View Full Version : Santa, the Easter Bunny & the Tooth Fairy!

How many of you have children who still believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny and/or the Tooth Fairy? Or at what age did you realize they didn't exist?

My daughter is 10 years old and she still believes in all of the above. My wife and I have gone to great extremes to make it believable. It's probably the last year we'll be able to get away with this! ;)

Both of my daughters still believe in all 3!

This year my oldest daughter who is 5 keeps asking me how Santa gets in the house if we don't have a chimney. I told her he knocks on the front door and we let him in. She is still not convinced that is how he gets into our house!
We try to make it very believable with the visits from all 3. It is getting harder because she is too smart for her own good. :D

We go through the questioning everytime and a few years back, her classmates told her they didn't exist and it was her parents. Well that Christmas, she'd received something (under $5) that was no longer being made and said "Only Santa could've gotten it!" Plus every Christmas morning she finds a note from Santa and the cookies, milk & water (for Rudolph) gone.

For Easter, we'd gone on vacation to London and Italy. Before leaving the house, I put the Easter basket and note out in the living room. Upon returning from our trip, she couldn't believe the Easter Bunny visited while we were away!

It's possible she doesn't believe in them anymore and goes along with it. We'll continue this until she says "Mom & Dad, I know it's you!"

I found out the Tooth Fairy was not real when I was about 8 years old. I woke up and my mom's hand was under my pillow. I asked her what she was doing and she told me she was just checking to see if the Tooth Fairy had arrived yet. I sat up and she had my envelope with my tooth in it in her hand and money in the other hand!!!
That was so traumatic for me! :P

Since you all seem to think they don't exist I guess I will have to go along with it. But I want you all to know that I am very depressed right now. I think I'm going to have to go to the store and buy a pound of chocolate and eat it, while I watch a sad movie. :(

I am so sorry that MGCHAN ruined this for you. I hate to tell you this but, Santa, The Tooth Fairy, and The Easter Bunny are NOT real!!!
I know this will be a shock to you, and believe me, I am only telling you this for your own good.
Now, I will give you some time by yourself so you can try to understand all of this. If you need to talk or have any questions just let me know....we are all here for you during this difficult time.

Yes I'm very sad right now. I can't believe mgchan had to go and ruin my holiday. ;) I was truely expecting the fat man to come down my chimney on Christmas. I was going to make him something good to eat and leave it by the fireplace.

I really think I need a box of chocolates, my woobie blanket and a beer to think this over. hehehe.

You are right though. We do have younger posters. Seeing this for some of the younger posters may not be good!!!

Maybe since your the admin you can alter the name of the thread!?:) Would that be a good idea?!

Just my thoughts, what would happen if we had a 8 or 9 year old member open this thread!?

At ten I betcha soon she will catch on, it was at that age I found my day bed shoved in the back of my moms closet behind her clothes!! OOPs!! Santa was not stoppin by that year.

I remember one year my brother got coal in his stocking!! It was licorice, but I thought it was funny, he ate all of it !!

Well hopefully your daughter won't be looking over your shoulder when you're in this thread.

I bought some of that licorice coal for my step son. Oh he is going to be soooo mad me. He doesn't like black licorice. hehehe

I guess I was about 8 when I realized none of them were real. Was a sad day. I had lost a tooth at my aunts when she lived in California. My parents were on vacation and left me with them. For 4 days that tooth stayed under my pillow. When my parents finally came they stayed the night and suddenly there was money under the pillow. That's when I figured it out.

Now that I'm older it is funny. I kept thinking that the tooth fairy had got lost or wasn't coming because I wasn't at home. I was really devistated back then.
