I have a friend who is curious about the value of an odd Betty Boop item that was given to her by her boyfriend. It is a large ceramic Betty Boop swivel head-like the one that would go on a larger statue. Lisa's (thats my friend) boyfriend said that he had come across it at a garage sale. He thought it was odd since it didnt come with the rest of the Boop body, but thought it would dtill be a nice addition to Lisa's collection.

She doesn't think the head wil be worth much, but is still curious about the price.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Esme,
This is most likely from a local ceramic studio. Hobbyist molds were produced so people could make their own dolls, and this is probably where this came from. It really has no dollar value.

Thanks for the help. I relayed your message to Lisa, but she seems to think that it is unlikely that it came from a ceramic studio. She says that there is writing on the head under the chin near the lips. It says 'Fleischer stuidios syndicate #27865009'. She thinks that it is the head of a liscensed statue that somehow was seperated from the main body and wound up in someones garage sale.

Need to see a picture to determine anything else. .. it could be one of dozens from Hamilton or Danbury Mint.
And just FYI, this would be a modern item, not anything vintage, as the vintage (1930s) dolls were all compostion wood, not ceramic.

this sorta reminds me of that story about the beheaded boop statue.
