Hi Sonya,
I don't think you will be able to find an iron on or sew on patch because King Features wants to control what the Betty Boop image goes on and so they haven't authorized just patches.. only patches that are already sewn on jackets, etc. that are manufactured by the official licensees.

:( Yes Im finding out that there are no Patches out there any where!!! Have looked everywhere to no avail!! But guess I will keep trying!! Thank You Very much for your reply!!! Sonya

I'm afraid your search for a patch may end up being a futile one. Maybe some of the other members are aware of a vendor who sells patches but I don't know of any and I have the current list of licensees. Wish I could be more helpful.

 thanks for trying to find patches that you can have sewn onto leather jackets. i am kind of upset. but understand the rules and regulations. once again...thanks from rose a betty admirer and long time friend.

First of all welcome to the forum!

I understand the trouble you are having with finding patches. i create my own from old t-shirts. when my t-shirts become too small i cut out the image of betty and use it as a patch! i have made pillow covers this way!

Hope i have helped.

i was a bit upset about having to cut up the shirt at first becoz i didnt wana ruin any thing of betty boop, but now im glad i did because i now have a pair of betty boop jeans that i love wearing all the time and go with my dress style a lot more then a baggy denim shirt wud!

Hey that is a good idea to recycle your t-shirts into something else... that's pretty clever thinking if you ask me!

mgchan

I don't believe there are any authorized BB patches.

XxxBettyBoopxxX
09-29-2003, 11:45 PM
I don't believe it's a registered patch

Bikerbettyboop
10-26-2003, 12:38 PM
It could've been a patch that was made years ago and may have been registered at that time.

RATS!!!! haha! Probably just as well.........I've bout spent my last dime this month on the Boop! Need to build up some spending money. I just received the USO doll from Danbury Mint...which cost me a mint! HA.

My next big thing will be a tattoo on my lower back..............small and just her head (I think). I've been building up the nerve for months and think I'm just about ready................YIKES

Bikerbettyboop

Seems like everything from Danbury Mint costs a fortune doesn't it? I don't know why either. I've seen some beautiful Betty Boop collectibles made by other licensees that are just as nice as Danbury's stuff.

Ooooh... a tattoooooo.........

You know this may seem weird but my husband is a computer geek and he has a soultion!!! Make your own. Find your own pic that you would like to and make sure it has GOOD graphics, then you can find iron on paper from Staples and then you can print it but you have to have an ink jet printer!!!

But I have three of my own that I found on Ebay....
I have not used if any one would like them let me know.

Hope I helped:D

Hi folks... just be careful that some of these patches being purchased on eBay may not be officially licensed and I for one do not want to support outlaw eBay sellers. I am not aware of any licensed patches.

Bikerbettyboop is right... there are no licensed Betty Boop patches!

You can make your own patches or iron ons... providing you make them for yourself and don't sell any products with those iron ons.

Be sure you to use authorized BB images, not ones created or heavily modified by fans. Always include:

<center>&copy;2004 King Features Syndicate, Inc./Fleischer Studios, Inc.
<FONT SIZE="-1">TM</FONT>Hearst Holdings, Inc./Fleischer Studios, Inc.

Thanks MGCHAN for clarifying this for us. I didn't think there were any licensed patches available for sale. Glad to hear we can make them for our own personal use though. That is great news. Thanks again!!

Candlesnboop
07-28-2004, 01:11 AM
I never even though about that. OOPs the ones I bought are not King Features.

Darn.... But ya it is easy to make your own. As my hubby helped me point out:D

I had one ironed on to my jeans. Was fun till it washed off. O'well.

Bikerbettyboop
07-28-2004, 09:53 PM
That's the problem with some of those iron on images... they do tend to wash off prematurely.

Candlesnboop
07-29-2004, 02:49 PM
Well not if you put in on something that you do not wash that much. I washed my jeans all the time.. A hat would work or a dolli would be fun:D

mgchan
07-29-2004, 03:32 PM
The images would less likely wash out if they were printed with an Epson printer which uses DURABrite ink. :)

Also print it on white iron transfer. It's used for putting on dark materials.

Candlesnboop
07-29-2004, 05:52 PM
No my hubby says you need an ink jet or the images will not look as good. He really knows what he is talking about there he works for Hewitt Packard a big computer nerd!!!

But yea you wanna put it on a darker material, my jeans were black but still looked ok...

mgchan
07-29-2004, 09:07 PM
DURABrite ink is the ink used in an Epson printer. They are fade and water resistant. The ink is better than the HP ink! :)

Another reason they say use inkjet is because the iron transfers for consumers is made for inkjets and 99.9% of all color printers at home is inkjet. A laser color copier will produce better and longer lasting results.

The reason you use the white transfer material is because the image will look brighter and more colorful.

Bikerbettyboop
07-29-2004, 09:41 PM
Thanks for the info MGCHAN.

I'd love to have a laser color copier/printer but they are pretty expensive, aren't they?

mgchan
07-29-2004, 10:13 PM
Though there are color laser printers for under $1,000, decent ones are between $2,000 - $3,000. Compare that to inkjets for under $100!!!

BTW, in tests they found out in the long term, using a laser printer is actually cheaper than an inkjet printer. It's the consumerables (ink/toner) for the inkjet that add up over time.

hmm... interesting information. It's just that initial two to three thousand dollar cost that hurts most small business folks like me.

I bought a number of quality sew-on patches about 6 or 7 years ago from Nostalgiaville, Inc. They were licensed by King Features and, I believe, manufactured by Dandor. These were large 12-14" pose patches and smaller 6-7" double-B letterman character patches. My wife used them to make some beautiful denim jackets that she only wears on special occasions. Despite many inquiries we've never been able to find anything similar since. It must have been a very limited run. Had we known we would have stocked up as there was so much more we wanted to do :(

Hi Jestor... welcome to the forum... sounds like your wife was able to put those patches to good use!!

husbandsabooper

Was Nostalgiaville Inc on the internet or was it a company somewhere? That would be far easier to iron it on than cross-stitch it! Thanks for the idea.

Hi Theresa and thanks for the welcome. Nice seeing you here!

Hi husbandsabooper. Nostalgiaville has a store right off I-70 in Kingdom City, MO that we visit a few times a year. It's a pretty nice drive for us but they carry a lot of hard to find retired items. They do have a website....

http://www.nostalgiavilleusa.com/

but it's really just displays the newer items they have in stock, things you can get anywhere.

On our recent visit I did notice they were carrying some pocket-sized sew-on patches, but the large Dandor patches are sadly a thing of the past.
