I'm thankful for the loving family I have.
I'm thankful for the roof over my head, food in my stomach, clothes on my back and having a job to supply all those needs.
I'm thankful that I have wonderful friends that see me through good and bad times.
And I'm thankful for this Betty Boop website.

Thanksgiving is next Thursday. Just cook a Turkey anyway on that day. That's usually what most people do or they have ham. So others might have other traditions they do on that day.

i have to work...and besides it seems to me that since my mother passed away a few years ago...it isnt the same...the 21 of this month she passed away in 2002 and it seems like yesterday...everyone is still sad...but we move on..its like the holidays are a reminder of us all in the hospital gathered around her while she lay in that bed...gone.....im sorry but i feel you are all my friends here and i can share this story with you...this is a sad part of the year for me...maybe in later years it will be better...and it has gotten better...but Mom was a big big part of all of our lives...I am thankful i still have my Dad and sisters and brother and my hubby and children...and that can end in the next second...thank you for listening to me sob....dont be thankful just this one day...but every day...and as for christmas...dont give presents and get yourself in debt for one day...but give presents of love all year round...its a good thing.....
(((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm with you on all that. My husbands father passed away the week before Christmas 6 years ago. We had the services on December 23. So Christmas for us is still pretty sad not having my father-in-law there. But time does slowly heal us, though sometimes it doesn't feel like it. So bboop480 i completely understand why Thanksgiving is hard for you.
I would like to make a suggestion to you though. Go out and celebrate you mom next week. Do something she would have thought would be fun and exciting but she never got the chance to do. Every Christmas the family tells stories about George and it makes us all laugh. We know he's there with us all in our hearts, where it matters most. Go celebrate her, it may help your family feel a little better even if it is for a little while.
Also i don't mind hearing you "sob" sometimes it's good to get it out of your system. Talk soon.
Char :)

It so amazing of how many things everyone is supplied with. I know that even the most miserable person on earth has something to be thankful for. I personally do not know where to start. I would like to thank god for simply everything especially life itself. We spend alot of our time asking for more and we do not see what we already have. "Want what you have and not what you do not have"

widdle something to think about .....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is for the undertaker,
who's story is sad to tell,
for what he does is never mentioned,
and often overlooked as well.
He's not at all what you might picture,
he's not wrinkled, old and gray.
His face is not the pasty white,
like storybooks portray.
Some people laugh and make their jokes,
and some turn up their nose,
and many think that he is strange,
for the life that he has chose.
But there are many things that they don't see,
and even more that they don't know.
Like all the nights he gets no rest,
but never lets it show.
I have seen him work both day and night,
with no time to eat or sleep.
To care for those in mourning,
and comfort those who weep.
The load he carries on his shoulders,
is more than you or I could bear.
But he always seems to find the time,
to show you that he cares.
So when you see the undertaker,
make sure you see the man,
that does the job that no one wants
and that no one understands.
Take the time to shake his hand,
and a moment to just say "hi."
I think you'll find the undertaker,
is just an ordinary guy.
Well I am fairly new to this forum so I was not here whe this thread was put up but here is my two cents if it is worth anything :eek: The spirit of the holidays in itself is a wonderful thing it makes most of us happy but when we forget what the meaning of the holiday is that's when we go wrong. Thanksgiving to me is a day of family, friends and home cooked meals and that is that. Christmas is a time of sharing family values and a day to remember the birth of our lord eventhough no one will ever know the exact date. It is not about the presents I try and teach my children and yes they know the true meaning of christmas and do not expect a big expensive gift because they will no be getting it. Yes many people get depressed around the holidays because it has all become a commercial holiday not everyone remembers it's true meaning. With my two cents written now I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and a joyous holiday season but keep in mind the true meanings and a light will shine in your heart and all the depression and overwhelming thoughts of going into debt this season will go away! God Bless :D
Well we just finished having dinner here at my grandparents place in Springfield, Oregon. I am sooooo stuffed. I think, wait I know I ate way to much food. I haven't even gotten to the dessert part yet. ........mmmmmm.......dessert........ I think i need some now.
Well I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. I know I have so far. It's good to see my family. Exept my brother decided to go and spend it with a friends family instead of his own. so he's on my list right now. the only way he can get off of that list is to buy me something Betty. hehehe.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
