Yes it is a fish bowl, I have seen them before as a candle holder too.

SOmeone in my husbands family makes them.
I personally think they are ugly.

The way they make them is, they take a clay pot for a plant. Turn it upside down and put a hole in it.They get a decorative glass bowl or jar and place on top upside down and secure it together. They turn the pot and glass back over, fill it full of water, rock and whatever else, add the fish. Then cork the hole. Flip it back over and they have a homemade fish bowl.

I have seen them decorate the pots with drawings, paintings, Betty, and Harley. I personally would not want one.

I think it's ok for a gift but I don't think it's acceptable to be sold on eBay... you know what I mean?
