Hi Leonard,

You might remember me contacting you several years ago concerning my plans to have a poor condition Keeneye BB figure restored but first needing some good colour pics which you ended up providing me with. Well, I'd like to report that the restoration went very well and that it was a long process, almost two years total. It took over a year to pull back the split seams in the head, base and other areas and deal with other problems such as paint bubbling etc. In a nutshell, two different people worked on the figure, one on the physical damage that was caused by poor storage and the second person to re-paint her. A good percentage of the the original paint was saved but the newer areas were patinized and blended to give the figure a more natural aged look.

Anyhow, I'm very extremely pleased with the result and feel that all the extra effort and trouble was worth it since this is such a rare piece. I'd like to share these pictures with the forum members as well being new here since first impressions count;) . I've also included some shots of my little vintage BB collection.

Thanks again for your help,

Best regards,

Konrad

Those are amazing figurines! Are you sure the black saucer like eyes are restored correctly on the hoola dancer? it seems the eyes are supposed to be like those of a pie with a slice removed in terms of the shapes of the pupils. Perhaps I'm wrong about this. If I am wrong, that makes the figurine all the more remarkable!

Other examples I have seen of the hula Betty are the same with a "full eye".

Wow, those are really great pieces you have. Glad you restored the Keeneye, I've never seen one as nice as this and I can understand why it took two years to get it done.
Congratulations and I'm grateful you took the time and effort to have it restored, to help preserve these rarities.

That's good to know. I'm pleased to understand that the artistic integrity of the figurines has been preserved. It would've been tragic if artistic licence had been taken during the restoration process. It makes me appreciate the beauty of this wondrous collection even more.

Here's an interesting use of glitter used on Betty Boop by my friend Babydoll MySpace.com at :

I was blown away when I got her back and I'm glad you and the others think she looks good as well.

I'll try to find the before pics so you can see how bad she was.

I've been trying to buy a Betty Boop bobblehead to go on the dvd shelf beside animation section. Of the ones I did find, they were quite expensive.

Yep, the bobbleheads are VERY expensive especially in good condition. They are usually made of celluloid like my wind-up hula dancer Betty.

I've seen the odd one here and there on ebay but haven't paid attention to one in a while.
