hey, does any one know the connection between betty boop and marilyn manroe? was betty made to imitate marilyn and look similar to her in some of her classic poses, or is that total coincidence?

Betty Boop made her debut in 1930... which means Marilyn Monroe a.k.a. Norma Jeane Baker would've been 4 years old! :D

I would say most of the poses and looks are purely coincidental, though there are a few BB products that clearly imitates MM, i.e. - the scene of BB standing over a grate.

I know that this might sound wierd but I do know that Tinker Bell (the fairy thingy from the Peter Pan movie) was modeled after Marilyn Monroe. Betty Boop came before Marilyn Monroe. I believe that Betty was placed in Marilyn's positions after MM became popular. ;) I know this because my sister worked for Disney and my Grandma is a wicked MM fan!!:)

I dont think tinkerbell was modeled after Marilyn actually snopes.com says that tink was modeled after Margaret Kerry.
Plus I heard Betty was modeled after 2 different people the first being Helen Kane and the second being Clara Bow.:D

Actually i read that Marilyn manroe was a helen kane fan, but for halloween she used to dress up as Betty Boop.

and of course marilyn used the style of betty boop proberly.

but betty boop was originally meant as a caricature of helen kane which makes you feel dizzy when thinkings whats going on??? xD

but Then clara bow comes into the picture and thats where betty boop got her style.
