Eddy was runnin a temp the last few day yesterday @ 7:30 last night I took his temp. It was at 104.0 I took him in to the ER. He seemed to be fine other than the temp so I wasn't sure if he had an ear infection.. You know my worries with ear infections and with Austin (thank goodnes he is done with that) any how. They tried 5 different times to take his blood to do a CBC test and poked so many holes, it took the blood dr. specialist to get his blood he only tried twice but he finally got it. The poor boy cried and cried the whole time. When we finally got that done he was bushed, he crashed slept for maybe 15 mins? Then they came back an asked for an xray. Ok. we went to do that he had to wake up for it though, so he wasn't happy but at least he was not crying! Got that done and it was time to wait.......
After all that it turned out to be a bronchial infection.... another usless night in the ER. Sent us home and told us to kee an eye on him an to do the Tylenol -Motrion trick... You know use one first then the other and keep doing it over an over...
In the long run Eddy is still sleeping he woke up for about an hour this morning to eat breakfast and then crashed again. He needs all the sleep he can get.
Well looks like I better stop boring ya all. I hope everyone has a good weekend. We are staying home to keep him healthy, and working on a Turkey school project for Austin. So at least we won't be to bored!!:):)
Peace to all!!

He is on the down side of the infection. Not so bad. But still kinda out of it. It is hard to tell if he feels bad because of his Downs Syndrome he has a high tolerance for pain so we really have to watch him...
TaTa for now

i bet i could have gotten his blood in one...maybe 2 tries...yes i am that good!!! I get the ones the doctors cannot get!...the thing with babies is that if you dont get their arm in a locked position, one little move can and will move that vein...i do about 1,000 plus draws a month...its hard on those sweet little babies...and i learned not to take the baby to the e.r. for every little thing...but i think you were right doing that...104 is getting dangerously high and can cause the baby to have seizures...good call candles...I hope he is better now...and i know that sometimes they (er) make us feel like we are bringing them in for nothing...but trust you instincts...you will be a much happier mommy!!! (regarless of what they tell you)

What do you mean had the same thing? Are you talking about the infection?? Or his Downs Syndrome? If that is the case please do not be sorry, he is almost the best thing that has ever happened to me, we love that boy with all of our hearts! And he is a very very happy boy!

I'm pretty sure Bbooper is most likely talking about the bronchial infection.
I hope Eddy is feeling better.
It's worth the trip to the ER. Last September, 2004, we made a mad dash into the ER, from the suburbs to New York City, a 45 minute drive, that may have contributed to my daughter being alive today. Follow your instincts, even if it turns out to be nothing major.
For the fever, stay with children's Tylenol and don't use Motrin. Long term use of Motrin may trigger a serious and deadly allergic reaction. Followup with seeing a doctor, because you may need to treat the bronchial infection with an antibiotic.

Actually Eddy's doctor recommeded me to give him the Motrin over Tylenol, for a baby with a high fever it is best to give the first dose of witch ever and then alternate back and forth.
It worked like a charm. He is back to his healthy self....

It's may be okay in small & short term doses but I would advise you or anyone else to stay away from Children's Motrin & Advil. There's been numerous cases of children having a deadly reaction and developing Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Children & adults have either died from it or survived with a lifetime of problems. Do a search on the Web and you'll understand the severity of it.
