International Lions Club of the previous year. I just leaped out of my skin when she gave this to me, only because I collect bb. How cool could that be!!!!! I have gotten addresses from other Betty's but never contacted them. I hope that these were interesting for the contest!!! :) :D :P :o Betty

I first got in2 BB when i was about 9 years old! a young fan! :D

i went to Scotland for a holiday and found a nurse betty badge. i fell in love with it the minute i saw it! later that day we were in a high street when we went in an old jazz shop. on a postcard rack was a postcard of betty boop! i bought it straight away!;) :P

When i noticed the name of the character (BB) i searched her on the internet and found out more about her!!

a few years later we went back to the same place to find the jazz shop was still there! i went inside to find alot more pictures of bb!

My most favorite BB story is about my grandson. When he was just over 2 years old my son and daughter-in-law went away for the weekend and left Grandma in charge. Well, I found a little card that was to be mailed for some BB thing (Christmas was right around the corner) so I started showing him the card and telling him it was "Betty Boop". After a couple of days he knew exactly who it was. When my son & daughter-in-law returned home, I got the little card and showed it to my grandson and when asked 'who's this' he promptly responded (in his cute little 2 year old voice) BETTY BOOP! My son's eye's just about fell out of his head!!! To this day he know's BB and will find BB anywhere and MUST buy it for 'Grandma'....I've also taught him all the names of the Beatles!!! Good job, G'ma!

well im only a new betty boop fan and have only really been into betty boop for about 1 or 2 years, which is nothing compared to some of you other boopers here and so i dont really have that many interesting stories,
but i do vaguely remember my first encounter with betty boop as a young child, my mum used to think betty boop was cute and so used to buy me videos and little plastic betty boop figurines. i never really paid much notice to them and used to always prefere reading books and watching programs on tv that were advanced for my age, toys, cartoons and betty boop never really had a chance, bb ended up getting pushed aside :( as she never really appealed to me as a child.
i think my mum hoped that buying me betty boop stuff and other toys would encourage me to enjoy my child hood and take my time as a kid instead of being so interested in books and education but it never really worked.
now all these years later when im at the age where i should be keen to read books and concentrate on doing well in school i find my self totally out of the blue re-discovering betty boop, and now i live sleep and breath her, im totaly obsessed as any 1 who knows me will tell you. At the moment im doing my exams but often find my self gettin distracted from revision with thoughts of betty and always end up coming online to chek the latest news lol its funny how things change!
strange thing is i dont even remember what it was that suddenly got me interested in betty boop after all these years it was totaly out the blue, who knows maybe she did have an effect on me as a child without me even relising, after all we all know how mezmorizin and addictive betty is!!
im just glad i redescoverd betty coz without her id be very different to the way i am now, im just confused as to y i didnt fall in love with her at 1st sight..lol maybe i was a dopey baby!!
awwww... it just upsets me to think that i was introduced to betty boop all that tym ago and didnt even care!! u can also imagine how i must feel to know that my mum gave away all my first ever betty boop items all that time ago because i had neglected them even though i know i would of cherished them if i had them today! o well it doesnt matter anymore because im happy knowing betty boop now and am keen to build up my collection so that i can make up 4 lost tym!!!

DEADPOOL

I'll admit it now, im not really a collector of Betty Boop, But i love the character sooooooo much!!, if i had the extra cash i would definately buy stuff, but the thing is Boopsie-Cola would steal them off me!

Anyhow my first encouter with Betty Boop was years ago watching Bravo channel on the satelite system. ( we dont have satelite anymore :( )
Anyhow i dont know why i sat and watched it and negelected shows like Teenage Muatnt Ninja Turtles! LOL, but i did. That channel was the only way i know i was famliar with the character and then i saw her on 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' which got her noticed by me again. Although subconsiously i loved the character, i was into Two other things Ghostbusters and then i moved on to a character called Deadpool, which i have an unhealthy obsesion with!
Anyway thats how i remember knowing BettyBoop, until i met someone rather interesting indeed......

