Prayers needed for Biker Betty Boop's family

Please pause for a second and pray for my brother Doug.

My brother Doug has diabetes and on Saturday we discovered him in his trailer combative and comatose. Paramedics were called and he was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center where he remains in stable but critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

He is on a ventilator and is sedated. He has a severe case of pneumonia and the anti-biotics haven't worked as well as we hoped.

From what we can gather, he must have had a seizure sometime Friday night or very early Saturday morning because the windows were open but his a/c was turned off. His trailer felt like it was 120 degrees inside. We discovered him around 1 in the afternoon.

He spent about 4 hours in the Emergency Room where he underwent a series of tests. He has had an MRI, CT Scan, Lumbar Puncture and assorted medical procedures trying to determine his overall health condition and prognosis. He was admitted to ICU around 8 pm Saturday night and he has remained pretty much the same since then.

Attempts to remove him from the ventilator and sedation and pain meds have not worked thus far.

We made the decision that if Jesus allows Doug to survive this ordeal, he will not be going back to his trailer. (Don, my sister Brenda and I packed up his belongings yesterday)

He will be living with my mother when he returns home from the hospital and we will oversee the care for both of them.

He is better today. He was supposed to be moved out of ICU but they are keeping him there for another day because his blood sugar is too high and the pneumonia still bad. But at least he's off the ventilator and not as deeply sedated as he was. It was pretty scarey but he's so much better now.

:confused: :confused: :confused: Thresea sounds like Doug is a bit hard headed....I know it's gotta be fustrating after all that has happened.....My Husband has some health issues and has been told not to do certain things and I've tried to be supportive and remind him of what the Dr has told him many times but he gets mad and does whatever he wants anyway so I've offically washed my hands of the situation and I've told his Doc that he will not listen and that I'm done trying to help him comply(not a easy thing to do because I do care)........I know you Love your Brother and want only the best for him but maybe he has not recieved a big enough scare(hard to believe after this last episode)to make him follow the instructions that the Docs have given him..Maybe it's time to practice some TOUGH LOVE and see if that gets his attention.......I wish there was something I could say to actually help but I guess there isn't...........Good Luck my friend,Love Sandy :) :)
