I don't have the mountains of Boop items that many of you have, but I do have some of Betty's toons on film. My hobby is collecting movies on 16mm film. While there are lots of 16mm prints out there, its not always easy to find Betty Boop prints in excellent condition. Most of the Boop prints are old television prints from the 50s and most of them have seen lots of use. I've got five Boop toons so far. I just got "Betty Boop for President." I've also got "Snow White," "Betty Boop's Crazy Inventions," "Betty in Mother Goose Land," and "Betty in Blunderland." And, of course, I've got some Boops on video as well. "President" and "Snow White" are in excellent condition. The others have some wear.

A while back someone gave me a sports water bottle with Betty's image on it and inside its filled with "twizlers," those red candy whips. Its on display with other movie items in my basement cinema.

Wow those films sound pretty cool. Are you able to watch any of them?

Yes, I watch them all the time. Collecting film is my hobby. I've got several projectors - some of them are junk machines I can use for parts - and I've got a small cinema set up in my basement complete with a projection booth.

I've got around 70 features and I don't know how many shorts and toons. Some collectors have several hundred titles. Most of my films are pre-1950 and many have never been legally available on video.

In addition to the Boop toons, I've got two other Fleischer toons.

"Tramp-Tramp-Tramp," a 1926 SOUND toon that came two years before Disney's "Steamboat Willie." Its a follow-the-bouncing-ball toon formatted just like the later ones - cartoon segment wraps around the sing along portion.

The other is "I Likes Babies and Inkfants," a 1937 Popeye.

You are so lucky! Those BB films sound like more fun that most of my BB stuff that I have! Silly of me to think that but what is the use of collecting your BB items if you can not use them to your enjoyment? Of course I do have BB Statues and other figurines, but my favorite item is my Film strip leather BB coat and the matching hand bag.

Nice to have a new face here. Welcome to the Boopstate!

Are you talkin' to me? Are you talkin' to ME? :D

Sorry I haven't been here for a while. Too many projects and things to do.

In answer to your question, I haven't added any Boop toons to my collection. There have been some 16mm prints available, but they usually sell for quite a bit and I'm short on cash right now.

Perhaps this has laready been mentioned on this board and if so I apologize for repeating it here, but I see that Popeye will be out on DVD soon with all toons restored. Since the first (and best) Popeye toons came from the Fleischer Studio maybe this means that we'll eventually get Betty's toons restored and available on DVD. That would be very nice!
