Does anyone know who sang this song other than Marilyn Monroe?
Thanks for any help.

Lots of people!

Most significantly Helen Kane. It was her theme song in 1929.

Some will also claim that Debbie Reynolds sang it in the film "Three Little Words." However, Debbie was miming. Helen was singing.

Rose Murphy and Sinead O'Connor have also issued versions, as have (I kid you not) New Kids on the Block (different lyrics).

I'm not sure if Betty Boop (or rather Mae Questal) recorded the song. I forget what Betty sung in "Stopping the Show" (the Helen Kane bit that's been cut out). I don't have my notes handy, so maybe somebody could help out.

Betty Boop impersonated Helen Kane singing "That's My Weakness Now" in Stopping the Show (1932). This section was cut out of the cartoon in 1934 for legal reasons.

I can't find any cartoon in which Betty sang "I Wanna Be Loved By You." This surprizes me.

I'd be delighted if somebody told me I was wrong.

Frank Sinatra also recorded the song.

I still have this nagging feeling that Betty Boop MUST have sung it at some time, but I can't find the cartoon. Help!

"I Wanna Be Loved by You" was a song closely identify with Betty Boop and yet she never sang that song! I guess people got Betty confused with Helen Kane and other 'Boop-Oop-A-Doop' singers of that time. Or the fact that Betty said "Boop-Oop-a-A-Doop" so many times that people start to believe that she sang at some points.

And guess what? Humphrey Bogart has never said "Play it again, Sam" in Casablanca.

And James Cagney never said "You dirty rat."

Isn't it funny how certain things get attributed to people and movies?

There was a really bad half hour Betty cartoon done around '85 or '86 for CBS in which she sang " I Wanna Be Loved By You". I forget the name of the cartoon, I just remember it was produced by Bil Melendez, the guy who did the Peanuts cartoons. Mae Questel did not do her voice. Betty never sang the song in any Fleisher cartoon.

The cartoon is "The Romance of Betty Boop". It was released in 1985.

Thanks for the title.I knew someone out there would know it. At the time, I was happy that someone was actually going to do a Betty cartoon and hopefully do more if it caught on, but not having any resemblance to the Fleisher style was disappointing .
