Was Betty Boop related to Koko the Clown? One of my Betty Boop calendars has Koko and Bimbo playing piano and singing to Betty!!

The thread you are referring to is more than likely a thread located in Mooch's area.

The cartoon that portrays Betty's parents is Minnie the Moocher. Their names aren't really given. Great cartoon, though. One of my favorites.

I agree.. It is a great cartoon!! Grampy is the only family I know of and not sure that wasn't just his nickname and not his relationship to Betty.

Betty's father is called Otto. Her mother doesn't have a name in the cartoon, which is, of course, Minnie the Moocher. It's the only cartoon where Betty's parents appear, although she does mention her mother in Dizzy Red Riding Hood.

Betty and Koko are not related.

If you seen the Betty Boop newspaper strip from the 1930's, you would know that Betty has a baby brother named Billy "Bubby" Boop and an aunt named Aunt Tillie.

But what I want to know is who was Buzzy Boop from the two Fleischer shorts Buzzy Boop 7/29/38 and Buzzy Boop at the Concert 9/16/38?

Buzzy Boop was a younger and sparkier version of Betty that was introduced in the late 1930s to boost the fading Betty Boop Cartoon image. She was probably Betty's niece, although I don't think this is ever made clear. She wasn't a sister and certainly not a daughter. Buzzy's cartoons are lost, although I did post a picture in the History of Betty Boop thread.

Betty's family life in the cartoon strips bore little resemblence to that in the cartoon animations. In the cartoons she was generally independent and alone - and sometimes lonely (for example, Betty Boop's Birthday Party).