Her name is Besma, you all know her as Boopsie-Cola.
Well i met her in high school about 1 and 1/2 years ago. We started off so well, we got on so well i felt like she was more than just a great friend to me and so i did the unthinkable and risked the loss of friendship as is the case in most cases and broke the question to her.
LOL, i think it came out like this,

ME - "erm.....will you...i mean i kinda...."
Boopsie-Cola - "is there something you wanna ask me?"
ME - "yeah will you go out with me?"
Boopsie-Cola - "Yeah...."

I think i pounced on her after that and kissed her lol!

Anyhow around three month's in after lots of hit and misses, we got sooooooooo close, and it was only a matter of time before i would have to tell her about my little secret. I didn't wanna but i knew i would have to otherwise i wouldnt have been totally honest.
Anyhow we went into central London, for the day. And there it was the comic shop, we went in. I was thinking wether or not to tell her but i decided to pass and blame the sudden urge to go into the comic shop at the age of 16, on the recent realese of Spider-man the movie. I just didnt feel like i was ready to tell her i was a collector of comics. (lol, what did ya think my little secret was)

So another month went by, and we was sat in the localpark. Then for some apparent reason, only the masses of the cosmos know why i decided to do this but i came out with every little detail of my comic collecting hobbies and told her all about my obsession with Deadpool.
~{WARNING, about the following piece of text, read at your own risk}~
Thats when Boopsie-Cola, lifted her skirt and flashed me, i was well and truly shocked, and didnt realise why she did it. I thought she had gone mad. Then she explained that she had an obsession with Betty Boop, and that her knickers had a picture of Betty Boop on them, thats when i realised what i had just seen a picture of.............so me being a fool asked her to flash again, denying that i had just seen the picture.
I guess i deserved the slap, which came next.

Later after further discusion we, both realised we were even more alike as we both had an obsession with a character, which was freaky at first but a nice thought later on.
I soon discovered Boopsie-Cola's newly begun collection of Betty Boop merchandise and loved it all, with a 10 on the jealousy factor!
Since then I started to fall more and more in love with Betty, esspecially the Biker Betty!! And thats what brought me to this Web-site.

Hope i didnt bore you guys too much, but thats my story of how i was re-introduced to Betty Boop.

The Betty Boop obsession started from a young age. Being as my name is Becky, my mother thought that it would be highly amusing to nickname me Becky Boop! At a young age, I found this to be most embarrassing, especially in big department stores when my mother would shout 'BOOP!' across the laungerie section! As I grew up, I became quite fond of my nickname, and once I had been introduced to the genius that is my namesake, I became proud to be a Boop!

Okay, so I know its a short story - not amusing, not particularly special, but its my story, and the reason behind my love for the legendary Betty Boop!

Hey everybody, I enjoyed reading the great stories about how you started your Betty Boop collection!!! What fun to read them all..... and this is my story....

I just turned 53 on 6/23/2003 and I first saw Betty Boop in the cartoons in the 1950's. I always liked her and I liked to sing the Betty Boop songs!!

My mom gave me a hand crafted Betty Boop doll when I was younger that I still cherish to this day. All my Betty Boop collectibles were gifts from friends and family and then in 1994 I discovered "Biker" Betty Boop when I saw a t-shirt made by NJ Croce!

And I have really been hooked ever since... to the point that I started a business geared around Biker Betty Boop!!!

I try to collect all the Biker Betty Boop I can get but I still add any classic Betty Boop items to my collection as well.

Betty Boop is the best!!!

Hello everyone, I'm a new member to this forum but I have been a secret booper for many years, but now my hobby has really started to take off. I first became interested in Ms. Boop when I saw her in a cameo appearance in the movie 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' and I have adored her ever since. My first Boop piece was a badge (pin) of Betty in one of her classic red dress poses. I was eight then and I am twenty-two now, and I still have it!
